Fantastic dinner date with husband before U2 concert at United Center. Valet offered to keep car until after concert which was a cost savings and provided a refreshing about five block walk to venue (big crowd walking back in same direction after concert). Host anticipated people going to concert and directed people quickly with utmost care and friendliness. Sat in bar for happy hour and stayed in comfy chairs for dinner. Don’t miss the sticky chicken wings and dumplings! Bartenders evening choice of beverage was a blood orange negroni...instant relaxation and refreshment. Tea Smoked Duck Bolo Noodle dish was on the small side but the sauce was exciting. Definitely revisit worthy.
a favorite of ours, great service while eating at the bar, and tonight extra special as Chef Bill Kim came out and talked to us, and even made us a special desert!
Bill Kim is a great chef and great host
The food was pretty good but not as great as we expected. We ordered several different dishes. Some were great and others were just ok. Portions were a little too small. Service was great. Will try again.
Awesome experience! Fried rice was the best. The rest was meh. But our server was top notch and so was the sake!
I was looking forward to another night at BellyQ since I haven't been in about 2 years. The food was just as great as I remember, however the pacing was off. We ordered a rice dish that came ~20 minutes after every other dish and we were full by that time.
It was a bit more noisy then I remember, and at times we didn't see our waitress (she must have been tied up with the big derby party)
Great dinner with an old friend. Definitely go back
There isn't anything that we don't LOVE about BellyQ and Urban Belly. The chef is outstanding creating a fusion of culture. The ambiance is perfect for any occasion and the staff is exceptional. We particularly loved meeting the Catering Director, Loren Hall. She has an incredible spirit and is so welcoming. She gave us many ideas of what to order and every one of her suggestions were outstanding.
Birthday and celebrating friends visiting from out of town
Great meal! Loved all the meat and seafood we got to grill! Everything was awesome :)
Food was ok. Restaurant had an ant problem. Won't be going back
Staff treated us very well, excellent double grill table!
One of my favorites places to dine, they switched up the menu alittle. I thrown off at, but i tried eveything new and of course another HOMERUN.......its always a pleasure to dine at BellyQ
Server was energetic and personable. The food was flavorful. Ambiance good.
Underwhelming experience at BellyQ. None of the dishes were impressive or flavorful. I went for all of the populr items like the short ribs, and wasn’t really excited about any of them.
No way enough food for the price when cooking at the table. Terrible value.
We were visiting from out of town, but I would be a regular if I could! I loved everything!
Food was great. Drinks were great. Service was excellent. Only reason it was not 5 stars was we thought it was rather pricey for the amount of food you get.
Great food. Fun atmosphere. Very loud but didn’t deter from experience
Over-priced for mediocre food. Flavors were ok. Very cool atmosphere and unique drinks.
We really enjoyed our time at belly Q-- the food was creatively and carefully prepared, and the presentations were all very attractive. The food was delicious, too!
There were many good choices and a good variety of dishes. This place is great for sharing small plates. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and she provided good guidance. Overall, a very fun experience~
My wife and I came here for a date night without the kids. It was a trendy, delicious options with modern tastes for Asian BBQ. I tried the lemonade with tasting vinegar, and had the BBQ sampler "Boss" that the waitress recommended. It was delicious, and I was happy with the pricing as compared to other downtown restaurants. My wife and I had sufficient food by sharing an appetizer, wild rice order, BBQ sampler, and a non-alcoholic drink. We got away under $65.
What a pleasure. Knowledgeable server who did not urge over-ordering. Food was preprepared, so insignificant wait to be served so the food is served at room temperature. Food perfectly seasoned, low prices, noise level tolerable, portion size of the small plates perfect for two. Be careful about seating, however, as seating at bbq tables too deep for short people. Bench style communal seating at Urbanbelly (part of one giant seating space) section not good for people who want privacy or need back support, but get ramen bowls off separate menu. Original preparations will encourage experimentation & return visits.
We enjoyed the creative Korean-inspired dishes at BellyQ. The scallion pancakes, spring rolls, fried chicken, and papaya salad were outstanding. And so were the two entrees we tried, the short ribs and the duck breast. We also tried the Belly Mac, which I didn't particularly enjoy, but I am not a fan of Mac & cheese anyway, even if an unusual one like this one. Will definitely be back!
Loved the eggplant hummus.
Love this place!
This was my first time at BellyQ and it won't be my last! The food was exceptional but what really made the experience worth it was the top-notch service. Our server and the assistant manager checked in frequently and elevated the experience for me.
We had such a great experience at bellyQ! We did one of the grill tables and not only was the food outstanding, but a lot of fun. Our server Paul was the best!
Menu is imaginative, with interesting twists on familiar Asian fair like savory scallion pancakes designed to for solo eating or sharing. The Peanut Noodle Salad, Blackened Shrimp Curry and Roasted Pork Butt were outstanding and the donuts were amazing. Service was also outstanding. For folks our age, the place was a little noisy but, all in all, a great experience. We'll be back.
Me and two friends visited BellyQ, the food was fantastic. I got the Blackened Shrimp Curry and Coconut Grits, both were delicious and super satisfying and decently price for the quantity and quality of the plates. Our server was outstanding, really attentive and helpful.
The restaurant itself is lovely and dimly-lit, so it would be great for a more intimate dinner. The only underwhelming aspect, however, was the drinks. I got Thor Gets His Black Belt, which featured a drinking vinegar, but the flavors were muted, and the ice to drink ratio was not great.
Overall, BellyQ is a great spot, I'd definitely revisit!
Great place. Really enjoyed the cocktails and the range of the menu. Particularly liked the lamb buns and the spring rolls.
Size of the check was a pleasant surprise too.
Compared to other more well known places just up the road, we felt this was much less crowded and we weren’t rushed at all.
Will definitely be back.
Food was superb and they are very good at addressing any dietary/allergy issues. Great food and drinks before heading to concert at UC!
Food is good, no doubt about it....but, it is overpriced for quality and quantity. Generally speaking, it is easily 10- 15% more expensive than it should be or what you find in non-'fusion' restaurants. The real bargain is the Vietnamese donuts - 3 hot donuts with blueberry sauce (they could use more sauce) $6. They have an interesting liqueur/apertif menu that includes such rarities in the US as Aperol and Cynar, and the first restaurant that I've seen in many years that features green AND yellow Chartreus (at $15). And, the place looks great - it has real eye appeal, but for those of us who don't carry around our own seat cushions, those flat metal chairs/stools are probably the most uncomfortable seats your body will ever find in Chicago. My take? It's worth one trip, but they need to make some changes to entice me for a repeat visit.
Belly Q has had good reviews over the past several months and I wanted to give it a try. It was trendy, somewhat creative and an interesting experience. My biggest complaint was that they pour a "Short" drink but did not over charge for it. I would rather had a decent size drink and be charged for it accordingly.
Did the grill table - all the proteins lacked flavor and the bib lettuce wraps were small and torn, making it hard to assemble and eat the food.
Very good meal . Our waitress and the servers were very kind and made us feel like we were welcomed
We ate at the bar and had an outstanding evening.
Excellent Korean Food. The Kale salad and fried chicken were yummy. And of course the short ribs. A great date night for Valentines Day.
Not sure how this restaurant has such high ratings. Ordered the Korean Fried Chicken (basically 4 Buffalo Wild Wings boneless nuggets), the Scallion Pancake (cold/bland and the sides accompanying it brought nothing to enhance the pancake), Sauce Boss (Meat was all over seasoned, chicken wings were inedible, ribs tips were okay, all over a bunch of mediocre fries... not worth $20 or whatever is cost), Blackened Shrimp Curry (flavor alright but nothing special at all). Overall I was very disappointed with the food. The service/ambiance/drinks were good but I cant get over paying $100 for dinner for 2 at this place.
Everything was delicious! The blackened shrimp and vegetable main course was amazing.
