My first time having Chicken Mango Sausage - delicious! It was offered as part of a Benedict or a Scramble. I love Benedicts and BSC has 6 different Benedicts to choose among. I will go back to try different menu items. The only drawback is the giant room with bench seating around the perimeter amplifies the noise in the restaurant. It got noisy quickly on a Friday afternoon.
All food was great, very good draft beer selection. Staff is always pleasant, efficient and friendly.
Eclectic interesting menu with a tasty variety of foods and drinks well prepared, beautifully presented and well-priced. We highly recommend the Sludgehammer cocktail made with beet juice, rosemary and gin! And the gorgeous seafood platter.
The room itself is too big and bare to provide a cozy charming dinner setting. And of course, the big room unpadded by furnishings and niceties like tablecloths and seat cushions make the room extra clatteringly noisy.
But for a flavorful dinner before the movies or a play at nearby theaters, the Berkeley Social Club strikes a good middle note between low-end Berkeley student grub and high-end Berkeley gourmet preciousness.
Interesting Korea-meets-hipster menu. Service could have been more attentive (it took a while to get refills and to get our check). Portions are large— consider sharing.
Oh my God, the Club Moco bested any Loco Moco I have ever eaten in the Islands! Great job!!!
I was referred by some close friends. Thank you!
This place had super good food!! I had the Ahi Bene. AWESOME!! My hubby had the Pajun pancake with poached egg. Now This dish was AMAZING! A must try~
My wife and I shared the appetizer platter at happy hour for $18 and it was enough food for the two of us. Very tasty!
Would not go back. Very expensive for what you get. $18 for 2 eggs scramble with little vegetables. They tried to fill up your plate with toast and potatoes. Service was lacking and I had to ask for coffee and water refill. There are better breakfast places in the area for less.
Food and ambiance were excellent! Would definitely go back.
Great dinner at this restaurant! Made a reservation for 11 which they easily accepted. The food was unique and delicious, out quickly and well done. Our server was adorable, working hard to ensure all of our needs were met.
Would definitely recommend- and plan to visit again.
Pork bowl was a bit overseasoned for my taste, and the ground seaweed on top ruined the taste. I had to try to scoop it off. Mom really enjoyed her chicken salad. The noise level was very loud - so much so that we often couldn't communicate at all.
Noisy large place w/insufficient servers. Unremarkable Korean food.
everything was good, unfortunately there was a strange miscommunication about a gluten free order. The order came. A server came back to retrieve it (I dont believe you got gluten free), minutes later the same plate was re-delivered (oh, yes, you got the gluten free.) We actually did not get the gluten free, and it took a 3rd server visit to confirm this. We liked all the food and they were pleasant.
Horribly slow service!
The Berkeley Social Club is the place to go for excellent and excellently presented food. The only problem I have with it is the noise. I wish there was something to be done about that.
Terrific atmosphere and great food!
Great food, ambiance, service and value! I had the Japjae noodles w/bulgolgi and added a runny egg on top! It was by far the favorite out of all 5 of our entrees; ) The sampler appetizer plate was also very good and would recommend that as well. Thank you BSC!
Really fun with delicious food. Felt Hawaiian Korean😁
The location is very good, but it's very noisy and the service is only ok. It seems that there wasn't enough workers as they needed for a Friday night and we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated when we had a reservation. Food service was also slow. The food was pretty good though.
I booked this place for a dinner date with my boyfriend on a Friday evening. It was quite noisy but I didn’t mind that because it seemed like the place to be. My boyfriend mentioned he wanted a quieter place to converse so keep that in mind if you go during busy hours. The cocktails took a while to arrive to our table but they were the highlight of the meal. The food was underwhelming. I perused the menu beforehand and it looked delicious but unfortunately the actual food did not deliver. Also to note there are a lot of spicy dishes. The server described a seafood dish I was looking at as 7-8 out of 10 as spicy. The spicy pork is 5 out of 10 spicy which is what I ended up going with. That was pretty true to his description.
Great service for a pre-theatre dinner, despite the place being almost full. Bulgogi tacos were delicious. Nice selection of apps and wine/beer on happy hour menu. Cheesy corn was tasty but needs more Cheetos.
Very pleasant expirence. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly.
Great Korean fusion, fun spot to hang out on a date or with friends. Service was fast too!
Delicious! Service was a little slow, but the food was amazing. Generous portions!
This was my second visit and we were all pretty unimpressed with the food. KFC Caesar Salad has almost no chicken (and way too many croutons) and is pretty boring, the bulgogi tacos were ok but the meat is not great quality and there wasn't much to them. Drinks were so-so. With so many great food options in the neighborhood we probably won't return.
Food portion s were great and tasty even for restaurant week special deal... We were able to choose from 3 groups of items for both the $25 and $35 fixed price menu. I don't like spicy, my husband does and both our choices were very very tasty. Interesting and good cocktails and beer selection. Very courteous waiters. Never felt rushed
Amazing experience from the time we arrived. All of the staff was incredibly attentive. The food and drinks were amazing. Highly recommend for a nicer lunch spot.
Food is great, but service super spotty. An appetizer we ordered never arrived and the server ran away too fast for us to even ask about it.
We ordered and it took about 35 minutes to get our food and there was only two other parties in the whole place and they had already eaten and were just finishing up.
I finally had to ask where is our food and it came out 10 minutes later.
The environment was comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed the food, particularly the Dino foot appetizer.
BSC is best for breakfast. Dinner was a disappointment.
Loved the burgers
The food was delicious and very reasonably priced.
A wide variety of Excellent Korean food. Good service and fun ambiance. Love it!
Good food, energetic vibe. Service was pretty slow, and it was pretty loud. My fourth time there; lots of interesting menu choices and fun vibe makes it a solid choice, even if it is not always the most amazing service experience.
the food was excellent. the service was a little slow - perhaps because they were understaffed. and at 5pm in the evening the place was so dark we couldn't see our food.
Dining with a large party before a performance on UC Berkeley campus, our waiter helped us get our food quickly and out in time to make it to the show. We had a great time and would have stayed longer given the chance. Fried chicken was great, dolsolot was good. Some of our group had salads and they looked good as well. Would go again and try other Korean food.
Good options nice crossover btw asian dishes and western palate. Nice looking place good layout great service
Love this place!
Quite pricy for what you get. For $16 a dish, I did not expect to see so much white rice on the plate. There are many other places that serve similar food for much cheaper. While the food was good, I felt like we were paying for the decor, hype, and ambiance as opposed to quality of food.
