Had lunch here
The place was very busy and understand why the food was very good and lunch is a bargain
Definitely will return
Worst dal makhani I’ve ever had
To not order the Crab Chettinadu appetizer would be a great shame. I've eaten here many, many times. Always delicious.
Very nice meal at Benares. The atmosphere was quite and semi dark. The service was attentive and responsive. The menu was diverse and offered many choices. The food preparation was excellent and the portions were generous. I don’t normally dine on Indian food, but this restaurant fit the bill nicely. The food was tasty and not overly spicy. I’d go back again.
Don’t judge the restaurant from the outside. Lunchtime set meal is excellent value but we decided to go a la carte. Food was freshly prepared. Waiter was very attentive but not too pushy. Trying to find a decent curry house in NYC has been difficult but Benares ticks all the boxes. It’s no relation to Benares in London, UK so try not to compare.
On the whole this was an excellent meal.
Went for lunch with a large group, enjoyed my meal. There was no wait time to be seated, the waiter was very helpful with the menu and suggestions, and most important the food was good.
Love this place!!!
First, to say the customer service was very very attentive and that is what gives a 5 star dining experience besides the presentation and tastes of the food. Our server for our large party of 9, was very courteous and polite while taking orders and bring out the food. All the waiters were very nice and careful with our orders. They also knew the menu well for many of the dishes were unfamiliar to the English tongue (hence the Indian cuisine) and they knew exactly how to pinpoint what was familiar to us. I tried many different dishes and weren't disappointed by any. Of course you knew tasting the Indian cuisine your mouth will be infused with a number of different spices (for flavor and SPICE). They weren't overbearing but delicious! The waiters also knew they were on standby with water. This experience was an amazing one and I will definitely recommend to friends and of course I will be dining here again in the future.
Great food and service. Does t get better than this
Everything was delicious!-Kashmiri Tikki, Kashmiri Soup, Baingan Mirch Ka Salan, & Gulab Jamun. :)
Great food and service. Neighborhood gem.
The food was so tasty, and served with a smile. Our server was beautiful, charming and friendly. Will definitely be going back !
Great staff, exquisite food choices, loved everything I ordered. Definitely will return and recommend to all my friends.
The space is lovely and, unusually in TriBeCa, the noise level is very moderate. We sat at a booth with two large groups in the restaurant and we barely heard them. Portions were large and the food was vibrant and spicy. Menu contains items far beyond the usual dishes found at a typical Northern Indian restaurant.
Amazing food. We had the chicken shahi korma and paneer makhani, both were amazing!
Went there as it's our go- to Indian restaurant, tho there are several others a lot closer to where we live. Sharing a lunch special + 2 pieces of poori was more than sufficient for 2 of us + we were surprised by the yummy rice pudding the waiter brought over at the end of lunch.
The maitre d' greeted us like old friends and made us feel very comfortable throughout . I used my $20 Open Table dining reward certificate too, so that made the dining experience even better! Can't wait to return. m.b.
Booked online only to find restaurant. Closed on arrival at booked time. Disaster with no apologies!!!!!!
Benares - Tribeca is a lovely Indian restaurant with authentic dishes and a really wonderful staff. I went there to celebrate Diwali and was not disappointed! Can't wait to go back.
Very nice atmosphere, good food, good service. Great value for money. I hosted a 15 person business lunch there and they handled the table and orders very well. The Tandoori Platter was delicious too.
I was disappointed with the food, my friend and I both ordered the mixed Tandoori grill. The lamb was cold and so dry it was almost inedible. To the restaurant's credit they brought us new lamb that was moist and warm but still very tough. The chicken and shrimp were over-cooked as well. There was a large table of 16+ so perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed. Service was attentive but don't think I'll be running back.
The best tasting Indian food as of yet! Taste and innovative options take 5 stars! Crap appetizer - a must have!
After being seated, service was excellent! A perfect combination of timely, professional and courteous.
Improvements suggested: Upon entering, a host should be available for seating. Didn't receive acknowledgement/smile/courtesy from staff at the bar. Heard noise of trays/similar items dropped quiet a few times.
Nice waitstaff. Enough food for 3+ lunches. Quiet.
It was fantastic food. Had a great time and could talk with my work colleague as it wasn't noisy.
Mediocre Indian food. The Paneer in the Shahi Paneer was not soft enough and the dal wasn't very flavourful
The food was excellent, the service was OK .Good value for money. However the bill was wrong: always check!
Very good and cheap vegetarian food. Good value for money.
Excellent Indian food; friendly staff. I've eaten here a lot and this restaurant changed my opinion on Indian prepared seafood.
Food was incredibly average..
Service needs improvement, order incorrect, some food not delivered to table without prompting, staff seem disinterested. The food itself is good, but the service inspires me to dine elsewhere.
This place has some real spice! A lot of Indian food is prepared with less spice to accommodate the American palate, but not this. My dish as well as my friends' dishes were all really spicy and delicious. Highly recommend.
Food and service was amazing. Will definitely be back again!
Rushed out - Benares Tribeca has been one of ny favorite lunch spots for years. I guess it may continue to be since the food and the service is great. My major disappointment on this visit, a business lunch, was that we were rushed out after about 45 minutes because the restaurant needed our table to accommodate a throng of guests. Now I made a reservation, had just finished our entrees, and was in the midst of a business conversation when the owner asked if we could please leave because he had a number of large groups arriving. Although he was apologetic,it did spoil the business conversation and proved to be a embarrassing because I was the one who suggested that we lunch at Benares. If I choose to return, i suppose next time I'll ask if we'll be alllowed to stay for longer than an hour.
Great place and very accommodating to your tastes. Waiters very knowledgeable about the food and have great suggestions. Had a lunch prix fix.
Always great service and fantastic food
Great service and friendly staff. Food was very good if you like Indian fare.
Awesome Samosa! Very authentic Indian. Love the Mutter Paneer (in face all their Paneer dish's are great) Saag is not oily like so many places. Crisp naan. Waiter brough raita when asked. Eaten here many times and keep on coming back for the food and for the service - both excellent!
They kicked us out at 10:30 p.m. Very unprofessional for NYC, especially downtown.
It was my daughters 1st communion I we were a group of 13 plus a two year old. The staff could not have been more attentive and the food was delicious, authentic & plentiful. Highly recommend!
It was a nice lunch. Menu had good variety to select from. Thanks
