   First we had to wait 40 min for the chef and then the cooking show was blah definitely you can tell he wasn't into it. My chicken was so overcooked I didn't eat it. For the price not worth it!!

   One of our worst dining experiences. We will not be returning to this establishment. We arrived on time for our 8:00 reservation, were seated right away, but our chef did not arrive to cook our food until 9:20. This was only after I spoke to the manager and asked for an explanation for the extremely long delay. I will definietly not be recommending this restaurant and in fact will encourage friends and family not to visit either.

   The experience was good. Got to learn what Downey Benihana was about. Not a typical Benihana, very laid back. Very Smokey. Very relaxed with the service. Everyone was very polite. Constantly had to ask for a server and they would forget items(sauces, soups, bowls for edamame skins. Random mandatory things. I would go to a different Benihana. Food and cook were fine.

    The cooktops had no ventilation. When you walked into the dining room, it was full of smoke. Our eyes were BURNING by the end of dinner!

    Stephany Ahmed, our server, was absolutely outstanding. We had a bit of an issue with our table not heating up enough to cook the food. It took the manager a long time to finally come and try to fix it after Stephany went out to alert him several times. Stephany made this visit very enjoyable and was able to keep us entertained while we got served. Thank you Stephany, with a “y” lol

    Came with my family for birthday celebration and the greater at the front door had an attitude from the jump she did. It want us waiting at the front . Food took to long to get prepared took about a hour. For the amount that was paid i expected better service . On the bright side chef was cool many thanks to him .

    First off, we had a reservation and still had to wait even thought there were tables everywhere. Then, glass went flying when staff dropped a cup of water. Glass flew in the air near our table. We then waited for 30 minutes for our chef to come after our waiter said the chef would be there in 7 minutes. Lastly, our chef wasn't as lively as they usually are. He didn't do tricks or anything. On a positive note, the food was delicious.

    The food, service and show were very good. However the ventilation was very poor maybe because the restaurant was very full. It just made all the room so very smoky. The restaurant could use new chairs. Many were cracked or opened in the upholstery or wobbly. With a few corrections it’s a great place for celebratory dinners and the chefs have great shows and make the food tasty.

    I made reservations at 7:15pm we didn’t get called in until after 7:30pm we waited for more than an hour for the chef to come to our table to serve our food. It was really ridiculous the amount of time they had us waiting. We finished our appetizers and my kids had like 4 drink refills each because they were so hungry. To pay $250 it really was not worth it.

    Unexpected charges, kitchen charges, fried rice charges, reservations was at 6:30 chef came out at 7:45pm to start cooking. Expect to be there 3- 4 hours.

    We made a reservation for 9pm and waited for 45 mins to be seated. Our orders were taking at 9:56pm and our chef never came out by this time it was 10:31pm and by 10:45pm my party and I left Benihanas. My teenage daughter later mentioned that the waitress said “Oh I honestly forgot about you guys”. I’ve been to Benihanas all over the place in different cities and states and I will say this was the most Horrible experience I’ve had.

    Our reservations were at 730 we sat down at the grill at 9 and waited still for the chef. The food was very salty and did not taste good. The waitress, was not friendly and I would ask her for sauces and she never brought them

    For a $100 meal the food was awful! Everything was so dry it was like eating sand!! The other tables where getting an engaged experience however our chef did the bare minimum and wasn’t engaging at all. Save your money and go anywhere else.

    Prices increase every time we are there, which is at least 1-2 times every 3-4 months.. one cut up chicken breast divided between 4 emperor feast dinners? Really? When chef was finishing up cooking for the table, WE HAD TO ASK FOR THE MUSHROOMS that are supposed to be INCLUDED IN THE MEALS? They were not even on the chefs cart, she had to go get them and then it was a very meager amount for 7 dinners? The chicken fried rice is the highest price it’s ever been and the way the chef now SPRINKLES THE RICE in the bowl instead of packing the bowl like it used to be done is laughable, like you think your customers are that stupid that we haven’t figured that out yet? All the guest at the table were joking about the “sprinkled rice” bowls after the chef left. Waitress was terrific! Chef was slow, not organized and too busy craning her neck at other things happening in the room as opposed to paying attention to her table. She was nice but meh.. she also had to go get more rice and more chicken for a guest order as she did not load her cart correctly in the beginning . value and attention to the details is totally lacking ..

    We came in to celebrate a graduation for an engineer and 2 mothers for Mother’s Day. We waited to be seated but understood since it’s a busy day. We sat down and waited 20-25 min to be greeted and the table next to us sat down 20 min after and got their drinks and appetizers before our whole table even received waters. Manager stepped in tried his best to alleviate situation but our whole table was beyond dissatisfied and disappointed and to be quite honest we all had long days we didn’t even bother making a big deal and we’re extremely patient throughout the whole process. We got drinks 30-35 min later and our food didn’t start even cooking easily until after 1 hour after we sat down. Longest dinner of my life and would have liked to see management offer a discount or free drinks or something. This is the first time coming to the Downey location maybe next time it would be better.

    Great service from Genesis. Ricky and most especially to Sebastian. Great food ! Took an hour though for the cook to start preparing our food. Smoke is so bad. It’s really affecting the eyes. You’re not able to stay long without tears. Need better ventilation. This is our second time here, and both times were the same experience. Overall, great food! 5-14-2023
