This special event invites guests to immerse themselves in the flavors and ambiance of the South of France, right in the heart of Manhattan. Set in Benoit’s elegant main dining room, the evening will feature a communal, family-style feast that captures the essence of a Provençal summer. The seasonal tasting menu will showcase regional specialties from the Mediterranean coast, including: • Fresh oysters • Daily crudo selection • Sun-kissed tomato salad • The centerpiece of the evening: a rich, aromatic bouillabaisse,—an iconic seafood stew of Marseille—that was once the humble meal of local fishermen, simmered with the day’s catch, Provençal herbs, and saffron. Alain Ducasse should hang up his toque. The food was abysmal. My quenelles were frozen inside and had to be returned. An appetizer that claimed to be tapenade had no taste of olives and, the worst, a desert of profiteroles consisted of a plate of tiny dough balls next to a dish of ice cream and a separate dish of cold chocolate sauce. The steps to the downstairs bathroom are fraying carpet patched with electrical tape. NEVER AGAIN

Seems more to be Alain by Benoit Ducasse rather than Benoit by Alain Ducasse. The place seems a little bit too pretentious for a Bistro. I found the place overpriced for what I got. The pâté en croûte a little bit fade. Thanks god for the salt and pepper. The Quenelle is fine. However, $40 is expensive for that dish. The Baba au rhum is ok. Nothing really special. Regarding the bread, this is not a good advertisement for French bread. The bread probably stayed out the whole day and lost the crunchiness of its crust and the freshness of its crumb. After you took care of the check, you will get a madeleine. Like the bread, freshness and crunchiness were missing. It is fine but far from what I expected from Alain Ducasse. As a French restaurant, I prefer going back to Nougatine rather than visiting Benoit again.

I’ve had better meals at Benoit. The crudite was really disappointing. Looking like the kind of selection one would pick up in a supermarket. Shame.
