Bellissimo Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I found this restaurant to be a very lovely little place. It was stunningly quiet inside. You merely had to whisper to hold a conversation. I have never been to somewhere like that. It was very very relaxing. The food was to die for! They serve nicely controlled portions that don't make you feel too full. Finally, the services was fast but not so much so that you felt rushed. I will definitely return for another quiet night of fine dining!
This is definitely one of, if not the best Italian restaurants I've been to in this area. The ambiance is great, the staff is extremely friendly, and the food was fantastic. They seem to genuinely care about the product that they put out. They also bake their own bread, which was also fantastic. The only possible criticism I could give was that there is not an extensive wine list. But not being a big wine person, that did not bother me so much. Being that I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and have eaten in some of the best Italian restaurants, I can truly say that Bellissimo does it right.
This was a very disappointing experience, especially since my family was looking forward to a nice Thanksgiving dinner. We arrived for our reservation on time, and we were promptly seated. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there. Even though the restaurant was mostly empty, the servers were very slow to come to our table to deliver menus, water, take orders, and deliver food. When we received our turkey dinners, the mashed potatoes and dressing were cold. The turkey was lukewarm. In addition, the food tasted like someone only knew of one seasoning--salt. Everything was very salty. In summary, I would not recommend this restaurant based upon the poor service and food.
A warm welcome on a cold, windy weeknight. Were were early and saw only three other guests, or our ambiance score might have been higher. Loved the background music and the fact that it was in the background. So pleasantly quiet! If my tenderloin had been a bit more tender and my medium rare not medium, our food score would have been higher. But the excellent salad and the impeccable service will bring us back.
This was our second visit to Bellissimo, this time for an anniversary dinner with my wife.
Service is prompt, though it should be, as it was not very busy. (Note - it was Sunday evening at 7pm)
I've only had pasta dishes on my 2 visits and they were excellent both times.
I thought it strange that we were sat at a table, only to have the only other table of diners to be sat right next to us. We would have enjoyed a touch more privacy considering the restaurant was otherwise empty.
The table that was finishing when we arrived, and the table that was sat next to us were both clearly regulars.
Would go back for the food, perhaps at a busier hour to experience a different take on the ambiance.
Nice place with SLOW everything. Service slow, attention to basic dining needs, slow. Desert offering and delivery, slow. Took forever to get check and then they couldn't process credit cards..... Had a choice of leaving credit card info for them to run when their credit card equipment returned to service or.....pay cash. (over 100 for 2) Ouch. I'll try this place 1 more time but I have to get over the first try...... Make sure to leave for your reservation early enough to find a parking spot (free garage a block or 2 away or the Huddleston Mem. Library free parking) and walk to your food. Allow at least 2 hours for dinner if you're going anywhere after your meal.
I'll try this place 1 more time but....... I'll pretend 1st time didn't happen.
Bellissimo in the very heart of "Old Town Fairfax City" is a great spot for a pre-concert or sports event at the Eagle Bank Arena of G.M.U., which is a quick Uber ride away. With abundant free public parking within an easy walk of this restaurant, getting to events is a snap! But, of course there is the reward of great Italian Cuisine and attentive service with a bonus find: a very talented barman! We'll be back for sure!
The food was good and the restaurant is nice and clean. However, the best part of the dining experience was our waiter. I can't remember his name, but he's. Sweet, 85 yo Sicilian man. And he was just perfect. Nice, funny, he even sang. My dad is sicilian and he absolutely loved it! My family is out-going and friendly, from the Midwest; and we just thought he truly made the dining experience excellent!
Food was very disappointing. We had been to the restaurant many times in the past and were looking forward to returning. The ambience was nice (small and cozy), the waiter was gracious, and the noise level a real plus (we were able to converse with our friends. However, three out of four members of our party found the food barely acceptable. We won't return.
Some interesting dishes like Calamari Urnido, and the specials were delicious. Among 5 diners, Veal, Lamb, Chicken, Halibut were all satisfying in taste and amount. Appetizers were also enjoyable, Toretti Di Mozzarella and Carpaccio Di Carne. Service is good and accomodating. Very small space.
Expensive and mediocre. The salmon Special was overcooked, and I thought the fish was past it's prime. My son had a chicken dish, which he finished and said was good. My wife's pasta was overcooked and there was a lot of water in the bowl, indicating it had not been properly drained. I won't be returning, even though the restaurant itself is quite lovely and intimate. Ambiance counts, but not as much as food, and in this case the food was way off the mark.
