Great little Italian place in downtown Fairfax. All the Italian standards well-prepared, with friendly and efficient service. Highly recommended.
We went here for our anniversary dinner with another couple who were celebrating their 48th! We had a great time, the food was superb and the atmosphere perfect.
I have been coming to Vellisimo since u was a nipper. Yes people still use that word pay attention. Thanks to its service and the food it has been the measuring stick against which all other restraunts have been compared. I hope that it continues for many years to come, changing to adapt but still remaining essentially the same.
Bellissimo's food is always outstanding and the service is great. It outperforms a lot of other places that are more expensive. We would recommend to anyone looking for a place for a special dinner.
Was recommended by a friend for a special occasion for two. Decided to let the chef decide and ordered the 5 course meal. Was not disappointed! Each course was presented beautifully and tasted sublime! Coffee and dessert and we were beyond satisfied. Service was professional and just the right balance between attentive and discreetly invisible. Will keep it on the short list for spacial occasions, or just for a delightful dinner out.
Fabulous service. Very charming and attentive wait staff. Made us feel like a million $$. Great food. Just the right portion size. And reasonably priced. What more can one ask for. Definitely going back. Thank you Ennio. Sophia & Gina Lolobrigida. :)
We came here on the spur of the moment. It is local and we love Italian food.
I was better than expected. We intend to return during the restaurant week.
This used to be one of the better restaurants in Fairfax city. We were disappointed that it has lapsed into just so-so. Calamari was chewy. The prucuitto in the parmesan was rancid. The carrots were over sweetened. Neither of us finished our meals and declined to take leftovers home. Too bad. We used to really like this place. What happened? Did they change owners or chefs?
Enjoyed a Friday night dinner (6:00 p.m. seating). Was surprised that restaurant was not full -- perhaps Fairfax is a later evening dinner place.
Service was very good.
Food was very good -- albeit expensive (approx. $50/person, without wine)
Its a classic Italian restaurant. Menu was quite extensive for such a little place; perhaps too extensive. I suspect they would do better with less. variety. Since there were only 4 tables occupied on a Sunday, it left me wondering what would be the freshest of these offerings. Also, while the table cloths were clean and neat, the wine menu was encased in plastic sleeves and was very dirty and stained.
The wine prices were about right for an upscale place, but I'm not sure this place can make that claim. The food was fine. But no one remarked that their dish was fabulous. The waiter was a very nice man, but he hovered too much. I would go back if someone I was with wanted to eat there, but I wouldn't suggest it.
The food was good. The ambience is nice but maybe a little dated. One problem was A lamb dish on the menu which was not available and then the server said it has not been available for months so the menu also may need a little bit of updating. Otherwise an enjoyable restaurant
Service and food were outstanding. Very nice Italian food. Even the house wines were excellent. Had a nice bottle of wine from Italy.
The food was amazing, we got to the restaurant 3 minutes late and I felt like we were rush since they close at 10pm but our reservations was at 9:30pm I will recommend not to take late reservation if you need to rush customer out.
Enjoyed dinner with friends. We had a very good meal . I had the salmon for the main course. The beans & sausage appetizer I had was outstanding. All of our desserts were delicious. This is a cozy restaurant & a wonderful ambience.
My favorite Italian restaurant in Old Town Fairfax City. The owner (Omar) is the chief chef who continually produces incredible dishes that look as good as the taste. Omar has assembled a small wait staff who dress and act like professionals. Lovely quiet and romantic atmosphere. I will continue to frequent this GREAT find. Always lots of flowers.
Bellissimo is a small Italian restaurant in Old Towne Fairfax my friend and I decided to try for restaurant week. We were greeted right away and service was upbeat and pleasant. They were attentive for how busy it was. Food portions were larger than we expected so we had some great leftovers for the following day. We definitely recommend getting the tiramisu cake. It was fantastic and delicious (and that was quite a decent portion as well so really worth it).
restaurant week menu was a real bargain and the food was very good
As always, Bellissimo provided a quality meal at a reasonable price. The service is outstanding with a server who is efficient, friendly, and provides excellent advice on the offerings. Bellissimo is our favorite Italian restaurant.
We always enjoy a visit to Bellissimo. We visited for Fairfax City's Restaurant Week for dinner. The restaurant week menu is really an outstanding value. I enjoyed the soup of the day, the fresh fish and the tiramisu. The restaurant is quiet and very pretty, and the servers are all very good.
Husband & I went for dinner on a Sat. night. I had the best veal that I've had in a long time. My husband had the ragu and we both shared a salad. We enjoyed the tiramisu for dessert. The restaurant was full that night so it was a little noisy & sometimes hard to hear. We'll definitely return.
This was my first visit to Bellissimo and I will look forward to more visits in the future. Bellissimo is a small and charming restaurant. My friend and I enjoyed our dinner so very much. I especially appreciate the special care that was taken due to my dietary restrictions. Rey was very knowledgeable about what I could eat and the chef took great care to prepare my food. Our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. Ennio, José and Elba were also very attentive. My compliments to the chef!
I took myself here for dinner on a Sunday night and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of my meal and service. I have been to several Italian restaurants and I even lived in Italy for 2 years. Bellissimo is one of the best Italian restaurants I have visited. I will definitely be coming back.
Service was great and the food was excellent. Overall it was a great dinning experience.
Nicely prepared food. Elegant restaurant. A bit pricey.
Immensely charming service, quiet atmosphere, white tablecloths, killer red sauce. Your mileage may vary, but this is the sort of Italian restaurant I (Italian family, Jersey born) am conditioned to expect.
I've only been once, so I'll save a star on the excellent food until I've sampled more of the menu. For what it's worth, every bite I sampled from my girlfriend's plate was just as good as what I ordered.
A tad pricey, but it's not like they're hiding that from you. It isn't S'barro.
The place is small and the seating a little cramped. It appears to draw an older crowd. That said, the food is very, very good and the prices are very reasonable. It is authentic in an old school way. We would much rather come here than go to a Great American Restaurant outlet, for example.
This restaurant is perfect for a romantic evening! The service was great and the food was incredible! The restaurant itself is not the biggest so I would suggest making reservations.
Our experience was disappointing. The food was bland and unremarkable. We had 2 servers waiting on our table and they did not seem to be communicating with each other so we were asked multiple times if we had already ordered various courses. The price was quite high compared to other local restaurants.
Awesome food and service. The Crab Ravioli special was very tasty.
We love this restaurant. Good food, good service and Old World charm.
We lucked out that it was restaurant week so the meal was inexpensive. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the regular menu so the selections were limited. The only other problem was since we were going to a concert close by and were running late it wasn't as leisurely as it could have been. Not the restaurant's fault.
Service was horrible with the server bringing out the wrong appetizer and main dish. We went during Restaurant Week but it wasn’t busy at all. The people dining next to us on both sides actually thought it was pretty comical because the server kept making the mistake. Not even an apology even though we had to wait a long time for the right food to come out. Also do NOT order any cocktail as their drinks are made horrible. Most likely because there is no bartender and the server makes the drinks. Not a good experience at all. Food was good though!
The service was very good and their restaurant week menu was good as well.
Went for restaurant week. They had an excellent selection with lots of choices. We had the hardest time choosing. The service was excellent and the waitor was very helpful and patient as we chose a bottle of wine and our dinner order. The wine recommendation was excellent.
For starter we ordered Crostina di Polenta Calamari and Cotechino Con Fagioli. I have never had grilled calamari that was so tender. It was absolute perfection. The sausage was also delicious. For entree we ordered Vitello al Porcine and Fettucine al Ragu Salsiccia Caprino. Both were delicious but I think the veal was tastier. Dessert was incredible. We had the strawberries with cream and cheesecake. Amazing.
I definitely recommend this place of you like a cozy little restaurant with excellent food and service. We got there a little bit early which I think was great for getting a little extra attention from our server. They do get quite busy as the night progresses since they split the restaurant between 2 servers.
We did not have any trouble finding parking across the street. Maybe also a benefit of being a bit early.
One of my favorite restaurants!!! The executive chef owns the restaurant and is a master in the kitchen while his wife does the paperwork. Having been in the kitchen of various Italian restaurants he combines all his skills and knowledge in his own kitchen and is able to produce meals from all the regions of Italy. The wait staff are true professionals that glide unobtrusively around the dinning room look to serve your every need. A wonderful older gentleman from Sicily was my server and was extremely helpful in my dish selections. You can not go wrong in selecting anything on the menu!! The lamb and veal dishes were recommended by Chef. This was and remains one of best restaurant week bargains. The dining area is oh so comfortable and warm.
The bread was amazing, our waiter was extremely charming and entertaining, the ambience was perfect and the food was delicious. Cannot think of anything to criticize! Would definitely go back again if I had the chance.
We tried lunch during restaurant week. Bellisimo's menu was the best value in our area.
Don't know if regular prices would convey the same value.
Excellent service and food was great.
This was the first dining experience at Bellissimo for my wife and me--and, frankly, was chosen at random, largely because of its location. We had not been out on a "date" night in quite some time and Bellissimo ended up being a serendipitous selection. It was romantic, the wait staff attentive--without being excessively so, the food was very good, and it reminded us of several places we frequented while dating before marriage--adding immensely to our enjoyment. We have already recommended Bellissimo to friends who enjoy Italian food.
We had a wonderful evening the food was and service was outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive and personable. We will definitely return.
