I was furious because one of my 2 guests was served a fish main course with ham in it when she eats no meat - and there was NO indication in the menu that there would be meat in the dish.
Unfortunately my guest who did not want to make a fuss nor make us uncomfortable only told one of the staff at the end of the meal. There was hardly an apology, even though the waitress did admit that there was no indication of meat or ham on the menu.
I find this totally unacceptable and definitely very disappointing.

We just had an amazing dinner here tonight. The food was great, the service exceptional and we loved the ambiance . It was wonderful and and omg, we ordered six desserts that were exceptional. And yes I had the truffles on my scallops and it was divine!

The wait staff are French, very knowlegable about the and attentive. The restaurant is attractive but was full the night we were there and very noisy. The noise detracted from dining with friends who wanted to converse. Food was excelllent and overall the experinece was enjoyable.

This was my first time dining at the restaurant. Love the fact that we were seated right away when we got to the restaurant. The brunch was very good, and the service was awesome. Will definitely recommend to others who enjoy food as much as I do.

We first visited Benoit during Restaurant Week and return to celebrate my wife's birthday. Could not have made a better choice. It's pricey, but the lunch menu includes a prix fixe (two items $32, three $38). Absolutely worth it. Service, both times we've been there, simply outstanding.

Authentic and outstanding French cuisine. They greet you in French. Chef's tasting price fixe menu is a real value and a culinary adventure.

Muy buena la comida y el servicio de camareros. Igualmente los petit four al final y los pequeños panes de queso al principio fueron excelentes. Creo que pueden mejorar aun mas si la atención del host a los detalles fuera mayor.

Went to Benoit when it first opened many years ago but sadly due to a 7,000 distance( we moved to Hawaii) we haven’t returned until yesterday. Still gorgeous. Still amazingly comfortable and the food is awesome. Just to mention one dish; the Quenelles. My wife makes them with shrimp. Here they make them with pike, more traditional. My wife who is a chef/perfectionist died over this dish. And the wine list is great. Being former wine Educators from NYC for 30 years the Chassagne Montrachet from Bachelet-Ramonet was worth twice the $125? We had a very special waitress that was so passionate about her service and wine knowledge.

Benoit has been great in the past, but this time service wasn’t very good. Salmon was unbelievably overcooked and dry, but no one ever asked us how our food was. No one asked us if we would want to put in an order for soufflé since it takes 15 min to make. Just showed up 10 min after we finished entrees and said “do you want dessert” without bothering to bring menu.

We went to Benoit this past weekend for Brunch. We have been before and it was as good as I remember. From the moment we arrived it was classic French bistro with a modern twist. Refined but up to date, wonderful, knowledgeable servers, great bartender, and the food was excellent as well.
We had the salmon, poulet roti with fries and the mixed green salad, which was perfectly dressed.
Always a treat, it never disappoints.

My husband’s salmon and my scallops were like warm at best. We waited a while for the food to come out, the place was just a bit off tonight. We are not sure we will come back , at least for a while.

My wife and I recently had a lovely Pre-theater dinner at.Benoit. Our waiter steered us to the special tasting menu and we were very glad he did. Every course was delicious and well prepared especially the duck breast. Even the dessert offering was a pleasant surprise of green apple slices soaked in a sweet sauce with a crunchy sweet wafer on top. We picked our own wine (a lovely Sancerre) and finished up and headed off to the play. Highly recommend Benoit.

One of the best French restaurants we’ve ever been to. Nice French wine list by the glass. Have been going to la bonne soup right down the street for years and just happened upon this sparkling gem. We will definitely return. The rotisserie chicken and French onion soup are out of this world. Skip the profiterole‘s.

Benoit is a hidden gem. I ate there two nights in a row while in New York because there were so many selections that I wanted to try. For the first night, I had the chef's tasting menu which was outstanding. The roast duck and the foie gras were particularly good. For the second night, I had the escargot and poulet roti. Again, both were outstanding. I do not usually brag about bread and butter but it is memorable at Benoit.

We made our reservation, for a party of 4, late in the evening and arrived a few minutes late. After walking in the door we were greeted by the hostess and asked if she could take our jackets. Subsequently we were shown to our table. The experience started off on a good note. Then, in a restaurant of approximately 50 tables, roughly 20 of which were occupied, we were seated at the service entrance to the kitchen. This was not a major impediment to the enjoyment of our evening. It was when we had been seated for around 5 minutes before we had been approached by any of the service staff. I had made eye contact with a couple of the servers as they walked past until we were eventually presented with menus, again, a minor inconvenience and not a detriment to our overall enjoyment. It wasn't after we placed our drink order that the frustration impacted the enjoyment where one of our party members ordered a beer. She asked our waiter if they had bud lite, she was told "yes" they did. The waiter came back with the drinks, including an already opened bottle of beer, at which point he informed our party member that they don't have bud lite but instead the bartenders opinion of what the equivalent was. Our party member was offered a taste, to which she obliged. It was not what she ordered. After some hesitation and possibly a minor language barrier with the waiter, she declined the beer and went with white wine instead. The waiter asked if anyone else at the table would like the beer as it had been opened, I accepted the beer. Where i was ultimately frustrated was the fact that we were charged $9 for the beer. Suffice it to say that the overall experience was good and I would return. The staff were pleasant and well versed on the menu. Above all the food was fantastic!

We have enjoyed Benoit in New York and in Paris multiple times over many years but Thanksgiving dinner was the ultimate test. It was our first Thanksgiving after the loss of my husband and our adult children and I couldn't handle the thought of our traditional home-cooked meal at home without him. In checking out Benoit for lunch with a friend earlier in the week I made note of their French influenced traditional Thanksgiving mea. That and the sense of eating in an elegant place with superb staff/service and probably no young children led me to an immediate booking. It was a perfect choice--calm, delicious and adult. We'd go back in a minute for a holiday celebration--as well as a normal lunch or dinner.
