Bernie's Restaurant & Bar - Manayunk
Crispy Chicken Sandwich
fried buttermilk chicken breast, lettuce, tomatoes, pickled cucumber, spicy sriracha sauce, brioche, fries
seasonal berries, orange cream cheese frosting, maple syrup
Ahi Tuna Nachos
seared ahi tuna, sliced jalapeños, diced avocado, pico de gallo, wonton chips, black sesame seeds & wasabi herb aioli
Just all very meh. Over cooked muscles. Dried out burger. Nothing special. Not worth a special trip.
Great service, good food selection and quality, and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
Awesome place good drinks and food I love it there
Spectacular food (I tried 3 difference dishes). Fun atmosphere. Young crowd. Great location. Will be returning soon
There were flies and fruit flies interrupting our experience and the food was just basic.
The service was great and we had a very sweet waitress. However they ran out of a lot things on the menu and it was brunch so there already wasn’t a ton of options to begin with. After placing my order I was told my French toast was no longer available but luckily the substitute which was the chicken sandwich was amazing. Probably wouldn’t dine at this location again I prefer the Glenside one
It was our first time trying out Bernies and we were excited to snag a brunch reservation day of! The atmosphere was sunny, open and contemporary. I loved all the nooks and crannies of this establishment! Unfortunately, the "smoked" salmon option (my brunch choice) was a gooey paste (like a tuna salad but gummier), and I could barely finish one bite. The waitress noticed the full plate at the end of our meal and asked, "You didn't like it?" I said "No, I thought it was going to be smoked salmon" and she just walked away with a shrug. We also purchased a lemon - ricotta pancake, omelette and an alcoholic beverage. My partner enjoyed the omelette and I loved the drink, the pancake was so-so. On a side note, the bathrooms were absolutely filthy - there was built up dirt, unclean toilets, and overall it felt grimy :( Unfortunately, our first experience will probably be our last.
Decent atmosphere. Meh burgers. Solid French Toast. Mediocre service.
There are better places on Main Street in this price point.
My drinks were fabulous. Food was only ok. Mushroom pizza was very bland. Our waitress was great.
Great options for the non-meat eating crowd. Everything was super fresh and interesting. The service was exceptional!
Excellent‼️I also must state that Our server Karina did an awesome Job and all with a bright smile‼️
I dined in and was given Maria as my server. Very nice girl, but she was not good as a server. To start we ordered our drinks and was told that the liquor brand offered was unavailable about 10 minutes after ordering. When I received my drink, there was a long hair going all throughout the lime, around the straw, and in and out the drink. I then asked Maria for a new drink which I then had to cancel. I watched Maria seat a new group, take their order, and they receive their drinks, and I still haven’t received my remake of my drink. This all took about 10-20 minutes . I then told her to just cancel my drink because we’ve been waiting forever. I have even finished my food within that time frame. Also, when we first ordered, I asked to have a pizza sent out first as my appetizer. She said okay, but instead they brought out our entrees, and the pizza came out like 15 minutes later. We ordered the curry chicken pizza, but they gave us just a pizza with chicken, no sauce or basil like the menu states. To add, they also messed up our French fry order as well, since we requested sweet potatoe fries. Maria continued to apologize the entire time, but still failed to serve us properly.
This was my second time. Both times were very disappointing.. the food was not good or fresh. Most of my arugula was yellow/bad and they gave me very little of what was included in the roasted beet salad. Not generous portions besides the large amount of wilted and yellow arugula. The service the first time was not well or experienced. The second time the service was better.. but after our meals were given to us we weren’t checked on a second time…my husband needed ketchup and I wasn’t given any dressing for my salad. His soda was also very flat and he asked for another one…the waitress even said she took a taste and agreed it was flat. We wont be returning.
Great live music, food and cocktails!
We arrived earlier than expected but wasn’t seated until our exact time which was 8:15. I informed the front individual who sat us that we have not seen or spoke with a waiter. She stayed “oh she said she came to speak with you guys about drinks” and walked away. The waiter did not come over to our table until 8:30pm. We decided we wanted to order two turkey burgers, the waiter stated she had to check to see if they were still available which they weren’t. She named about 10 things that weren’t available. We got up and left. The service was horrible and we really liked bernies but now we will NOT BE BACK.
It was the little things that added up for a less-than-great experience: waiting for water/empty water glasses (on a hot day), no AC, no share plates for apps at a table of 4, one entree (a wrap with a side salad) lagging 15 minutes behind other entrees.
Made a reservation for 4:15, and was never once told that the kitchen didn’t open until 5p until we had already sat down and ordered drinks.
I brought my boyfriend here and was embarrassed for suggesting it. Sat at the bar waiting for our reservation and wasn’t brought water or even acknowledged the whole 10-15 mins. Took another 10-15 mins once seated to be greeted or brought water. They didn’t have the entrees we came for. I understand being short staffed but the entire experience was extremely underwhelming. Such a cute inside to be wasted like it is. I have also heard from people in the industry that worked there that they do not pay their staff. Will not be returning.
45+ minute ticket time at 7:15pm on a Wednesday. Terrible rosé selection on menu. Bowl portions super small for price.
Bernie’s was a pleasant dining experience. The oatmeal could have been a little warmer as it came out cold.
Horrible service and food. Was really disappointed
We waited over 35 minutes at the table and the server never visited our table or said hi. She walked past us on multiple occasions and even talked to the three tables next to us. The server took two other tables order that sat after us. Only service we received was the hostess providing us with water 20 minutes after sitting. At first we didn’t notice the service because we were watching the game on tv. We end up walking out because the service was horrible. I would not recommend!
Great food and service as always!
I loved my server🥺
Very good food! I ordered the breakfast bloody and it did not disappoint
Food was good but took forever to come out. The cauliflower (wings) only came with 5 small pieces which were barely a mouthful and they cost $10. Then my entree the bbq Thai chicken came on half a plate and was not what the menu described . Half of my plate was empty and that was around $20. I left there hungry and spent $120. Would not recommend until there portion sizes increase.
The amount of time for someone to even acknowledge us after we were seated was entirely too long. Menu for brunch very limited and small portions.
Good overall experience! Very attentive waitress.
Our waitress was really nice, but the service was extremely slow. Cocktails were OK. Atmosphere is beautiful. Food was absolutely terrible and my husband and I are NOT picky. It's regularly priced for a Philadelphia restaurant but now when your food sucks. I would not go back unless there is like a new chef and some better servers.
Food was okay, one in our party did not get their food until the rest of us were almost done. That was a bit of a bummer, and we thought we probably wouldn’t have to pay for it since it didn’t really come with the rest of the meal and things were cold.
The restaurant staff was pleasant but rushed. My biggest issue was that the food lacks flavor! I had the fried chicken sandwich it lacked seasoning and flavor. We also were sat near the kitchen were all I could smell was fried food. I did enjoy my drink, “the wake up call”. Don’t think I will be returning.
Great ambiance & food but drinks can use some improvement
Delicious food and friendly service! The back patio has a fireplace and was a perfect place to start venturing back out safely.
The Drink my husband had was horrible so they comp’d it, which was good. But I ordered a $13 goat cheese appetizer, and it was not worth the money. Fried piece of goat cheese with no flavor, and a small green salad. Don’t think I’ll he coming back unfortunately. I liked the Bernie’s in University better.
The place is cute and the wines are fairly priced, but the food was not that great. Sounded great on the menu but not prepared well. Everyone at the table got something different and not one person truly liked it.
Food was excellent. We were out on the back patio which had great ambience between the fire and the lights. Fairly quiet back there too which was nice.
So yummy! Good variety in the menu. Burger was delicious!
Last 2 visits very short staffed
Our server was not attentive. We ordered an app with the intention of ordering dinner but the kitchen closed, which we were not informed. I had to ask for our check twice. It was also very bright.
Place was great our service was horrible
Waitress only came by twice, to take our order and to give us the check. The appetizer plus entree came out at the same time which was unacceptable 😑
