Located in a landmark building in SoMa, Bellota is a vibrant Spanish restaurant with an expansive take on the cuisines of Spain. Executive Chef Ryan McIlwraith brings his critically acclaimed approach to Spanish dishes, including a diverse menu of meats grilled on a wood-fired hearth, inventive paellas, Old World stews, fresh seafood, medium-sized tapas, imported charcuterie and cheeses, as well as slow-roasted vegetable dishes.
A 30-seat full bar and lounge add to the convivial environment, where guests can enjoy live music, an all-Spanish wine list, sherry on tap, dry cider, and Spain’s cocktail of choice, gintonic.
Really great quality food, loved the prawn and octopus. Plates are decent size, but will need 5-7 if you don't order an entree (we didn't)
The best Bellota in SF, an incredible selection of wines, an awesome Chef and amazing service. You can’t go wrong!
I came for my birthday and was impressed by the ambiance, service, food, and wine. Would 100% come back again!
A Must Go, incredible! Raphael you are awesome as always.
The food was great and the service was outstanding. When the chef found out that it was our anniversary, he brought us a special dessert. It was very touching and happened to be the lightest cheesecake ever.
We’ll be back. Fun vibe, great service, tasty tapas.
Sublime. The service, the food, the ambience. I had the patatas bravas (a perfect balance of crisp exterior and fluffy interior), the polpo (deliciously smoky), and the gambas ( unbelievably tender and succulent). A wide range of gins and types of tonic water, clearly described so that you can make some thoughtful and adventurously interesting pairings. The restaurant itself is both comfortable and lively, and the service is first rate. I can't wait to go back!
Lamb dish was phenomenal. Some of the appetizers/tapas were not as awesome as I would have wanted.
Excellent food, great service, pleasant decoration and comfortable seating.
Loved it! Food was delicious, great wine menu, fun vibrant atmosphere. Look forward to going back!
It is a great place if you want to try something new. The ambiance is very lively and sophisticated.
The live band is a great addition and the staff was so attentive.
We arrived slightly earlier than our reservation, but were seated immediately.
Everything was great in terms of food and drink. The paella is pretty good quantity for probably 3-4 people and the gin is great !Would love to come back again.
What a fantastic place! We went for our work team dinner on Saturday night, showed up early and they were still able to accommodate us quickly. Service was impeccable. Amazing wine recommendations and the waiters were super helpful in explaining menu items, sizes, and making suggestions based on our group. We were never rushed or overwhelmed with so much food on the table, despite ordering a ton. There was always room to share and shift things around. We also couldn't keep a used plate on our table for more than a minute, and our water was always filled before asking. They were like houdini-- I would think about asking and the next I looked, it was done! As for the food, probably some of the best Brussels Sprouts I've ever had! The "pan" bread and charcutieria are a must! It was my first time trying octopus and I loved it! We also ordered the two split pans of paella so we got to try them all. There was more than enough for the 6 of us and we even took some to-go.. I can't wait for my next visit to SF so I can go back! Truly, a wonderful experience. Thank you!
Food was decent but very overpriced.
I always enjoy Bellota! I have never been disappointed by the food or service and I've been a customer since they opened. I recommend it for lunch and dinner. Great vibe and ambiance.
5 stars for food, drink and ambiance. Loved the live music! Great for a date night and happy hour/dinner with larger groups.
Fantastic service and food! Will be returning in the future.
Could not hear each other talk
Sommelier a bit arrogant
Sat at the bar facing the Paella stoves. Food good as always. Service can slow down just a bit when peak times come and customers start coming in all at once but not too much of a big deal. Great experience all around and highly recommend. Too bad Barcino closed down though but Bellota is better.
The staff is awesome and the food is delicious. The Cubano is a 10.
It’s really nice when you welcomed and remembered.
My dad’s 60th birthday was amazing thanks to the amazing kitchen and staff at bellota. Made us feel so special and had the best time. Will be talking about this night for years and years
Another great meal at Bellota!
PAELLA to die for <3 although menu selections were not that many, the paellas are a must!
Cocktails are fun, food is delicious, but noise level for dinner was too loud. Really hard to have a conversation. Enjoyed our experience overall.
Wonderful waiter and great food.
I went to Bellota with my team and it was absolutely a fantastic experience. The noise level is energetic, but you can still have a conversation where everyone can be heard. There was also live music that added a lot to the ambience. Oh, and then there was the FOOD! It was so spectacular. Everything single thing on the menu was so incredibly delicious - steak, paella, charcuterie, brussel sprouts, just so delicious. I can't wait to come back.
Service was excellent.
Wonderful as always
Definitely one of my top ten favorites in San Francisco, hands down. The Black Squid Ink Paella is by far the best Paella I’ve ever had. And the service is always a pleasure.
Tapas and ribeye steak were very good and cocktails were creative.
Food was meh
Great service and delicious food!
fantastic sangria for us as it was my nieces first meal in San Francisco! lovely potatoes and sandwiches - very happy lunchtime!
Waiter got my drink order wrong all 4 times
Bellota has a decent atmosphere and could be a fun place to grab a drink with a friend. I felt that the hostess was rude but the waiter/server was quite nice and responsive so he made up for it. However, the food is a terrible value. They served what was probably the worst paella I've ever had. The rice was mushy and had no texture. Some of the appetizers were decent but because the portions of the main dishes were so small (and not very good) I would rate the food on the low end.
Delicious paella. Too loud to have a productive business conversation.
The Restaurant Week lunch menu is absolutely wonderful and not to be missed. Chef Robert outshines, once again.
a fun evening with great food, the best service. we shall be back
I had indicated on my reservations that it was for a birthday and none of the staff at Bellota acknowledged the occasion.
Went there for SF Restaurant Week 2020 and had their 2 course lunch menu. It was a great introduction of what they serve and it made me want to go back and experience the regular menu.
