I plan on coming back again next week for drinks and appetizers! Great food, ambiance and service!
Great modern and hip restaurant in a great location in Woodward Ave. Right where things are happening. Good food and service. Would return!!
The food and service were beyond expectation. Highly recommend a visit ... you will not be disappointed!
Forgot our appetizers and our cocktails took 40 minutes.
Excellent dinner, superb service.
There was a lot of time between courses, the waitress seemed flustered, but she was good. Food was delicious, everyone was very polite.
Overall the restaurant was quite nice and the service was excellent. Most of the food was very good. On the menu was a"bistro steak" and I was told it was a hanger steak. The meat when served was not hanger steak, but teres major steak, a cheap cut from the shoulder. I was disappointed with this. The rest of the meal was great.
Food was just ok. Nice atmosphere.
Really good! Halibut was very flavorful.
Our server was fantastic. The food was so-so. With hair in my entree it was sent back and the manger made sure to apologize, I know these things happen.
Great service and cuisine. We had a great dinner!
Great location , delicious food but small portions . Excellent decor and ambiance .
Got a great recommendation from the wine guys odor an Armenian red wine. Really good tasting and value.
My main issue is that the main course portions were minuscule. It was almost like a caricature of “fine dining”. Order fries to fill you up, plus they were outstanding. Brussels sprouts were also delicious
Due to the high prices of two of the four entrees for such tiny portions, and given the unremarkable taste of them, not sure I’d go back.
Our server Bradley was an absolute joy second only to the exceptional food!
Upscale new American restaurant with some vegan friendly options . Limited menu . Nice for business lunch or dinner
Dined here (or should I say tried to). We had a reservation for 9:15pm. We arrived a little late, but I did notify the staff that we were running late. Quickly seated as it is kind of the end of dinner. We ordered a cocktail and after it came we ordered a bottle of wine a lot of food, as we like to taste the menu. The wine came, the oysters came, 2 apps came, and then nothing.....25-30 minutes of nothing. And had I not asked, 'nothing' would have continued. When I finally waived down a server, there was going to be another 15 minutes of nothing to get the rest of our order. All at the same time. We had 25 minutes + to watch other tables getting served with exuberance, which of course is even more disturbing. We were done at this point and suggested they keep the food and bring a bill for the things we ate. They insisted on boxing up what they had prepared and comped the part we did eat. It wasn't a pleasant experience. Two men dining late o a Saturday....I hope that wasn't the issue for poor service.
We enjoyed the restaurant and the food but I think there is quite a bit of room for improvement, especially if new restaurants continue to open in the Detroit Area.
Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The service was slow.
The menu was good and there are lots of interesting dishes to try. However, since their chef is taking the time to create and prepare these dishes they need to make sure that the food is served warm & in a timely fashion.
Please make sure you are not seated in the booth near the restrooms and service area. It ruins the whole ambiance of the evening. This is particularly annoying when you have booked in advance & in our case entertaining guests.
We will try the restaurant again, but it will not be my first choice.
Best waitress ever. Food was delicious. Had a wonderful evening & would highly recommend this restaurant!
By far the best experience I've had when dining downtown. The service is the best I've seen, you can tell everyone takes pride in their work. Food is nothing less than perfection.
Great food with good variety and chefs discretion. Maybe heavier cream sauces and milder than we were use to. Great service.
I have a love hate relationship with Besa. Love the innovation with the cuisine. Reasonable wine list. Hip ambiance.
Service on the other hand leave a lot to be desired. Inconsistent. Slow and can be extremely slow then rushed to finish before valet leaves. Also feels they are trying hard to be different. Your food is good, do not try to be so different with some dishes and how about getting the service right.
I took customers for a work dinner to the restaurant and everyone enjoyed it! From the attentive and professional service of the wait staff to the craft cocktails to the wonderfully prepared fresh food - everyone loved it, loved their individual dishes. Ingredients are innovative and fresh, their execution perfection. I had the curry mussel soup which was complex and layered, beautifully presented. There is something for every taste, including vegetarian and vegan dishes. The atmosphere is modern, yet warm and elegant - masterfully created desserts and libations ended the evening.
We had an early reservation, 6:15, so the place was relatively empty when we arrived, but did fill up as the evening wore on. We skipped the salads, though seeing them brought to other tables, they generally looked pretty good and big. We started instead with the crispy brussel sprouts, which were served with sweet chili, fresh Thai basil and mint, topped with puffed rice. The portion was very big, certainly enough for four people to split. The sprouts were crunchy and the dressing an excellent accompaniment. Would definitely order them again. For dinner, my companion got the Hudson Valley Duck breast and I got the branzino, which is my "go to" dish. The duck was medium rare with a nice crispy skin, served on a bed of pureed carrot with charred pearl onion and celery microgreens. The branzino was served with pureed pumpkin and charred broccolini. Again a nice crispy skin and tender flesh. I'm not a broccolini fan, but Besa's rendition made me rethink that. We ordered a side of aspargus, which was served with "hollandaise" in quotes. Their version of that was deconstructed with soft cooked egg, candied lemon and powdered butter served unmixed on top. Definitely a good accompaniment. Drinks were very reasonably priced for this level of venue. The restaurant is in a great location with floor-to-ceiling windows facing Congress and Woodward downtown. The decor is open and contemporary, the vibe casual, the service excellent. Also if you park in the One Woodward parking structure across from the restaurant, they validate you for two hours. All-in-all worth a visit.
I had a glass of pinot grigio and Sue had a Johnny Walker Black on the rocks. The latter at $10 was priced less than either LDV or Assaggi.
Bradley, our server, was fabulous. His enthusiasm regarding the food and preparation was exciting. The food was exquisitely creative in its flavors and presentation.
Not the least expensive place on the planet, but worth it, especially for a special occasion.
The food was very good. The employees were all friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu
Excellent food and lovely venue. Unusual flavors pleasingly melded together. Holstein steak was wonderful - rarely found on restaurant menus. Cannelloni of the day was very good. Will go again.
Loved the attention and service, creativity and depth of flavor, real passion
The experience of dining at Besa was outstanding. Our server, Brad, while new was well prepared and able to describe each selection with great detail. The calamari was not breaded and the most tender I have ever had. Branzino was excellent with deliciously crispy skin. My wife’s meal was delicious as well. The crispy Brussels sprouts where a nice side. Desserts were a nice finish to the meal. I look forward to returning to try their lunch menu as I work nearby.
Excellent. This is my new favorite restaurant. True food as art. Outstanding beautiful dishes that are original. Make sure to leave room for dessert. Excellent service to boot.
We had an excellent meal on the way to see a show at the Fisher. Food was delicious, server was very knowledgeable and kind, and accommodated our gluten free preferences.
Amazing and delicious. My new favorite restaurant in the 313. Actually, it was so good, it is my new favorite restaurant in Michigan.
An excellent experience. Our menu selections were not adventurous but the preparation was about the best we’ve ever had. The server explained the menu in great detail and made sure every detail was taken care of. He even ordered up our valet so the car would be there when we came out-it was raining hard.
Very unique presentations that were fabulously described by our server. We enjoyed all dishes but especially the salads and lamb shank. The owner greeted our party which topped off a very pleasant experience!
I was lead to believe it would be very pricey but did find the meal- decently priced -excellent flavor - beautiful presentation-but small portions
Wonderful dining experience. Excellent, friendly and knowledgeable service. Each dish carefully and expertly prepared. Had a great time and will go back.
Excellent service and food. Great dining experience.
Food and service was fantastic!!Beautiful setting. It is a bit pricey-but......
Ray was an amazing server!
Lovely evening at BESA. Our server Bradley is hands down one of the best servers I’ve ever had in all my fine dining experiences, very warm/kind and knowledgeable about the menu.
Everything we tried was delicious. The octopus was new to the menu and especially good. My party enjoyed the duck, bronzino and scallops for entre's
We celebrated 2 birthdays Friday night with 2 couples and had a great time. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive. The food was incredible. Perfect atmosphere as well. We had the Macarons and Brussels Sprouts as appetizers and then we all had the Scallops for dinner. We will be returning for sure. We didn’t have room for dessert but they brought us 2 amazing scoops of sorbet/ice cream with candles! We made room for those and they were so good. Highly recommended!
