Beautiful Setting, Disappointing Brunch (with One Sweet Exception) We recently had brunch at Bellpine at the Ritz Carlton and were genuinely excited to try it, given the setting and reputation. While the ambiance and service were excellent, the food, unfortunately, was a letdown. I ordered the Dungeness Crab Sandwich, which sounded promising but lacked flavor and any sort of thoughtful presentation. My husband had the Chicken & Waffle—his fried chicken was overcooked, almost burnt, and the chicken sausages on the side were dry, as if they had been sitting out for hours. The saving grace of the meal was the goat milk cheesecake for dessert—absolutely delicious, beautifully done, and the only dish that lived up to the restaurant’s upscale vibe. At this price point and location, I expected a more polished and memorable dining experience. I hope this was just an off day, but sadly, the food didn’t meet the standard you’d expect from a place like this

I didn’t love the style of the food and presentation. Overall it didn’t really all tie together for me. As with most fine dining with a talented chef, outside of knowing 2 of 5 ingredients in each dish, it is always a mystery on what I just ordered and how the chef puts it all together. There was an overpowering vinegary flavor in 1 or 2 dishes that carried into all other tastings. I even kept tasting that flavor hours after dinner and even the next day. While I liked the flavor the first time with the dish is went with, I started to despise this taste each time it appeared again. Like onions, only worse. All the dishes we tried were decent. But none that I’ll ever crave again. We also had the somores desert. It was good. I had the espresso martini and it was delicious, but the garnishment they put on the drink was obnoxious and pointless. It was a rice air cracker that was trying to resemble a cloud. They said the cloud was edible, and it was…but it was not anything anyone would want to eat.

Best. Food. Ever (get the crab berliners, you won't regret it) Best service ever. Best atmosphere ever. Greeted by a hospitality focused host - the feeling of this establishment is a refreshing mix of modern luxury and warm friendship. I brought my best friend for her birthday and we both agreed, you actually feel safe in this place - every detail is intentional and devoted - it somehow feels like home. Served by the kindest, most genuine, and thoughtful servers. Balanced between "welcome back old friend" and "fine dining" vibes. Come with an open mind and gratitude for the finer things in life. Special Thank You to Jimena, Laney, Nichole, Danny and Amanda. Mahalo Always!

I found that in some fancy restaurants, elaborate, over-the-top menu item descriptions sound better than they taste. Not the case at Bellpine. Everything is so well executed and the service is top notch. One of my favorites is the albacore and Wagyu beef tartare in bone marrow. And there are so many more dishes I saw other people eating that I have to try. And you can’t beat the view of the city from the top of the Ritz-Carlton!
