What Insiders Are Saying
For Italian in Los Angeles, it doesn't get any better than the Arts District's Bestia, This isn't dinner, it's an experience.
Amazing food and the service was awesome. Must dine!
Stunning!!! All of it!!!
I was embarrassed for Bestia this week. I took 3 generations of family, ages 16, 23, 57, 76 and 77, for an early weekday dinner celebrating the grandparents passing through town after 2 weeks abroad. The server decided the grandparents must be rubes, attempting to up-sell and condescend all in the same meal. Imagine actually warning these sophisticated world travelers about the perils of pecorino romano and black pepper! That's just a taste of what the whole meal was like. Grandpa had to actually fight for his glass of Oregon Pinot. None of us had ever seen anything quite like it, and it sucked the flavor out of any of the underwhelming food which hit the table (deserts rocked though). Luckily our gang has fun no matter where we go, and we laughed through it and afterwards. But we won't be back. I was sorry to have chosen Bestia and know my $450. would have been better spent just about anywhere else.
Great date night. Very attentive service. Cramped seating but worthwhile overall. Order whatever the waiters recommended. It’s all incredible.
Increíble lugar. Se come muy muy bien
Food is amazing! Anything you ordered is fantastic. Great service, very attentive staff! Visited here the last three months, that’s how scrumptious everything is!
Second time in a year, and I can only say that this place is hands down my favorite restaurant in LA. I don't know how they do it, but for a massive floor, this kitchen and wait staff just work like a well-oiled machine that does not miss a beat. Even when they don't have a Michelin, people are hustling to clear plates as soon as you're done and fold napkins right when you leave. They're definitely trained as if the restaurant were shooting for a Michelin or two, and the way the food is, they're entirely deserving.
This time, we went all out - bone marrow pasta (decadent, savory, supple, and crispy all at once, truffled pork sausage pasta (absolutely incredible and rich), oxtail agnolotti (like little puffs of heaven), and the showstopper of a plate at only $40...slow roasted lamb neck with lettuce wraps, mint, and soft herbs. Holy Hannah. This might be my favorite entree of all time. They give you a steak knife, but the lamb is so perfectly roasted that it falls right off the bone as soon as you dig into it. They also give you almost the whole neck so you get to go for cartilage and marrow as well. Wow, when can we come back?
All of the food was amazing and the service was perfect.
Excelente todo, todo lo que pedimos nos encanto 100% recomendable.
Great food as always
sii fui a mi reservacion y todo estuvo muy bien la comida deliciosa y el servicio muy bueno!!!
Having an allergy to shellfish has never dampened my dining out experience ... I tried ordering a few things without the shellfish component and they refused to make it .... I came in for this pasta they had which had crab on it so I asked if they can just give me the pasta and not add the crab at the end and the waitress said they weren’t allowed to?! That’s the dumbest thing - I am allergic to shellfish ... so how can you just say no bec you just don’t want to ... I didn’t ask for it to be removed bec o don’t like crab but bec of health issues .... needless to say we ordered pizza which was ok ... but the attitude of the chef and Resturant owner (which happens to be the same person) was a HIGE turn off, rude and great lack of customer care and appreciation... will never return !
Just wanted to write a review to caution other Open Table users to check their reservation after booking, you could have booked a counter table without knowing. It was frustrating to wait 2 months after I made this reservation to be seated at a noisy counter knocking elbows with other diners. No where when I made the reservation does it say what kind of table I was booking. Otherwise, the staff and food are great! Definitely worth shelling out once while in LA.
As always, everything was fabulous!
The place is great for groups of 8 or intamate dinner for 2. Their staff is knowledge of wines and pairings for dishes. Parking is a little rough, it's either street parking or valet.
They forgot to bro g our main course and did not really apologize .an Italian restaurant that serves no proper coffees ? So so disappointed with this place ! What a waste of time !
Honest, slightly inventive cooking with health in mind
Had another fabulous meal with my family. The lambs neck was a very nice surprise.
Delicious appetizers and dessert! Skip the pizza
Awesome foodie restaurant. Exquisite ingredients and preparation!
Still one of the consistently best restaurants in downtown. The wait is worth it, the food is delicious, and the cocktails are inventive. Service friendly and on point. Go.
Love Bestia! Will be back!
Took my girlfriend for her birthday. Got that “holy crap” look after the first bite of every dish. Superb all around.
Always an absolute pleasure dining here. Our first experience at the chef's counter and a lively and wonderful dinner indeed. Great wine selections and fantastic food.
The food and the service were 5-star. Our waiter was so knowledgeable; every person that came to our table was very nice. Our one complaint is we were seated outside on a very hot evening. Each end of the patio was covered with plastic doors/covers, so there was no air flow. Drenched in sweat by the end of the meal.
The restaurant is amazing. My only complaint is we made a reservation a month out, and when we got there they did not have a table available. They said a lot of people just sat down and we could eat in the bar. Fortunately we did get a seat in front of the prepping station, which I personally like. But it was our wedding anniversary and I thought that it was not cool to do that. But the restaurant is phenomenal and we would love to go back soon.
Best restaurant in LA!!!
We had such high expectations for Bestia to celebrate our Anniversary. I made the reservation 2 months out and was only able to snag counter seating. Based on some of the reviews, a lot of guests had recommended the counter seating as it was a nice way to see the kitchen staff doing their prep and presentation. The view was nice and food was great, however our Server, Stephen did not check up on us once. He took our order and left the rest to the runners. He never once came back to see if we wanted to order anything else or how the food was or to note that our food was running behind. We waited 25-30 minutes in between food items and was just sitting there in between items. Unfortunately, even though the food was amazing- it took too long and the service was non- existent. For a restaurant with their repertoire, I would at least expect some type of service.
Overall a good dinner and good service
Perfect as always!
Amazing food, seated immediately and service was exceptional.
Have you seen the hilarious documentary on how a guy got his imaginary restaurant to rank #1 on tripadvisor? The hype around Bestia reminds me of that. This place is laughably average and absurdly pricey.
First, our server straight up mislead us. She said we should EACH order 2 items because it was small plates. We ordered 2 pizzas, plus a salad & a spaghetti dish. I asked if that would be enough food, and she said "mmmmm, probably". DUDE!....it ended up being 2 FULL SIZE pizzas. We could have just ordered 1 pizza & the salad & been perfect.
Our bill was over $150 for 2 decent pizzas, an inedible bowl of way too salty spaghetti, a salad with more nuts than lettuce, 3 glasses of average wine & a beer.
The restaurant greeted us by saying "Happy Anniversary" (12 years woooo) and then proceeded to set us at a table you would reserve for little kids, or someone you are trying hard to NOT impress. TINY & at a really awkward spot in the restaurant where you feel like you're in the way. My chair hung out into the room behind me. So WEIRD.
Don't ask for even the mildest change in the menu item. We wanted our salad with NO ricotta cheese. She said the kitchen doesn't do that. My husband asked for a small side of marinara sauce for his pizza. Kitchen said NO. WTF.
The wine was honestly so average, especially for the crazy prices. I'm accustomed to ordering an $18-25 glass at a nice restaurant, but typically the wine is delish. No matter what I ordered at Bestia, it was below average.
We're pretty easy going so we just shrugged it all off, knowing that this restaurant will eventually have to change or it will disappear. You can only fool people with great P.R. for so long.
Bestia was highly recommended to us, and it was challenging getting reservations, but it was worth the effort!! Delicious meal, attentive service, and great atmosphere. We will be back!!
Difficult to get reservations but was lucky enough to book a Fri @ 6:30 approx. 2 months in advance. Well worth the wait. Valet parked for $8. Looking forward to a second visit for sure
Wanted to check this out for a date night. The service was excellent and food recommendations were spot on. The location was
The food is ALWAYS great!
Had a great overall experience. Highly suggest making reservations.
I always enjoy coming here for get together and the food is always amazing ...i love the rib eye and the bone marrow... they're my faves!
