A 30-seat full bar and lounge add to the convivial environment, where guests can enjoy live music, an all-Spanish wine list, sherry on tap, dry cider, and Spain’s cocktail of choice, gintonic.
The airy, urban Mediterranean interior features California bay laurel tabletops, custom Costa Brava Blue-colored leather chairs and booths, Moorish light pendants and brass table-lamps, a private dining room for parties and events, and seating around the open kitchen with a custom hearth, the heart and soul of Bellota.
What Insiders Are Saying
Some of the best Spanish food in town is at Bellota, at the bottom of the Airbnb building in Soma.
Belotta is everything you ho
I wish they had smaller size Paella so that we can try a little more number of tapas.
The food sounded promising but the items delivered were unexceptional. Service was pleasant enough but nothing to write home about. I don't plan to go back.
Excellent service with a friendly staff. The tapas were delicious and a perfect balance of flavors and presentation. The ambient noise was a bit loud because we had a large party of next us. But our waiter made up for it being attentive and knowledgeable.
As usual, it was way too noisy although we sat away from the live music side. We come a few times a year. Food last Fri seems to have gone down a bit. For example, the $30 jamon appetizer was tiny (as usual and expected) but the meat were broke little pieces. Also, the paella was very wet as if it got taken out of the oven too soon??
The paella did not measure up to the reviews we have read. Perhaps Monday is the chef's day off.
I had high hopes. It took 45 minutes before anyone took our order after being seated and no one acknowledged that. This place is over hyped. At this price point you expect excellent service and excellent food. We received terrible service and decent food.
Great experience. Fantastic, warm, friendly and knowledgeable service. Excellent food - great quality, nice presentation. Good wine list. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and look forward to going back! Dishes are perfect for sharing with friends...allows you to try many things on the menu.
The food isn’t authentic Spanish but more South American Spanish fusion in taste (I was with a Spanish friend.) Paella was a bit bland and didn’t have enough meat/seafood as one would find in Spain. Atmosphere was pretty good.
Great food and atmosphere! The bar is very slow, takes 20+ to get a drink. Our food actually came BEFORE our drinks did! It was not a busy night, so it should have been much faster. After dinner went to to bar for s drink and it was same 20 min wait... when i asked the tall bearded 🧔 bartenter how much longer on drinks? He gave me blank stare and said “ we are busy” lol,it was not. We ordered simple bottled beers. Improve your bar service!
Excellent food and service. Haven’t had better Spanish food in SF.
It was a very pleasant surprise....the ambiance especially...reminded me of a big Chicago restaurant that was totally alive with diners and very engaged employees. The drinks were very much a big factor in the atmosphere...very original recipes and interesting combinations of ingredients. The menu was not huge but enough to satisfy almost anyone, especially if you looked at the photos of the items offered on line. We had the gambas and the paella that was divided into half seafood and half pork. Both were so tasty and flavorful. We were quite happy with our selections. Two glasses of sangria topped it off. Their sangria was not just fruit juice with some red wine added, but a whole host of unusual ingredients and the glass was large and full. Nice.
Lose the piano player!
Excellent tapas, good variety of choices, well prepared. Good service, we ate in the bar with live music.
Food is fantastic but a tad pricey for tapas.
Great atmosphere. The food is delicious. A live band was playing when we were there
Cute place and delicious food.
One my favorite places. Great food, atmosphere. I highly recommend it.
Some dishes were great, but the very expensive steak wasn’t particularly flavorful - it was asked for as medium rare but came medium to medium well. The patatas bravas weren’t what they used to be. Cocktails weren’t up to the standard of similarly priced restaurants in SF.
Had a wonderful dining experience and Gerry (Gerald) was a fantastic server. The chicken meatballs are a must!
Go for the tapas and the gin and tonics
Foo was fair service terrible. I only went there because it was handy I would ‘t go again
We have been to Bellota many times, however this time we felt ignored by our waiter. Many times he would walk by while we were waiting to order or move to the next phase of our meal. As always the food was outstanding, but the service disappointing.
The service was horrible (middle eastern guy) who had no time for my table of 2. So much so that he ignored wine order until finally asking Somm to come over for help with bottle.
The food is extremely overpriced (yes! Even for SF). The pulpit had 3 thin pieces, although portion was crazy for $24 they were so over done I bit into half and didn’t bother.
The standout was the ribs.
Had a great time at the bar for dinner. David provided top notch service and cocktails. Whole fish was great with a tasting flight. Churros rocked. Will be back!
Lovely ambience, great food, stellar service and all at a great price! Absolutely recommend Bellota.
So many good dishes to share. Best to go with group of 6 or more
Noisiest restaurant ever. Couldn't hear across the table.
The ambience and food was great.
The food was flavorless and horrible. The chorizo was not good. We ordered a bunch of different items to taste and not one I liked. Very disappointing.
Tracy the manager, surpasses her customer service. Overall it’s a great place to dine. I love it. Planning on returning real soon.
Fun and delicious!
Food was tasty and in larger portions than usual for tapas so don’t order too many dishes! We were stuffed when we left! Loved the roaming olive & cheese cart and the creative cocktails. Will definitely be back...
Traditional Spanish food - not innovative, nothing that will blow your mind, but certainly flavorful and thoughtful dishes presented by polished and knowledgeable staff in a vibrant setting.
Hands down great in every way staff could bot gave vern friendlier and nore attentive & welcoming
We will be back
San Fran is expensive but this was a $200 meal for two people. 2 veggie tapas, 1 lechon paella, and 1 bottle of wine. Great service and friendly staff - outrageously expensive.
Superb Spanish cuisine and craft cocktails. Real care is put into every dish and drink. The falafel, pulpo, and ham are all to die for but the stars of this night were the wood-fired t-bone with chimichurri and bone marrow hollandaise and the sangria cheesecake. Everything we tasted was perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious.
I would highly recommend the lamb dish and all of the tapas.
Fabulous! Great food, service. Tapas were amazing. Paella was the best we've had. Highly recommended!
