Well prepared food. Mushroom soup of the day was not too creamy, well balanced and the wild mushrooms added an earthiness. Crab cakes were all crab and not overly spiced. This allowed the taste of the crab to dominate. King salmon cooked medium rare, delicate and accompaniments were nicely balanced
It was my son’s birthday and we experienced fabulous night.
Mister A’s was a great place for Sunday brunch in San Diego! We enjoyed the view, food and service and would highly recommend a visit here!
Seated in the very corner of the “B” room. What makes it the “B” room, the view. I do recommend a trip to the outdoor terrace after Dinner.
Best restaurant in San Diego! My wife and I got married there and 3 1/2 years later they still remembered us and made us feel very special. Thank you to the whole staff for an amazing dinner.
Food seemed to be mass produced
On Valentine's Day I chose Mr As for the special occasion. We were 15 minutes late due to terrible traffic. They were very accommodating. The atmosphere was good, but busy. Service was great. The food was very good, but I think it was not representative due to the holiday and the amount of people there. All in all, I'd say A-
The evening was wonderful in every way. The Valentine’s prix five dinner was sumptuous. The choices were exquisite and our plates were delicious. The service could not have been more attentive. The drinks were as ordered. And, of course, the view is the best in the city.
For Valentine’s Day we had a memorable evening with the service, attentive staff and waitress. The food supreme and of course the view was amazing overlooking San Diego and watching the planes land against a clear skyline.
Excellent service, food was good, excellent view, The view makes the price a neutral!
Superb. The only experience like it in San Diego. If you want a top notch kitchen, highly competent old world service and a splendiferous view, try Bertrand at Mister A’s. They also have covered valet parking.
Best Valentine’s Day we’ve ever had!!
A classic San Diego restaurant with spectacular views of the city. Great food and atmosphere.
Valentines date with my beautiful wife
I felt treated a little different because I am young the older, and clearly more wearily clients were served better and catered to more.
Great food and great service! The views are stunning! We absolutely loved it and we look forward to coming back often
Wonderful dinner on Valentines day week! The service was impeccable and the dishes superb. We had an incredible view table and lovely time.
Mark was fantastic! We enjoyed celebrating our birthdays!
The food was excellent as well as a service we enjoyed the food and the view .
This is the best restaurant in San Diego.
First visit - From the lobby hostesses to the wait staff and servers, all have welcoming smiles.
Our waiter Thomas was very knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly.
The one complaint I have is our table for two was positioned so my wife faced the beautiful city view while my back was to the view.
Arrived early for our evening, as we wanted to watch the view of downtown San Diego change from Day through in to to Evening. We were not disappointed, the views are wonderful. We sat at the bar gazing out of the windows towards the harbor and airport. Once sunset had passed we sat down for our meals.
My wife and I ordered foie gras for our appetizers, the taste was just ok, but could have done with a little more sear on both sides, i'm talking of just another 15 seconds per side here, my wife was a little disappointed with the lack of flavor. This could have turned a reasonably good appetizer into a really great one.
We then followed this with a waldorf salad , this was really fresh and well made, all the ingredients were very crisp, Overall a really well made salad along with a good portion size.
I ordered the Steak, with sides of Brussles and Carrots, this was a great hit with me, really spot on with the temperature, the sauce was amazing, the two sides were wonderful - this was a great 10/10 dish.
My wife ordered the Maine Lobster, which was poached and supposedly finished in butter, This dish was bad, not just a little either the lobster in my opinion was over cooked ( a little tough) and had zero flavor and certainly no butter, it seemed to have been over poached and then served. My wife also ordered the Truffle Mac n Cheese, this was also returned as at the bottom of the dish it was very watery, they replaced the Mac n Cheese within 5 mins and the second one was really good and so much better than the first.
We were asked if we wanted the chef to re-make the lobster dish, however as we all know, I would have finished my meal and then left my wife eating alone once the replacement dish arrived. So my wife decided not to have it replaced, The wait staff did sincerely apologize
Overall we have a good night, my meal was superb, however we left were disappointed with the lobster and foie gras. An expensive night ended in disappointment for my wife.
If you're looking for a place that offers great value for an exquisite meal and outstanding service, look no further.
My wife & I had a fabulous dinner on Saturday night. Food & Staff were outstanding. We will return!
Food was good, service was good but I asked for a little surprise for my GF, as it was her bday and they totally forgot. Bummer,, I would've expected tht for the type of restaurant they would've been able to do so
Best view at the city while having nice dinner. Service was awesome. Foie gras was marvelous. Great experience overall at this place.
Fantastic views of the city! The service was 1st class.
The setting and the view are great. The service and the food are wonderful. Loved the wines list. I’ve been here several times. Great experience every time.
What happened here? This restaurant has forgotten what good food and service are all about. That’s just too bad.😢
Usually our evenings at Mr A’s have been lovely, quiet, seated in a reasonable time (although seldom at the time reserved), with excellent, attentive service. This visit was an exception. We were seated more than 35 minutes after our reservation time. The table had a lovely view, but we were seated next to a table of loud businessmen in a festive mood. My husband has hearing aids and he was not able to adjust them to the noise for conversation at our table.
In addition, our server was very busy and didn’t seem to have the time for the usually excellent service. Our wine arrived well after our first course. My scallops weren’t to my taste, but I wasn’t asked why I didn’t eat them and the server was too busy to check after an initial inquiry.
Yes, I should have asked for a different table and searched out the server for a different dinner option, but that hasn’t been the kind of service I expect from Mr A’s
