From the stunning stone Cellar Door, to the rustic yet elegant Book Barn housing our restaurant and bookshop, we invite you to experience the beauty and first-class hospitality of Bendooley Estate.
I know it was a cold windy day, but the restaurant was very cold, just about everyone had their coats on, we asked for more heating to be put on!!! Had to ask 3 times for for our second bottle of wine, and when Petra returned with our wine, we said not to be too hard on the young waiter who took the order ( we think he was new) she we all through she was unprofessional in saying things about him, but she didn’t charge us for the second bottle, which was appreciated, this was my second visit here, at least the floor manger wasn’t as rude as the last time I was there, food is very good, I will try again, maybe in the summer
Pleasant meeting place for lunch with friends from Sydney, Canberra and the Illawarra.
We had a very noisy group sitting so close to us that we could hardly hear what those at our table were saying, which spoilt it a bit. Otherwise it's a lovely location and good food, plus the bonus of being able to browse the bookshelves.
Great food and great service however did not like being placed right next to the waiters table as I felt uncomfortable and like I was in the way
Overall food was good, but lunchtime menu was limited. Service staff were trying hard, but there weren’t enough of them. This is a management issue. Also, the room was very cold even though it was not a particularly cold day. The regulars obviously know to request the tables near the fireplace. Everyone else stayed in their coats and hats!
From start to finish everything was great. I had some friends come from Canberra and went to another restaurant the night before who told them that their friend would look out for them to wish them a happy birthday and she did. It was spectacular service and the food was delicious, I can't wait to come back and bring more people.
We had a lovely wine tasting at the Cellar Door with Gemma - she was friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines and Bendooley generally.
The food was amazing and the wine (Bendooly’s riesling and merlot) was exceptional. We were a group of 9 ladies and we were seated at the cellar door very close to the bar where wine tasting was happening.. so we had people and waitresses bumping into our chairs constantly.
Wish we were in the other section..
Food took forever to arrive and our waitress for some reason had a bit of an attitude the whole time..
Good value for money and lovely location
So all in all
I thought the food was amazing. The service was pretty poor, the staff were very casual in their manner which I wouldn't expect when you are paying a premium price. The venue is beautiful and very well maintained.
Very noisy and too many tables in the space . Waitress was bored and uninterested in us. I caught her roll her eyes at a fellow waitress when we accidentally thought we had ordered something different and politely question it . Would not recommend and would not go back. Food average
Lovely birthday experience with great food lovely staff and atmosphere although cold
Second visit and will definitely be back a great afternoon visit and worth the drive from the blue mountains
We were very disappointed with our Margarita Pizza. One side of the crust was badly burnt and the topping left a lot to be desired. There was very little tomato and other than cheese nothing else.
I was very surprised to see the owner or manager dust off prints from the walls with chux wipes which were used for making coffee and the dirt left on them was definately a health hazzard.
Fabulous casual lunch, attentive staff, great value, a winner
Mark our host was absolutely wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us!!! He showcased several wines & has outstanding service skills! The only complaint was it was COLD in there!!! The fire needs to be pumping & possibly rugs on floor or at least throw rugs for knees
I have been to Bendooley Estate several times and we always order a starter and a main , on this occasion we did the same but this time both starters and main meals were brought out at the same time.
We did consider questioning as to why and sending the main meals back but the food is so good we felt it was a shame to do so but we were and still are surprised as to why this occurred
Hi, Our lunch was very good except that it was a very cold day and we were near the door opening and closing. I should have asked for a table near the fire. However the staff kindly moved us to a table closer to the fire for our dessert and coffee. Food was fantastic and service was great too.
What an enjoyable experience. The food was perfectly prepared. It was a 50th Birthday and will always be remembered
2nd time and loved it!!
Gorgeous stylish upmarket country restaurant with city class food.
I highly recommend it
A lovely winter's lunch, and a beautiful place to visit.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary here as we had originally had our wedding at Bendooley. It was great to see that the level of service, quality of food and lovely ambience is as wonderful as ever. Thanks for a lovely experience yet again!
Great food and wine, pleasant staff and excellent ambiance. Have for some time recommended this location; and will continue to recommend Bendooley.
The food was great, and we loved the combo of the interiors, the books and dining. The prices were a little high, however, and it got busy very quickly (so best to go early). All in all, we will probably visit again.
Great food. Consistent.
Good wine and lovely service
Steak was outstanding and with the caramelised onion and salsa verde was sensational. My partner had some delicious goat shoulder and the parsnip and mushroom entre was tasty. Best meal un a long time. A surprisingly good experience with the wine tasting as well. We came home with lots more than we thought. Nice ambiance and design.
Loved it. Food was something very special although they were understaffed in the cellar door which also accommodates overflow diners from the restaurant.
Overall it was the perfect date lunch with my husband.
Booked a table for 5 on a Sunday afternoon. The booking process was very smooth and easy. When we arrived the wait staff were attentive and friendly. Great ambience as always and were lucky enough to get a table close to the fire. The only downside was the food took way too long to come. We were seated at 12.30pm and the food didn't arrive until 1.45pm. The same thing happened with our coffee order after the meal. It took a good 30mins for a cup of tea and 3 coffees to get to us. Could put it down to a busy Sunday lunch rush though.
Had a birthday lunch with the family here. It was beautiful! Great food, great wine
We absolutely love Bendooley. Only feedback for the day, was the fact that there was quite a lot of noise in the room. Probably due to the fact that there were multiple large party bookings.
The food was delicious but the service was very slow. Considering it was a Monday it wasn’t because it was crowded, but it may have been busier than they had staffed for. We ordered dessert and coffee. The coffee came, but no sign of the desserts. Eventually had to chase up a waiter who seemed surprised that we were still waiting. Desserts ultimately came and we were not charged for them. On the plus side, it was a glorious spot to sit in the sunshine on a winters day and enjoy delicious food.
I love bendooley! I had my wedding reception at bendooley. Something I thought could change was having the reception desk right next to where there is a table. My husband and I sat there and it was awkward to have someone speaking very loudly on the phone next to where you are trying to enjoy your meal. In saying that, the food, atmosphere and service as incredible! I always recommend Bendooley to everyone :)
Very nice food, however the service let it down. Atmosphere was nice.
Lovely atmosphere. Fantastic to be surrounded by books. Excellent food and service.
The lunch was enjoyable and the atmosphere was amazing. The food was not highly rated as my friend’s meal/meat was not medium to well done and my lamb burger was cold when it was served.
What a perfect spot for friends to meet for lunch, coming from Canberra and Sydney. The restaurant is cheerfully snd competently staffed, and the food is excellent!
We especially appreciated being able to chat easily, with no hint of feeling rushed or wearing out our welcome.
We were seated in Cellar and looked after exceptionally well. Delicious food, wonderful staff and lovely and warm. Thank you once again Bendooley for a beautiful lunch
Great afternoon wine tasting and and excellent lunch, place was busy as but staff where excellent with fantastic service. Can recommend and will have lunch again soon.
Wonderful food, and the in-restaurant bookshop was lovely to browse afterwards. More than what I would normally spend on lunch for two, but I knew it would be, and you certainly get what you pay for there - outstanding.
Great atmosphere amongst the books, though next time would book earlier to have views by the window to the lovely Estate.
Perfect getaway for a couple wanting to escape the rat race of Sydney!
Not in the winter, as it is too, too cold. Alright it is a 'barn', but perhaps even floor covering would help. Also, keep the pizzas, but time to change the rest of the menu.
