For Italian in Los Angeles, it doesn't get any better than the Arts District's Bestia, This isn't dinner, it's an experience.
We had been regulars from the start...but have had great difficulty attaining a reservation....explaining this dilemma to the hostess resulted in getting a card to email the staff and reserve...this is truly a culinary experience not to miss...from the lobster appetizer ...to the fabulous chicken gizzards...then exciting pastas...bestia is in our top 3 Italian in dtla...great wait staff also...
Never disappoints. Amazing food and service. Great vibe and location
Phenomenal ambiance, food, wine list and dessert list.
I took my husband here for his bday dinner and we had a great time with the food and drinks.
For appetizers, we ordered lobster crostini cherry tomato salad, bone marrow gnocchi, and clams/mussels. For pasta, we went with the cavatelli and for our secondi we went with the grilled branzino.
Most of the dishes were well prepared, well executed, and tasty.
The only thing we didn't care for was our apricot crostata for dessert. The apricots were too tart.
I'm used to most restaurants offering a complimentary dessert for birthdays but this restaurant did not offer. It would've been a nice touch if they did. They did give him a candle on his dessert so that was cute.
Overall, we would come back again but wish they
Bestia is seriously the BEST! From the bone marrow pasta, to the truffle pasta, to the panna cotta! Everything is made with superb attention.
The food was amazing! I’d go back there for food any time! Loved the crew! Everyone who works there seems to be very happy. Thank you guys! Be back soon!
It’s SO overrated-not worth the drive. GOD, GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!!!!! Prices are ridiculous, staff is hilariously pretentious, the food is AVERAGE. Skip it. Trust me.
Loved the sharing concept. The branzino and pastas were amazing. The service was outstanding. Definitely recommend making a reservation.
Everything was great.
It took three months and two calls to make and confirm the reservation at this popular location. I had completely forgotten that I was here almost 5 years ago for it's soft opening. We arrived a bit early so we started with a round of their celebrated cocktails. They were unimpressively complicated, leaving the hungry patrons in a state of mild confusion. All had a distinct flavor that attempted to tell a story, but their creative names proved more amusing than their flavor profile. First up is the veal tartare which was fresh but fatally lacking in seasoning. It looked delicious but tasted very plain. Next came the margherita pizza that paled in comparison to the $10 version from 800 degrees pizza parlor. Then, the truffle pasta that was only enough to feed a toddler. The star of the night, the aged ribeye, was arguably satisfying but comes with a whopping $110 price tag which completely overshadowed its juiciness. One would think that if a restaurant dares to charge so much for their food that they'd use better plates. No, just plain vanilla IKEA plates all around. The waitress was diligent but throughout the night kept this facial expression as if we did not order enough food. When we turned down her suggestion to add another antipasti, I thought she rolled her eyes a little. I am usually terrible with red wine so I only had myself to blame when this $91 bottle tasted like a $5 bottle from CVS. The theme here in Bestia is not good food but gentrified smugness.
We’ve been here many times and it’s always great! Pasta, pizza and drinks, just awesome! Salumi is a must!
It's a cool place with tasty food you feel it's authentic and the flavors are there for you
I finally took the bait, made a 3-month advance reservation, and had a night at Bestia. I wasnt disappointed!!!
Pros: The environment was vibrant, even for a Wednesday night. We ordered the calamari and Cavatelli Norcina and both were absolutely delicious! We had to try the Margherita pizza and that was not disappointing either. As the night went on, we were absolutely amazed by the customer service and attention to detail from the Bestia staff. As busy as it was it seemed that our table was greeted every 5-10 minutes to check on water refill, another glass of wine, and just overall comfort. I was very surprised with the prices of the entrees and wine, it was much lower than I anticipated, especially with how popular Bestia is in the LA area.
Overall, this was a positive experience and I would absolutely return. The reservation wait will be worth it!
Food was not as good as expected. Ambient is good but too noisy.
Been here multiple times and always a great time!
Amazing ! The food is excellent, as always. I always recommend this place to anyone hoping to get a fine dining experience, but still have a laid back atmosphere and dress code.
After all these years still D E L I S H!
Good service, absolutely wonderful pizza, salads, pasta and deserts.
There’s not much to say about this place that hasn’t already been said; it’s simply great. The consistency of this place is unparalleled.
You grabbed my heart via my tummy. Food is an opportunity to tickle some of the hardest places to reach of our soul and you do that in a way that is as close to euphoria as possible. The pasta should be registered as a national treasure. This is by far one of the best places to share a meal, with a special person, for a memorable time.
Very good fresh quality food but a little overhyped. Not worth the month wait. Other restaurants like Republique are much better for this price point with less of a wait.
it was such a great experience! Meal, drinks, and people everything was perfect for us. thank you so much.
I do not live in LA, but this was my #1 restaurant to go to during my trip...and totally worth it! I had to make the res 1 month in advance, but would do it again in a heart-beat!
Best dinner I ever had. The food was superb! Everyone should try this place
Excelent service. Food portions were adequate. Food quality was superb.
I've never left an Italian restaurant hungry until I went here. Very good food but I can't say I was satisfied with how small the portions were. You'll end up wanting two $25 plates of noodles - so plan on $50-60/person before appetizers and drinks. I agree it tasted great but I didn't go here for a tasting - I went for a satisfying meal.
Cute dinner setting
Food and service were lacking from my last visit. Annoyed to the point of making it into my Never Again category.
Anniversary Date Night
Excellent atmosphere, food and wait staff! The only con I felt was the value in terms of quantity regarding the pasta dishes. For a restaurant that is known for their handmade pasta, the portions were exceptionally small for the entree-like price. There is not getting around it, they meant to be shared and even then one dish for 4 people is going to only get you a bit maybe two. I would suggest management take a look at their portions for this part of their menu. The pro was the staters, pizza and fish dishes were all very acceptable.
Food was good but could have been better especially for the price and the minuscule portions.
The poached egg was still super raw! The egg white was super runny and gross. Poached eggs are supposed to be cooked where the egg white is not runny but cooked well with the yolk still soft.
Service was good but felt fake
Made reservations 3 months in advance and was sat at the bar ?!! If I wanted to sit at the bar, I would have just arrived by 5pm! Had to sit thru dinner on a stool. Not comfortable at all. Left and back was hurting.
Restaurant claims they care about their workers and that’s why they charge a 4% gratuity for kitchen staff BS
If they really cared for them, they would pay them more to begin with and not ask for a pity and embarrassing charge from the customers who already pay an extravagant amount for food.
I am sure they can pay them at least $4 more per hour so they can be truly happy.
the overall experience was good. their bone marrow was delicious. the only complaint i have is that we were seated at the counter, directly in front of the grill. both my bf & i’s faces were red and literally sweating and irritated. had to awkwardly turn our backs against it to feel cooler.
Celebrating closing a deal. Food was superb and unique yet familiar. They like to control the dining experience so you have to order all the food at once which initially was off putting but I understand it ends up being better timing for delivery and sequence. All in all a great evening.
Overall, the food was ok. Nothing exceptionally good. Nice place though.
Great food, not too expensive for the quality. Cool space in the trendy/crappy arts district.
Brought my husband to celebrate his birthday and he enjoyed everything that he ordered. Our waiter was the best. He made a couple of suggestions which I’m glad he did. We loved the atmosphere. This place is a hidden gem in the rough side of LA but well worth the drive. We definitely plan to return soon. Also, all staff was very friendly 🙌🏼.
It was not worth 2 months wait.
The food was so so terrible and they even charged for the tap water. Wow!!!
One of the best restaurants in LA, and most probably, the world.
I would fly down to LA just to eat here.
The food is incredible. This is the first time I didn't feel our service was 5 stars but the only real note I have is that there has GOT to be more than 2 bathrooms for a restaurant as big as this one. Wait in line for 25 mins if you have to go during dinner.
Loved the food, but the waiter's assertion that their portions are large and need to be shared is ridiculous. My husband would have left very hungry if he did not order a pizza as well as the five other dishes we ordered for four people. It was barely enough food for four and we are not big eaters. The angilotte pasta was a very small portion as were the salads and the other pasta we ordered. My advice is to have each person order his own food and share a bite if they want to.
