Greeter at door was less-than-enthusiastic about seating us. Bathrooms were not very clean.

Usually when I’m in DC Ben’s is a go to and doesn’t disappoint but this time the service was very slow and our server inattentive. Got there around 11 and it wasn’t crowded but they were out of coffee so therefore ordered tea which took 20 minutes to get after asking 3 different people. The food was decent but not worth dealing with the subpar service and the value for the food has gone down. Next time I will opt for somewhere else.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday. Amazing. Great chill vibe (they played 2000s R&B music). Food was also really good!

The food & service was outstanding. The band was not great & was much too loud but I think that's because where were seated. Would totally recommend & I'll be returning

I truly enjoyed Bens Next Door. Our server was outstanding. He recommended the Duke which was strong but good. We ate the Chicken & Waffles which were soft and delicious. I highly recommend it.

Great historic location is a must see!
Wonderful food although the chili was too spicy for me but others will enjoy it.

You're coming here for great food. Eating here is an investment so they can upgrade the tables and chairs, and do justice to what's coming out of the kitchen. Thoughtful staff, interesting menu executed well. This place has a heart.

Theres a lot of potential for this location. One of the major barriers I see this location having is: lack of staffing.

I've been a Washingtonian transplant for the last 7 years and have always been delighted to take visiting guests to Ben's Next Door as I believe it to be a staple Capitol restaurant. My recent trip however really and truly has me rethinking taking visitors here. My server was AMAZING so this review in no part reflects on the service received. The new condensed menu is extremely lackluster. I heard that they've shifted management and it clearly shows in the removal of some staple menu items. For example, the absence of the organic cheese grits, sweet potato fries, Asian bliss wings, etc. was shocking. The inability to order from Ben's chili bowl has apparently also been severed. I hope that this trial run of shortening the menu and testing out new things doesn't last much longer so that I can visit again and have some of the favorites that make BND memorable!

Made a reservation for dinner prior to a concert next door at the Lincoln Theater. Everybody was friendly and pleasant. Got there before the place filled up. Had wings and some drinks. We were pleased with what we had as appetizers and waited to order dinner. Well, the place filled up and the wait staff seemed to have a hard time keeping up. Ordered two bacon cheeseburgers and 35 minutes later still did not get our food. The concert started at 8:00 so by 7:15 we decided to cancel the order and had popcorn at the show for dinner. I felt bad because our waiter was very nice but I think he got too busy and maybe forgot to place our order??? Hate to give a bad review but want to be truthful. Maybe they need to amp up the wait staff on concert nights. Makes sense, right? We did like the atmosphere and the convenience of being right next to the theater was perfect. Honestly, I'd give them another try next time.

We went to Ben’s Next Door because we were attending a concert at the theater next door. The food was excellent. Their cornbread muffins with honey butter is amazing! I got the shrimp and grits and was not disappointed! Great night! The only downside is there is no local parking garage. We actually had to walk from P and 15, 6 blocks in the snow. They really need to work on more public garages.

The food was great. I don’t think they utilize open table as I left a note that it was our guests birthday and asked for a special desert after our meal. However it didn’t happen. But service was okay. Staff could be nicer.

This is a place every Washingtonian should visit at least once. I had a taste for a half-smoked and they satisfied my craving! The Mumbo wings were delicious too! So was the catfish and shrimp baskets. And I highly recommend the white sangria!
