BellyQ Ratings and Reviews
We ate here before a concert at the United Center. When we arrived we sat at the bar for a few cocktails before our reservation. The bartender was awesome! He explained the drink and food menu and was super helpful. He also gave us complimentary shots that were out of this world yummy! When we got to our table, the waitress was so nice and helpful, explained the best options and we're glad we took her advice because the food was so good. She even went next door to a coffee shop to get my husband a Vietnamese hot coffee to go with dessert. Amazing experience!
This is my second time at Belly Q. The staff is great but the food isn’t my favorite. The banchan isn’t very good, particularly the kimchee which tastes as if they slipped some kimchi paste on napa cabbage about 29 minutes before dinner service started. For $49 per person, the servings are rather modest as well.
Went for New Year's Eve dinner and had the excellent prix fixe menu for New Year's Eve. It was an excellent value with a whiskey toast, beef broth, two appetizers for the table; a fried rice, two entrees and a specialty entree. At the end is a sparkling sake toast and fried dough with cinnamon sugar. It was fantastic. Would definitely go back.
A party of three a day before New YeariEve; we were very disappointed with the service. We asked for a specific table, which was given to us but a bit reluctantly. When it came to ordering, One of us wanted to have the Grill, only to be told that ALL of us had to order the Grill, a piece of information we should have been given at the outset when we received the menus. My guest had to read the entire menu in a rush to change his selection. The waitress also seemed to be in a rush throughout our dinner; we wanted to enjoy our dinner and felt pressured all the time. As soon as one of us finished his meal, she would take the plate away; she did that for each of us and brought the dessert menu while the third guest was still eating his main course. I understand a waiter can be tired and in a hurry to go home at the end of the day but they need to realize guests are here to enjoy the food and each other’s company, and feeling rushed is not a good feeling. In spite of these faux pas, and in the spirit of new year I left a 20% tip, which I didn’t have to do. We were only a small party of three and didn’t feel particularly well treated or welcome; the waitress took the check and left without saying thank you or goodbye; we showed ourselves to the door. The food was good but the experience was completely ruined by the service. The restaurant manager or owner should look into this because this can really affect the business. We won’t come back or recommend it to friends.
Great night at BellyQ. I enjoyed the food and ambiance. I only drink white wine and they only had one choice for me - a Gruner Veltliner on tap (made it very fizzy and I do not like fizzy wine). My overall stars would have been more if I had a choice of drink, after all drinking is a major part of your experience at a restaurant and to have such a limited wine menu is not a good thing these days especially as nearly everyone drinks wine.
Great place for a small to medium sized group. We did a tasting menu for 5 and were able to pick different appetizers, entrees, and other items for the table. Served plenty of food for the entire group and had quite the variety on this menu. Very good Japanese whiskey on the menu as well.
Meet friends for dinner and had a great time starting with the awesome drinks at the bar. Very unique cocktails. Hostess never rushed us to get to our table but when we did the wait staff was unbelievable. Explained every dish we asked about as if they created it themselves. Very attentive. Foods is beyond delicious. Desserts are a must try.... words cannot describe how deliciously decadent the donuts are. Can’t wait to go back again.
The "manhatten" from the specialty drink menu was great. We ordered the scallion pancake appetizer. I thought the three spreads were on the small side. The Korean short ribs were really tasty and melted in my mouth. The duck had good flavor, but if you like crispy duck skin, this is not the dish for you. Eric, our server, was spot on. He was never too far away to ask if we needed anything, but not too close to suffocate us. Overall, dinner and service was great! I will be back!
Food was great but service was extremely slow. We waited 35 minutes for two bowls of food. We were in a hurry and had someone waiting on us elsewhere so we asked how long it would be, got a quick answer of "a moment" and he walked away immediately. Didn't get it until 15 min after that exchange.
The grill table was terrible and a total rip off. I am so disappointed Ate here in the past and loved it. So much so that we took out of town guests here. Such a huge mistake. Service was terrible. The food was just so so. I was embarrassed to have chosen it. Our bill was $400 for 4 people and it was one of the worst meals in recent memory.
The food was excellent. Very slow service was a disappointment. From our cocktail order to dinner entrees, we felt neglected. We nearly lost our appetites waiting for the main course. It was not even busy that night (most of the restaurant was empty), so that's not an excuse.
Ate here with a group of friends before a Blackhawks game. Appetizers in the bar (dumplings, sticky wings) were great, and they had an impressive selection of craft brews and cocktail specials. Main courses (Korean ribs, shrimp hummus, smoked duck breast) were very good and great to pass around. Servers were knowledgeable and very engaging.
