I was excited to check out this new location since it is closer to my house. The inside looks very nice but they have a lot of work to do when it comes to the quality of food service. The place was super super smokey. You could even see folks waving their hands because of the smoke from the grill. I don’t know if the ventilation system on the grills weren’t working well or what, but please get this fixed. Our server was not the most interactive and very quiet. The amount of rice we got was very little compared to any other Benihana location. I don’t if it’s because of a the tariffs, even though the prices increases extremely, I would still think we would get the same amount of food. Even the vegetable sides they give you, we barely got any onions and zucchini. You would think we ordered a kids meal. It’s a great location and convenient but I probably will not be back to this location due to the small portions and very quiet non-interactive chef.

We had a great time celebrating a birthday party. Our chef was entertaining and dinner was fantastic. Steak cooked to perfection and the lobster was also done right. We also ordered the fried rice, it was delicious!! We will be back to celebrate another birthday real soon.

I visited Benihana for a birthday celebration and had a mixed experience. Our server was very attentive and provided great service throughout the meal, which we appreciated. However, the chef who prepared our food appeared to be relatively new, and the performance—one of the key reasons I usually enjoy coming to Benihana—felt unpolished. There were a few noticeable mistakes during the cooking show, such as missing one fried rice order and deviating from the typical format of the Benihana experience. Additionally, while the food was generally good, the chicken fried rice and steak were slightly overcooked. Overall, it was still a fun evening, but the performance aspect didn’t quite live up to the usual Benihana standard.

Benihana is a fun dining experience. The food quality is good. Danny our chef was excellent. Value is ok. You go for the novelty not for cuisine. Steak a little skimpy , they fill you with carbs. Bar drinks are very expensive and small. Drink before you go.

We had the 45 minute power lunch today at new San Mateo location and all four of us were impressed! Wait time - we were few minutes earlier than our reservation time yet she seated us right away. There are dedicated tables for power lunch special so make sure you reserve this experience online and mention to the host. Menu - It’s a limited menu and everyone in your group must order a power lunch. There’s a choice of soup or salad and one of several entrees at two price points, all under $20 Food - our group ordered tofu, chicken, shrimp and filet mignon. The vegetables were precut and veg fried rice was cooked in back (not at table). Everything was excellent Benihana quality, and a good portion size for lunch. Great value under $20 so I will definitely be back for power lunch and the full dinner menu. I’m reluctant to post this review because once word gets out, this place will be packed!

Horrible service from the front host station to the watered down drinks to the chefs very first time cooking. He made the rice last when everyone dinner was cold He didn’t give vegetables to everyone at the table. I feel bad that the restaurant made him go out and cook when he clearly is not ready for that. The bar staff totally slow and did not know how to make even the simplest drinks. Will never return to this location
