Great Tapas restaurant, good cocktails and great food.
This was an excellent foodie experience.
My only complaint was the service. It took 20 minutes before we were greeted by our server. She was nowhere to be found. The host (which I believe was one of the owners) finally took our drink order. It was 25 minutes after we were seated that we finally got our drinks. Once our server engaged, the rest of the evening went very smoothly.
I would go back again and again, assuming this slow start was an anomaly.
The food was amazing and the drinks were great as well.
Our second time here, such a great menu and venue. We tried some different small plates this time and were pleasantly surprised again. Even the grilled brocholli is amazing. Our favorites are still the elote and the octopus. Nice selection of wines by the glass.
Ambiance and food was excellent
I’m not a spicy food eater, so some of the tapas was not to my liking. But my guests seemed to enjoy it! Wine and sangria were yummy!
Food was even better than I remembered. Had the ceviche and it was excellent, the sweet plantains were great and the beef short ribs are to die for. Two of our party had the baby back ribs and we got one bite because they really didn’t want to share the goodness with us. Service as always was excellent and the wine from Portugal was a great choice. It’s easy to understand why they’ve been invited to NYC to the James Beard competition...I hope they win !!!
The only critique we have was that the bar service for drinks was very slow. As a big group for a bachelorette party we were ready to have more than 1 or 2 drinks dinner but with the slower drink service, we didn’t get past that.
Otherwise, the wait staff and food was wonderful !
Food: Outstanding although most of what we ordered seemed to be spicy. It would have been nice to have more of a variety.
Drinks: Most were good outside of the Hop-O-Loma. It was just weird and not good. The flavors didn’t mesh.
Service: Service was fine outside of communication with the bar. All the white wines we tasted were warm. It took them too long to bring us a bottle so we scratched it for two glasses, which were also warm.
With a few tweaks this place could be outstanding.
First let me say the server was great - I had read previous reviews and was quite excited to dine here on our vacation. The food selection was not great - everything was the same - no diversity- the octopus we had was mushy and I felt like they tried to cover up everything with a lot of spice. My Pisco Sour was terrible (which was quite disappointing as I loved them in Peru) as was my husbands cocktail.
Kids eat free here before 6pm and while our reservation was for 7pm, the place was loaded with families - probably why the kitchen was so backed up
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone
Our second time dining at Besame, fantastic cocktails both times, warm welcomes and slightly more engaged service this time, the small plates are where it's at! Get the ceviche!, get the street corn!, we mixed it up quite a bit, shared everything including the paella which had great depth of flavor! All the food was bright, well-executed and the components/flavors could be picked out of each dish, nothing was muddied or insipid. It takes skill to execute food like this at this level, a knowledge of flavor building in a dish and the food at Besame is truly well-executed!
This is one the most creative and delicious restaurants in Steamboat. The food and drinks are amazing. The chef is very talented in blending exotic flavors together.
Fantastic service and great flavors
This place is a little gem - some of the best food we have had on our road trip across the US. It's so great to have the option of smaller plates too, it's the way we love to eat.
Love everything on this inventive menu!
Wow! This place is amazing! Octopus and short rib tapa are to die for! The speciality cocktails are amazing and their happy hour discounts are tremendous!!! Highly recommend. Very cool vibe. I cannot wait to go back!
Loved it! Get the Brussels sprouts and ceviche!
We were disappointed that the menu had changed from 2 weeks before. We LOVED the short rib appetizer. It no longer existed.
Hi Linda, We had some menu changes and the short rib is back to stay!!! We hope to see you again! Best, Hannah
Besame is my favorite restaurant in Steamboat. The menu is very extensive - there is something for everyone. Every single dish seems to be fresh, unique and so delicious. I think the hardest part is deciding which ones to try. We've tried the octopus, Brussel sprouts, pork belly, pickled vegetables, potatoes, ceviche, paella, lamb burger ... So many naturally gluten-free options. Can't say enough about this place. Outstanding food and reasonable prices. I look forward to the next visit!
1st time visitor this July. We enjoyed the food, good quality. The server we had did a good job explaining the origin of the dishes and the preparation. Will return.
I found a bolt in my entrée, yes, a bolt! The owner apologized and and gave me a free cocktail... and that’s it. Didn’t cover the bill for our table of two or even that plate. We’re understanding people and all was fine until we got the check... A f%#* BOLT and still full price.
This was beyond unacceptable. I’m a local and go here because the food and cocktails are good. Though this experience was unprecedented, it is not the first time I have had terrible service. They have previously refused to cut off the corn from the cob for a friends kid, broke a glass and just swept it into the corner, and made me the wrong drink and made me pay for the correct one.
Never giving this restaurants management another cent. So unfortunate.
Fantastic flavors - outstanding!!
Everything about this restaurant is outstanding. The food, drinks and service were great in all respects.
We were there for happy hour. The waiit staff was very friendly and helped us make the right food choices. The tapas we had were excellent--brussel sprouts, clams with chorizo and the short rib empanada.
We waited an hour after ordering for tapas (and never got it). It was not even crowded. We ended up leaving. The annoying part was we were told 3 times in that hour "Your food is being plated now".
Very fun! Food was delicious, great wine selection and great service!
Excellent meal and service. One of Steamboat’s best restaurants.
Besame is relatively new so it seems they are still figuring things out. The service was great and the ambiance was nice. My family had been in the location when it was the Mexican restaurant.
The food was hit and miss. We opted to go with the tapas and some were good and some not so good. The pickled vegetables were great. Drinks were good. The main complaint was that things were really salty. The octopus, salt cod fritters, the potato’s were really salty! We all felt bloated after dinner.
The restaurant has promise but lower the salt.
The restaurant offered a good selection of tapas and some asian dishes in a somewhat noisy open dining room with a bar. We were seated immediately upon arrival and our server appeared shortly thereafter to take our drink orders. There was an extensive wine list but much fewer selections by the glass. We ordered the ganache, which was very good for $12. We selected a variety of tapas and a salad to split for our meal. All items arrived in a timely manner. The salad was good but lacked interesting ingredients and the dressing was a bit on the bland side. The tapas was also good but disappointing given the descriptions on the menu. The halibut ceviche was too finely diced and the other ingredients overpowered the fish. The shrimp dish was likewise uninspiring and lacked sufficient spice. The best dish was the sautéed brussel sprouts and chorizo. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if your party craves Spanish Asian fusion food but it’s not quite ready for prime-time dining.
The food was amazing! I didn’t know what to expect, but there were four of us and we all shared some tapas and a couple entrees, and it was the perfect amount of food. The ceviche was my favorite!
Second visit to Besame' with some new guests this weekend and it was again outstanding. The menu is very interesting and unique. EVERY choice was excellent. Try any of it, its fun to share all the tapas. One of our top two choices now for dining out in the 'boat.
Only disappointment was that the homemade s'mores are no longer on the dessert menu. Maybe have guests order in advance with their reservations? It would be worth it :-)
Started with fantastic (spicy!) watermelon gazpacho. Next on to the Short rib Empanadas which were great. Finished with perfect seafood paella (enough for 2). Pretty good socarrat for a quickly prepared version. All complimented by a very good Portuguese red wine (Dao). Service was excellent.
Loved the look and feel of the restaurant. Service was on-point and all staff were very friendly and accommodating. We wanted to love the food... But just didn't. It was hit or miss with the tapas. The Good: Brussel sprouts (they were phenomenal!), street corn, and bread w/spicy tomorrow sauce. The Bad: ceviche (fishy and too much coconut) and paella. The "not memorable enough to be good, but not terrible enough to be bad": shrimp, clams, and Kid's quesadilla. Decent kids menu, but none of the sides came with the dish. I'd give this place another chance or stick to ordering the good dishes. For the price, I expected a better all-around food experience.
Paella was fantastic. Summer menu salad different and delicious .
Excellent food and care taking to our food allergy!!
Really enjoyed our trip to Besame. Cocktails (Whiskey Agrio and Hop-A-Loma) were outstanding. The small plates we tried were all delicious, and the Ancho duck wings were a particular standout. Liked the vibe, too, although it was a Sunday evening and thus less crowded.
We dined with friends and ordered a selection of tapas - everything was delicious! Great cocktails and our server helped us select a terrific bottle of wine. Very friendly and attentive service. It was a delightful dining experience!
Best happy hour I have experienced in a long time. Amazing cocktails.
Very nice surprise finding a Tapas bar in Steamboat. Excellent service and even better food. We will make this a routine stop when we visit Steamboat!
My favorite restaurant in Steamboat Springs! The tapas and drinks are top notch!
This was a truly memorable dining experience, delightfully different from cookie-cutter Italian, Steak House, and Sports Bar restaurants. We shared five diverse tapas selections (starting with a salad we're seriously going to try to copy) and every one was a new and different taste explosion (we don't know where to even start trying to copy the rest--or we surely would). Neither of us has the right words to adequately express just how much we enjoyed our dinner! Except maybe to say that, if we weren't five hours away by car, we'd become regulars!
Great food, great service, fun atmosphere.
