We are a Chef-driven restaurant. This phrase is used often, so what do we mean when we use that here at Besharam? The food curated by Chef Heena is a reflection of her journey and struggles that brought her here. Rather than dilute our food for certain palates, each dish reflects a story, an experience, a place (or several.) It's her mother’s kitchen and Mumbai streets. It's California produce and the foods she invented for her children’s immigrant lives. As the Chef says “I’m not your mom, so don’t expect me to cook like her.”

We really enjoyed the food, it was excellent. Definitely recommend.
We were pleasantly surprised that the now vegetarian only menu was extremely tasty and very satisfying. The impossible meat dishes were outstanding! Food overall was very flavorful and not lacking in spice-how Indian food should be!
Interesting and inventive Indian food. Service was amazing! Pretty pricey for vegetarian food though.
Besharam has a really creative menu with delicious Indian food unlike any other restaurants I’ve found in SF. The servers are friendly and helpful offering great suggestions. They have a nice outdoor setup with warmers and well-spaced out indoor tables.
Overpriced for Indian vegetarian. Average quality.
Good bar ,wine list .
Love Beshram! The food is outstanding and the service is great. This is the second time I’ve been there since the pandemic and they have constructed a nice outdoor area. I’ll be going back again very soon!
the food is sub-par and the taste lacks the punch.
We love Besharam, the drinks, food and service was excellent t
Expensive but awesome food! During covid, we sat outside - cozy patio dining! Enjoyed a few cocktails - all unusual taste ! Highly recommend
Loved eating here – good contemporary Indian food. The drunken pani puri and kimchi samosas were A++
Amazing food!! Will definitely be visiting again :)
The staff is so attentive and cares deeply about providing a high quality experience for their guests. Would definitely visit again!
This is a review of their COVID outdoor patio. We were there for lunch and it was a wonderful, pleasant experience. Cheerful tables and chairs, a screen to block you from the cars in the road, lovely service and wonderful food. I loved the small plates especially.
My friend ordered the lazy dosa and drunken pani puri. I got the dahi vada, which were delicious! The pani puri I could have made better at home but it was interesting to taste it for the first time with gin.
Incredible food, amazing service, and excellent outdoor seating. Quiet and no traffic. Wonderful night!
This is my third time to Besheram, but first time during Covid. The food each time is really quite amazing. My son is vegan and there many very tasty vegan options.
I love that the menu is so bold in trying new things that other Indian restaurants wouldn't even dream of exploring. The drinks have been on point so far and always so different and instagram worthy.
We went for lunch on Saturday and it was superb!! Fantastic service, fantastic food, fantastic drinks. Our severs were so great at recommending items and so friendly. Outdoor area really nice and safe. The chicken and cheesecake were SO GOOD! Highly recommend!!
Amazing food, good outdoor space and great care from the restaurant and the people working there.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Very clean.
Eating outside might even be better than inside eating pre-covid. It’s one of the quieter streets in SF so we had our incredible meal and cocktail in a socially distanced lovely atmosphere. One of the best restaurants in Dogpatch or SF!
Awesome Covid experience!! Love the wine selection!!
Such good food and drinks great experience over all. The drunken Pani Puris were so delicious that we ended up getting them twice.
The food is amazing and fresh .. great homemade Indian food ...simply sublime .
this is more then expected . very nice professional service. food is very light upscale Indian food. and we travel India for 3 months before. great cocktails from the bar. amazing experience. lovely family owned place. very quite area .
Besharam was amazing! They did a great job spacing out their tables. I felt comfortable the entire time. Food was yummy and service was on point. Would definitely go back again!
We came for lunch to celebrate our Anniversary because we like this place; the food is amazing every time we come here.
However this time for one of our orders, we were taken by surprise due to the chef’s insensitivity of us requesting our dish with egg on the side on a separate plate to having it their usual way as listed in the menu. And to top that when we reminded our server of the request we made while ordering that dish, we got that same dish with the egg scooped down on another plate. We didn’t know that a restaurant we think highly of would do such an act.
We then requested the server to actually bring what we requested for and the dish that came now had spice level that was unbearable. We have eaten almost everything in their vegetarian menu and haven’t seen such spice level in any dish. We were left wondering if that was due to our request and we were being made to eat that spicy dish.
Terrible experience at the end when everything before this was going so well in terms in service and quality and taste.
incredibly overpriced and spicy Indian food (and I can handle spicy), spare your time and wallets and go somewhere else
Overpriced for what it really is. Food was ok, nothing extraordinary for what you pay for. You can go to a better local Indian restaurant with solid good food and cheaper. I think you pay for maybe the ambience here
The best saag paneer of my life! Excellent service and food was bomb
I don't usually give any five stars but we have been talking about this place all weekend to everyone so it made a great impression, I do not like Indian food generally but go with my husband occasionally as he does a lot. OK this was food with an Indian flavor. the spices and flavors were all Indian, but they were applied very differently to foods. The seafood stew looked terrific and it was terrific, the charred vegetables and the tempura vegetables with cilantro dip were nice.. the service was terrific, I also had a very nice Manhattan. We are already talking about going again so it was impressive all around
Creative Indian food with robust, intricate flavors - absolutely delicious!
Wait staff very attentive as well!
Will definitely come again!
Loved everything we ate. Liked this style of Indian food better than some high-end Indian places in town. Would certainly go again.
It was extremely refreshing and delicious flavors.
This is some of the best Indian food I've ever had. It managed to thread the needle between contemporary and traditional in the best way possible. The service was friendly, the staff is welcoming and knowledgeable and top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant looking for food that packs a flavorful punch in a comfortable, stylish, chill environment.
Wonderful family owned restaurant where the cooking comes from the heart - put yourself in the chef’s capable hands, sit back & enjoy the tasting menu! One of my best experiences in the city!
Indian boyfriend said the cooking was as good as his mother's. The rose lassi was fantastic
We thoroughly enjoyed the innovative nature of this restaurant. The dishes that worked were great! A few didn’t (dumplings) and surprisingly the bread was weak. Dense and a little greasy. Ordered with blue cheese and cranberries, but couldn’t find or taste either. Still, it’s a unique dining experience and we will return.
This is a great little restaurant in San Francisco. Some nice Gujarati dishes. We had the lamb for mains and although it was a little pricey it was very tasty. I would've liked to have seen a Chicken Tikka Masala dish on the menu, but overall great place.
The food was really good and so was the service. Price is on the more expensive side, would come often if it wasn't for 30-40$ for entrees with meat. Overall, good experience.
