Benoit Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Took European visitors to Benoit for lunch in November; they loved it and said it was one of the best meals that they had ever had! It is a go-to restaurant in New York with good friends or business colleagues for a sophisticated ambiance and wonderful food.
Accessible Alain Ducasse. The creativity in the kitchen is superb as is the service. Our second time there and looking forward to the third. The tart flambé is delicious. The scallops and duck entrees, exceptional. And the “make your own” profiteroles are the perfect desert. Enjoy!!
We used to come to Benoit once a week as it's in our neighborhood. Unfortunately it is not the same since they renovated and management changed. Prices have gone up, food is ordinary/bland and service was extremely shoddy. We were so sad to find our "local" is no longer the wonderful place it used to be.
I did mention our disappointment to the manager and all he said was that he came from Paris to make sure it was run properly. I'm not even sure what that meant?
Overall, for the price, there are many other restaurants in the area for a better experience.
I have been enjoying Benoit's excellent food and friendly ambiance for many years. There was a drop in level of the food for awhile, but since the renovation the cuisine has reached new heights. My only complaint would be that the new renovation has lost the charm of the previous design. There is a certain coldness to the interior which is closer to a hotel dining room than to a French Bistro. However, I will continue to enjoy the delicious cuisine and would certainly continue to recommend Benoit to friends.
I took my niece here for a birthday brunch/lunch. The space is lovely and the service was very nice. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the experience very, very much. We shared an Alsatian tart and onion soup to start. She had the eggs florentine and I had the roast chicken. We share Nutella crepes for dessert. It was all excellent (especially the chicken/frites).
Had a lovely birthday dinner with my daughter at a Benoit. The delightful cheddar puffs that were offered with our wine were delectable and just a hint of the flavors to come. A comfortable and pleasant dining room and warm welcoming and talented staff. Top notch!
We were offered reservations at 2:45PM or 5PM. When we arrived at 2:45PM, the restaurant and buffet table were almost empty, and we were told the kitchen would close at 3PM (until 5PM).
We would not have booked 2:45PM to be rushed and alone in the restaurant if we were told
their hours upfront. We've enjoyed and recommended Benôit in the past but we may not return.
What a wonderful gem in the city! Fantastic service and excellent food --we were swept away back to our real Paris experiences and the waitstaff were incredibly knowledgeable and many were incredibly Parisian. We loved visiting with Jessica and reminiscing memories of Paris. That moment of swept away was worth every drop of wine, every delicious morsel of food and the value was unbelievable! Thank you for an awesome experience!
We are frequent patrons of this restaurant because it is close to our apartment and the food is generally good. Yesterday, the noise level was so high and so annoying that we swore never to return. The restaurant has had a revolving door of maitre d's, which means that there is no institutional memory about frequent guests and we do not get a good table. It's like walking into an unknown restaurant each time. We have many other options and will take them.
Given the reputation of the new chef, the food was just so so. Nothing special. Even the Quenelles were less interesting than say 2 years ago. Much less sauce! The Profiteroles were competent, not better than that. vey good wine list. Service used to be slow and haphazard. It is better now but not crisp enough. There is no effort here to make outstanding Bistro food. I take no pleasure in saying this. I ate at the original, pre-Ducasse Benoit in Paris several times. There is no possible comparison with what the then owner Michel Petit offered and today's Benoit.
My first time dining at Benoit. The service was excellent. My waitress was very nice and cared that I enjoyed the food I had ordered. She was so nice that I didn't have the heart to tell her (because she helped me w/ my selection) that my dinner arrived less than warm and the scallops did not taste fresh. The foie gras terrine was very good. My meal came with complimentary cheese puffs (YUMMY!!) PLUS a bread basket and room temperature butter. I would definitely come back to try the other entrees and then I'll invite my friends. They are kid-friendly, because one of the waiters offered madeleines to the kids sitting next to me. I wasn't offered any... ( ._.)
Delightful classic French bistro romantic feel. Food and atmosphere wonderful. Bartender friendly and helpful, chatted with him and he recommended an amazing bottle of wine before we even got to the sommelier as we wanted to start with wine and bring to table. Don't see how you could go wrong here...charming and we'll be back!
