What Insiders Are Saying
Some of the best Spanish food in town is at Bellota, at the bottom of the Airbnb building in Soma.
Great service. Wonderful food.
Great restaurant with a fun, hip vibe. Our server Kim was fantastic as was the Somellier, super cool gal with amazing wine selections. We had a fantastic dinner and will definitely return!
Bellota is my favorite restaurant in SF. The food is spectacular (even if the paella is ordinary). The tapas are exceptional and the House cocktails are always interesting and delicious. The space is beautiful and very eye catching without being overwhelming. The overwhelming part is the noise. It is SO loud in there. It is a struggle to have a decent conversation. And the problem doesn’t come from the live music. It’s the echo from all the surrounding tables. And if there’s a large party(like on Friday when I was there) it’s oppressive. With any luck you won’t be seated among the tables in the alcove. Try for the counter to watch the kitchen magic. It’s mesmerizing. Overall still my favorite but it would be nice if they could deaden the echo a bit.
I loved this place. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The restaurant looked nice. Service was excellent. I loved all the dishes that we ordered. I will definitely go back again.
Great experience. Service in particular. Rafael helped us understand and enjoy the food and beverages and was a great personality without taking over. Great Jamon and paella. G+T rocks. Gin selection amazed.
The environment was beautiful and the waiter was very enthusiastic. He also gave us a dessert to finish his trip to San Francisco.Good restaurant
The octopus was outstanding, the Paella was very good; Great Spanish wine list too; solid restaurant and I'd definitely go back
Everything was great. Servers were understanding and friendly. Food was great.
Service needs some improvement and food can also be improved
Loved it! Had tapas and a delicious reasonable bottle of wine.
Tapas we're amazing. Fideua was dry rice with some seafood on top.
Exceeded expectations-we’ll be back!
We were so sad they didn’t have bruselas and fideua on the lunch menu. :(
Friendly staff, food just OK.
Very good Spanish food. Not too overpriced. Every dish was delicious.
That’s annoying to ask people to type something. If that’s your new policy I don’t want to do that
Very fun restaurant and the meal was wonderful.. highly recommend the octopus and the Bravas. Love that they had Spanish Vermut.
The food was just OK, but not memorable. I had read great reviews and was expecting more. While it's nice to have live music, it was difficult to hear any conversation in the bar or dining room.
Great evening made memorable by our waiter Kym, recommend Cafe Claude for a nice romantic dinner.
The type of restaurant isn’t Spanish , the people that cook never taste o watch at less in YouTube good the Spanish food is .
Very friendly staff with helpful recommendations - fun night celebrating a birthday. sitting at the calendar is great view to the kitchen!
It was very lovely. Love Chef Bob.
Great food. Passed on the paella because we weren’t very hungry but the tapas were really good, especially the octopus and the cauliflower.
The waiter was slow to acknowledge us, he attended another table that arrived after us, when the waiter finally arrived to our table he did not offer us drinks, he just asked for our food order and seemed bothered by us. I had to call him back and tell him that he didn't offer us anything to drink or if we were interested in the wine tasting that the host offered us before, which by the way I wanted to try since the host mention it. The waiter response was with attitude “ well you are coming from the bar, but if you want one” At this point I really started getting upset but then I didn't want him to ruin over special day.
We ordered paella and some cheeses and patatas, the patatas never arrived and I asked the waiter for the patatas and he didn't order the patatas claiming that I never order them, but I still apologize thinking I really didn’t order it. When he came back with the patatas he kind of throw it on the table and said I will pay for them is not going to be on your tab, We weren't really expecting anything for free, we just wanted to spend a nice evening with my husband. Then the paella was burnt ( I have a picture of the paella burnt) but I didn’t want to mention it to the waiter for obvious reasons.
To the end of the night the waiter brought us the cake, he put it on the table reluctantly and took away so fast giving us no time to take a picture or my husband appreciate the cake. My husband ordered a coffee and it arrived until we were done eating our cake. We left the restaurant feeling disappointed and not very satisfied, we were expecting the whole experience, even though the host and bartender were really nice our server really tainted our experience. Very beautiful place but very disappointed in the waiter service and discontent with the paella.
Amazing on all levels!!!
Great food - we had the octopus, the tortilla, the shishito peppers, the charcuterie board (including pan con tomate). Everything was amazing. The design your own G&T was also great. Good service, interesting selection of wine. We will be back!
Really enjoy the food and atmosphere. Will come back.
Great restaurant but our server didn’t care less about checking back in with us. Never asked if you wanted another cocktail and when he asked if we wanted dessert and we said no thanks he still brought the dessert menu. Totally checked out of his job
Always a great meal at Bellota. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff
Beautiful restaurant. Loved the live music. Even with our reservation we had to wait 40 minutes for our table. Amazing staff of waiters and bartenders. Food is decent and pricey.
The food cannot overcome the incredible noise. It is ridiculous that we should have to endure this in a nice restaurant. I enjoyed the food--but couldn't hear a thing the waiter said (nor could he hear us), and couldn't hear the person across a 2 person table without leaning in. I am not old and decrepit and I had a sore throat when I returned home. The waiter basically never came by, either. Never asked if we wanted a drink beyond the first. There are too many good restaurants in the city to return here.
I think the restaurant is too loud. Food is good. Service is great.
Visiting from Toronto and had dinner at Bellota our 1st night. Sat at Chef’s counter and it was amazing! Staff super friendly, went out of their way to make our dinner & experience memorable. Food, service & ambience top notch.
A little loud but they had a band so that was great. The service was outstanding the drinks were really fantastic as was the food.
Gin Tonic. Mixed salad. Squash. Seafood paella. Cheesecake & coffee. You will not be disappointed.
Awesome food and wine experience! Wine Director Erin was very knowledgeable and shared recent wine list finds that were fantastic and complimented our meal really well! We will be back!
Friends birthday dinner. Service was excellent and food was amazing.
Paying for the ambiance and the service. The food is meh.
They charged us twice we are still awaiting a response for them.
Love coming here, food and service always first class. Animal style on the batatas is a must, the jamon melts in your mouth.
