Absolutely perfect. Real good food, real good price, real good experience. If you’re looking for authentic French food without a pretentious experience, this is the place.
An excellent culinary tune-up or teaser for our upcoming trip to the Bergerac area in France.
Food was delicious and as expected. Went there specially for the escargots and not disappointed. thank you Emily and Michelle. The chef came over and chatted with us. thank you.
As always, everything was perfection.
Wonderful, small place with a solid wine list and excellent food.
Great experience. Loved the food and good attention to dietary concerns. Plan to come back often!!
It was our first time and we loved the scallop appetizer, the snails, the duck entree, and the halibut. The fromage appetizer was was lacking, needed less seeds and jam and more cheese. The pots de chocolate was grainy, and pear and almond tart was greasy and lacked almond flavor so less than desirable. We will definitely be back.
Our 'Go-To' choice for special occasions. This might have been our best meal yet! Mouth watering and very memorable. We feel very fortunate to have this gem in our neighborhood.
Really great food! Nice, quiet, intimate setting.
Food and service are both fantastic. Order anything and you won't be dissatisfied.
Outstanding even though the halibut was ovecooked and we had two somewhat noisy people at a table too close to us.
The food was exquisite. We enjoyed our experience very much and look forward to returning!
Bergerac has become our go-to spot when we want great food, great service and a quiet meal.
Excellent food and service. It’s a small space inside but also offers patio seating. Brunch was delicious and I look forward to dinner there someday soon!
Wonderful experience all around, excellent food and outstanding service.
Birthday lunch with a great friend. Everything from the server/service to the exquisite food was just perfect. Want to go there with my sweetie, and would highly recommend Bergerac to anyone.
Such an outstanding dining experience! Tried to get in twice prior to this first visit but they were closed for private events, and I know why, they’re great! I look forward to working my way through the menu and back again. Thank you for the bottom of my belly!
Excellent food and service
Lovely place to enjoy a delicious brunch! It's a great addition to the Woodstock neighborhood.
The location, ambiance and wait staff were all excellent. The food was not excellent. The fromage platter was good but small. The bread was sparse and missed the cruchiness of a normal french baguette. The salads and soup were good but nothing exceptional or particularly french. The duck and vegetables were extremely salty. The special lamb/beef was over spiced and the ragu de champignons was plain and under slated. The pear sundae and pot de chocolate desserts were excellent.
A wonderful little hidden neighborhood gem with authentic French bistro food, a creative cocktail list and a most reasonable wine list. Indoor as well as outdoor seating. Very friendly service staff. I'll definitely make this a frequent choice in my dining experience.
I really wanted this restaurant to be excellent but it was only okay. We started with cocktails — her French 75 and my Manhattan were both on the sweet side. Too much simple syrup and too much sweet vermouth, but overall okay. We should have waited to order our appetizer since they rush out the escargot which was perfectly flavored with garlic, parsley and salt but not very hot. Several more minutes in the oven and they would have been outstanding and we could have finished our drink. My wife had the lamb and I had duck confit. Again well prepared but both served on a cold plate. After we began eating other tables around us were offered a rack of lamb special that my wife would have ordered over the menu lamb stew-type dish. It was never offered to us. We did get help with the wine list and had a good choice despite most wines in the $50-$60 range for $15 bottles of wine.
As the night went on the restaurant got busy and they were very understaffed. We decided to forego dessert and after dinner drinks as it would have taken way too long. Lots of potential if they work on some very fixable things.
My friend and I had a wonderful dining experience at Bergerac. She had recently returned from Provence and four years ago I had spent time in the Dordogne so we were jazzed for a “French” experience and we were not disappointed. She thought her duck was fabulous, tender and so flavorful and as good as any she had had in France. My Ragu de Champignon was scrumptious and comforting with rustic polenta and tender mushrooms. We forced ourselves to enjoy the poire “belle Helene” pear tart....yumm! Their wine choice is reasonable and the atmosphere and wait staff is charming. Our wait person was a doll and so efficient and kind. I am sad I live far away as I would frequent Bergerac often.
Found this new little French bistro at Easter and came back for my birthday this July. They have a nice brunch menu and prices seem reasonable. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 3:00. Service was excellent but then again we were the only ones there. Food came out timely. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating as one person in our party was very late, yes you Kristyn! The only thing I thought a bit odd was that we all had to order from the brunch or from the dinner. I guess I understand it’s before dinner, so I was okay with brunch which is kinda what everyone else wanted to order from. They did give us a beautiful birthday desert free of charge for both myself and granddaughter as we were both celebrating. I also received a call before our reservation as to whether we had special needs since I’d indicated it was a birthday celebration which I thought was very nice.
I would like to try their dinner menu next time. Again prices seemed reasonable.
Bergerac is truly a neighborhood find. The cuisine is authentic and interesting. Delicious too!
We have visited for two of their "special events" which utilize Oregon ingredients in a very innovative way. A wonderful communal meal. Enjoy great food and meet new people.
They always have some excellent wine selections as well.
It was a special dinner and it was fabulous! A bit noisy because every seat was occupied, but the service was great throughout the evening and every course was delicious and unlike anything any of us had tasted before. Blackberry gazpacho, house cured salmon, meltingly tender pork, and a creamy chiboust for dessert - we would eat it all again and oooh and ahhh a second time.
Second time I have been here and it was as good as I remembered. You can spend time here and not feel rushed by the staff. And you will want to have time to savor the experience. The food is delicious and a good value for the high quality ingredients. This is a small, intimate dining space tastefully decorated and pleasant. I came early on Sundays each time and there were few people there, although quite a few more people arrived by the time we were leaving. It seems like the small space could feel a bit crowded if there was a full restaurant. On-street parking is adequate. The servers are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu offerings. This will become one of our family's special places to go with some regularity.
We loved sitting outside on the porch on a warm summer evening. The service was attentive and friendly and the food was exceptional. We will be back!
The food was very delicious. It was nice sitting outside and we got just the right amount of service. Overall a great dinner and I would go there again.
Bergerac has become one of our favorite places to dine. This time it was to celebrate the 33rd wedding anniversary of close friends. Glad we went.
We just spent a lovely evening on the patio of Bergerac. The service was friendly, helpful and just outstanding. We indulged in several appetizer, salads, entrees and desserts. Each serving, each bite was delicious and exquisite. The outside seating is lovely and the inside looks inviting and intimate as well.
I loved the attention to detail on all levels. Everyone in our party of 6 is looking forward to a return visit and another amazing meal. One of the best meals I have had in Portland!
This restaurant was unknown to us, so wanting to try a new place for dinner, we took the chance. We’re glad that we did.
The location is pretty small and the loud table next to us overpowered the intimacy of a great little date night experience. Not a fault if the restaurant whatsoever.
The escargot was a great appetizer treat. Butter and garlic made for a rich, decadent starter. They are SO rich, that for two people the half dozen size for us was more than sufficient.
I had the Lamb Navarin which was delicious. The lamb was lean and fork tender. The garlic green beans accompanied nicely, and the potato gratin was lava-hot and very satisfying.
My wife enjoyed the Ragu de Champignon and loved it. The accompanying mixed greens made it perfect for her.
The dessert was almost more than we could manage, but certainly ended the meal perfectly.
We will be back!
The escargot was great, but the lamb and the duck were too salty. The lamb was heavy and overcooked.
We had a great time — good food, good service, perfect outside dining. What a wonderful overall experience! It’s our second time dining at Bergerac. We will definitely come back and spread the word.
Wonderful neighborhood spot! Service was lovely and the food was above our expectations. Delicious and a great bargain too!
First time there and this is a hidden GEM. The food was delicious and the service excellent.
Highly recommend the Dutch Hash 🤗
Simply outstanding regional French cuisine in a comfortable family run Bistro.
Absolutely lovely meal.
Great food, great wines, charming atmosphere, lovely service. Highly recommended.
