Apoya a Benihana - Milwaukee durante el COVID-19
It was my mom first time being there and it was for her birthday. She loved it and we all had a wonderful time. The only thing that bothered us was they tried to seat 3 other people with us which we didn’t even know they did that but we said something because it wasn’t social distancing and they solved the problem so we was glad about that. We most definitely will be back because the chef and everybody was wonderful. P.S. I think y’all should let ppl know that everybody has to be there to get seat cuz we didn’t know and had to wait but no biggie. We know for next time
It was very nice, and the food was Great!
Everything was great the waiter just accidentally spilled the soup on me it wasn’t a lot which is why I still rated everything well but she did do it lol. The chef was amazing!
The place is a dump. The service is barely useful. The explanations are too complicated to be delivered by the server and the menu descriptions are very poorly written.
The upcharges are everywhere.
The food is way over cooked and low quality.
The only good thing was that our 7yo boy loved the grilling show.
Best birthday dinner
Waitress forgot drink orders and forgot to bring back refills when confirmed. We waited 30 minutes for our waitress to complete our billing. She took the card and disappeared. When we attempted to find a manager, he was handing out menus and seating people. Need more staff in order to keep up with busy nights.
The entry and waiting area needs to be updated. I was ready to walk out. Not very welcoming at all.
The waiter, Floyd, provided great service and of course, the food was delicious.
Our experience at Benihana's was poor on multiple factors. Our party of 5 had a reservation for 7 pm, and 2 of us arrived early to enjoy a cocktail prior. The bartender was in a mood and it got worse when we asked for a drink menu. He disappeared for no less than 15 minutes, with no other bartender in sight. He was assisting with take-out orders and at the sushi bar so I'm not sure if they were short of staff or he preferred that over bartending. Either way we had one drink during our 40 minute visit. Our companions arrived at 7:05 and we went to the hostesses as directed to when we arrived. She said it would be a short wait for a table but we were next. After two other groups were called for their table, I inquired what the delay was and she indicated they were cleaning our table and we'd be next. After another 10 minutes of waiting I asked the purpose of a reservation and she indicated that they can't control how much people talk at their tables and it's hard to estimate when the next table will be available. She said they need to group us to fill up a table so that also can cause a delay in seating. At 7:35 we were told our table was ready and to walk upstairs. While it was busy in the dining area, there were 3-5 hibatchi tables open so I'm not sure why the wait. The prep was entertaining and the food was of quality but the evening was ruined by the lack of bar hospitality, poor communication and late seating. We don't envision ever returning....there are too many better options in Milwaukee.
Our waiter was rude and short with us. From the beginning when asked about appetizers he rudely commented how they weren't a Chinese establishment but Japanese (Something my children had no prior experience to know and were simply asking about it.) He could've responded in a more respectful way as his tone was negative. We sat often with empty glasses. He was quick to remove things that were still partially full from the table and left the empty dishes that were placed on the sides taking unfinished food. We were celebrating a birthday and had notified them a head of time. They didn't celebrate it. Yes we could've said something but at this point we were done and ready to go. The sushi was great along with the salmon and other main courses however, the fried rice didn't have a lot of flavor to it. I've had more interactive chef's, but ours wasn't bad. Wouldn't go back even despite having a gift certificate.
It would’ve been a great experience, however my lobster was forgotten. When I was finally able to notify the waitress I was done with my dinner who then told me lobster did not come with my meal (oceans treasure) I told her it was on the menu she checked and realized it did in fact come with lobster. She offered to have the cook make it in the kitchen and bring it out. It would’ve been nice to see the lobster cooked in front of the table. I told her no that I had finished my meal and to discount the lobster. I was discounted $15 out I the $120 plus spent. Lobster was the highlight of my meal and the only reason I chose that meal. My meal should’ve been free and there should’ve been an apology. I received neither.
This was a great experience exactly what you would expect from a Hibachi restaurant...When we arrived we were immediately checked in and shown to the bar. The bartenders are phenomenal I ordered a Mojito best one I've had in a while. We waited about 15 minutes before we were seated upstairs. The waitress was polite, and always on time. She stayed ontop of drinks even while having a full room. The chef was great the food was tasty and the portions are a decent size.
Entertaining night. Good food. A bit pricey but a special Valentine's day dinner. Good time.
I have been to Benihana’s 3 times and I absolutely love it!!! Food is delicious and I love watching the cooks prepare my food!! Great date night or for older kids to watch them flip things in the air.
Listen, I understand that businesses need to make money, but this place is way too crowded. Do not go here on a Saturday if you want to hear yourself, get any kind of service (even with a reservation), or eat a nice meal with people. We had a reservation for 5:30pm and were seated at 7PM with strangers.
This Benihana is out of date compared to the others, but the service is excellent! The food is decent, but there are some occasions where the chefs under season. Although, this is dependent on which chef you get.
Great food but I personally was not full at the end of the my meal for the price I feel I should have been full with leftovers for the price I paid
Always a good time at Benihana’s! The food is amazing!
The food was good. I think chef could made it more entertaining especially for the children at the table. And group of people came in later and they seat at cooking table by us. The chef turn and talk to them couple times. I thought it was little for people he was servicing.
Benihana is always a great place to eat, although the noise level here is a lot louder than I would prefer. The reason is that the dining room is one big room squeezing in as many tabels and cooktops as possible... with no dividers or anything for noise management. A redesign of this place with fewer stations and some basic acoustical touches would go a long way in making this a more enjoyable experience.
Poor service
My daughter and I go to Benihana every year for our birthdays. The service was prompt and courteous. The food was delicious. I must say that it was the fastest cooking time we have experienced at Benihana.
It was great. Great service and great food!
We waited 45 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. There was no bar tender on staff to give people drinks whilst waiting around. The service from the chef and waitresses was great.
It was so loud in the space that I couldn’t even have a conversation with my wife OR hear the chef. Also, service was terrible: ran out of water several times, and she was not easy to find. Additionally, we waited about 20 minutes for our bill and then she actually lost some credit cards!
Great food-service-presentation. Terrific friendly employees. OUTSTANDING!
Our meals were very good. Very loud, could not have a conversation with my guests. Smelled terrible from all the food.
The place is very outdated. I was there for birthday with my son. The waiter was very rushed and confessed he was also helping with something that broke in the restaurant. I read all reviews about how outdated this place was but my son really wanted to go. If you want fried rice you pay and extra $4.50 per person - not worth it. Very expensive. It cost us over $100 for 3 people and that’s no drinks, just 2 kids (1 kids meal). Will not go back. Should update before DNC next summer. Embarrassing how dirty the stairway looks and how damp/musty it smells.
Please note: one star is being generous. A complete disappointment all around. To start, we had reservations at 6:30 for 4 guests. We walked in and were told to sit at an open table in the empty dining room downstairs until we were called. This was strange, there were about 6 other groups also waiting, there were confused looks all around. At 6:45 we finally got called to go upstairs. We were seated at a hibachi table that was not large enough for our group, and the other group that sat with us; two of us ended up on the side of a table with absolutely no room to eat! My husband had to pull his chair back from the table and eat over his lap to provide more room. At the beginning we were asked if anyone was celebrating anything, I let them know it was my friend's birthday the day prior, so we were celebrating. You think they would've acknowledged it somehow since they asked, nope. Didn't sing, didn't bring a dessert, didn't even say a simple "happy birthday". It gets worse...the waiter (if you can call him that) took drink orders, and when he arrived back with the sodas for the table they were all watered down and flat. Mind you, this was 3 different types of soda too. The chef was OK, although by the time our meat was cooked and served, our vegetables that had been sitting on our plate for 10 minutes were ice cold. Chef then started cleaning up the griddle and packing up his stuff, when I had to ask where our white rice was. Nobody at the table got rice! By the time the roce was brought out the entire meal was cold. And the taste, flavorless! Throughout the entire dining experience we had to track down our waiter for drink refills, the bill, and for him to take our payment. Such a shame that they automatically include 18% gratuity, it allows the staff to do an absolute crap job, while still knowing they're getting a decent tip. Never, ever again!
Went for Christmas dinner, was told to be prompt for our reservation time and still had to wait a half hour. Wanted sushi and couldn’t get that. The waitress kept getting drinks confused.
Terrible value for the amount and quality of food. Service was sloppy and disorganized. Costumers were wearing tee shirts and tennis shoes. Doors were not open on time. Food was okay...but not worth the price in any stretch of imagination. The chef did not know how to utensil dance, but just kept slapping the grill with his spatula. The waitress brought the rice half-way through the meal. The soda was flat. It felt like a "grown-up" Chuck E Cheese.
At the end of the "show", an older lady came by and collected our plates to move us on for the next guests.
Great Experience, will definitely be returning
The waiter was not good. He kept forgetting everything. We didn’t have drinks for 3/4 of the meal. The chef was really rushing us, and was not personable. Just overall, a bad experience. We have dined at Benihana every year for the past 10 years around this time for my husband’s birthday, and this was by far the worst experience we’ve had there.
The hostess was on a personal phone call, using foul language, while we waited for her to greet us. The food and atmosphere, while decent, were not worth the price we paid for it. The chef was nice and as entertaining as he could be, but the ‘performance’ left us feeling underwhelmed. We will try other steakhouses before ever returning to Benihana’s.
Service and ambiance was so bad compared to the money you pay here. The hibachi chef was routine and boring. Let’s be honest, the hibachi jokes are old and we have heard them all, but at least pretend they are funny. The chef kind of mumbled his routine and barely looked up. The server was so so. Attentive enough but the kind that picks up your check before you leave and checks how much the tip was. The food was good. No complaints there. But the other issue was the ambiance. The restaurant was well lit which showed the old ceiling tiles and tired tables and chairs. We won’t be back - it just lacked the experience we are looking for in a Japanese steakhouse.
My business colleague and I had a very enjoyable dinner at Benihana. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and professional, and the ambiance was cozy and fun.
Have not been to Benihana in a long time and the food taste and quility have gone down a lot.
We always have a great time and enjoy hibachi :) We will be back :)
Lunch for 8 coworkers. Excellent service and excellent food!!!
Took my 11 year old grandson for his birthday. He invited a friend along and my wife also joined us. Great time had by all. Kids loved the show. Chef did extra to entertain the kids. Will be back often since I’ve got three grandkids!
