    I usually have a wonderful experience but this afternoon was one of the worse for the books. I’m not sure if the chef was new or he was just nervous but my dinner ended before it began. It started with the chef and ended with the chef. He attempted to do his tricks before he starts the show and as he was coming to an end he spun the one of his utensils and unfortunately it hit my glass and the entire glass spilled over and wet me entirely. I was so wet i couldn’t even get my food cooked for me. As i came home and attempted to charge my phone its telling me my charger port is wet. What a bummer. And to makes matters worse the Chef said he’s sorry and just went back to cooking. He didn’t attempt to help or assist in anything. I totally understand he has a job to do but my goodness you just wet up a customer the least you can do is assist. I believe the manger name is PAUL he did apologize and i called him to follow up about my wet device and he put me on hold for over 25 mins! I will follow up with corporate to discuss this horrible manner. Hope no one else have to experience something so terrible!

    The chef and food were amazing! The only thing that made our experience bad was our server. We had to tell the guy about six times where our water was and where our drink was, and we had to keep reminding him every time. This was the first time this happened to me and my family. Other times, I have had a 100% amazing experience and service.

    I had a reservation for 6pm and when I arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes before I was informed the restaurant was 2 hrs behind schedule and I would be seated at 8pm.

    DO NOT COME FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS Arrived for reservation which they called me days prior to confirm. Upon arrival, staff very casually let me know my reserved table would be ready in 2 hours. It’s Mother’s Day, I have the entire family and we are celebrating. We do not live 10 minutes away, and I reserved this over a month ago. Found our own table at 5pm on my own. Put the seating together to accommodate everyone. Food still not out at 6:40pm, asked them to just make it to go as kids are now falling asleep and asking for food because they are Sooo hungry. Special occasion, I wouldn’t choose Benihanas again, it was first time experience for most of my party of 8. The bill was delivered, no compensation offered, but they made sure to include the service fee for my party which was another $90. For a meal we did not even eat or enjoy at the restaurant. We had to plate and bag the food to go ourselves also. Not one person thought it would be a good idea to call other guests who had reservations to atleast give them the option prior to showing up. I was told they didn’t have someone scheduled to do that.

    We had a reservation at 1:00 on Mothers Day and we did not get seated until two hours later. They waited even further about 30 minutes later to have two other people sit down to fill our table. Then the waitress wrote the order wrong for our table . The chef cooking our food was so confused. Had to stop cooking leave twice to verify the order and bring necessary food to start cooking . This was the Downey location. A few months back, we tried a different location. Also did a reservation. When we got there, they said they were an hour behind so we decided to leave instead and go to another local restaurant. This was the city of industry location. Based on my experience, they overbook so I don’t see the purpose of getting a reservation for this restaurant.  this was the first time me and my family tried Benihana’s and unfortunately, it will be our last.

    I dined at this location for the first and last time on May 10, 2025. It was the worse experience ever. We waited almost 3-hours to be seated with a 7:00 pm reservation. They incrementally extended the wait time range without clear transparency of an actual wait time. The poor chef did their best but they were obviously exhausted. Our three meals were sub-standard and not the regular expected level of quality we’ve had in the past when dining at Benihana. We received no apology or compensation for the poor service. We were left very disappointed and will not be dining at this location again.

    After waiting 45 minutes past the reservation time we had the rudest most inattentive server and the most lackluster chef you can possibly imagine. Didn’t do any of the fun show experiences that you would expect from hibachi chef in two hours, she came around only one time to refill the water. 3 kids 2 adults. No drinks only ordering dry chicken and the cheapest steak option $250!
