Chef Daryl never disappoints. This restaurant is a gem. Service is super friendly and the cozy atmosphere!!
We had the best time. I'll def be recommending to friends.
The best place i have been in NY this year, terrific food, better service and everything that you need to feel in a restaurant but at your home!
Such a warm ambiance with an amazing, innovative menu and great customer service.
This must have been our 4th or 5th time and there's a reason we keep coming back to Belle. It's such a unique experience and the food is ALWAYS delicious. There are items we have to get every time and there are new things we try as the menu keeps changing. It's really a special place we've been meaning to share with friends but really want to keep the secret for ourselves.
Awesome intimate dining experience.
Absolutely the best dining experience I’ve had in quite sometime!! A wonderful up close opportunity to share the cuisine experience with Chefs preparing your meal to order right in front of you. I could have eaten an entire bowl of the brussel sprouts and the homemade sausage was delicious. My friend and I “fought” over the corn croquette. Just amazing all the way around. And to top the night off everyone sang happy birthday to me. Thank you for a special time!!
This is a very small place which is good and bad. Good is the ambiance, apps, service, and conversation with owner and chef. Not so good were the entrees (my meat was over cooked) and we left with “kitchen smoke” on our clothes.
always delicious. always a special evening when eating there.
The food is amazing with layers of flavors and do not miss the desserts as they continue the adventure. The chef and ambience are intimate and exceptional. You will feel like you have your own private professional chef in your home. Don't miss this culinary treat!
Absolutely stellar, and a treat to watch. Taken care of at every turn, and would recommend to any/everyone.
I’m referring friends already. What else do I need to say! Thank you!
Kudos to the owners/staff of Belle Harlem. This was one of the best dining experiences that I have ever had. The food, ambiance, other diners, service, and setting was the perfect formula for an exceptional evening out. By the end of the night, I felt as though I had been graciously welcomed to sit around the island in someone’s home. Darryl and Melissa have an authenticity about themselves that is translated through the food they and Chef Alex prepare and serve.
I was in New York to see Alvin Ailey. I thought that would be the highlight of my day. However, dining at Belle Harlem was the ultimate culmination to a fantastic time in New York. Darryl, Melissa, Alex, and the young lady on staff, thank you for everything.
Absolutely outstanding experience. One of the best meals I’ve ever had in New York. We will be back very soon.
We had such a lovely experience! It's small but you get an awesome meal while watching the kitchen from the counter seating. We loved the concept and will definitely be back!
Food superb, fresh ingredients, chef friendly and eager to describe the ingredients and preparation of food items.
This place is a great little gem! Truly worth a visit. It’s small and you sit at a bar to be served along with the other patrons of the restaurant. It’s an intimate space and despite sharing a space with others, still very easy to be intimate between just two people. Don’t come here expecting white glove service. Come expecting to be treated like a guest in someone’s home. You won’t be disappointed.
Belle Harlem is a unique experience where you're seated in the kitchen with the chef. The food was outstanding and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting NYC.
This is now one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. We had such a great time, we came back the next night for a carbon copy. The appetizer choices of Mac & Cheese rolls, philly cheese steak, and the chicken and waffles were all exceptional. Hard to say which one was the best. If I had to pick one go with the chicken & waffles. On the large plates. The filet & sea bass were both amazing. And for the desert you have to save room for the beignets. They were better than Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. The owners were great hosts and you feel like you are in their personal kitchen. Only 12 seats in the restaurant. Don’t miss this treat when you are in New York!
Saw all the great reviews and was excited to invite an out of town guest here for dinner. While I get that they have to charge $20 each for appetizers, drinks and desserts to cover the cost of such a small place, the food was pretty ordinary. They burned the first order of sea bass as we watched. They second was cooked pretty quickly on hot plates and they blowtorched it to attempt to make the skin crispy. The beans it was served with were undercooked and the 2 pieces of broccoli lacked flavor. We watched them make desserts for the other group that was seated and they were all pretty simple for the price (brownie, apple tart and beignets). For cramped seating that requires you to sit sideways while eating both my friend and I left feeling quite underwhelmed.
This was our second time at belle Harlem. It was wonderful the first time and wonderful the second. Great food, staff and fabulous, intimate setting.
Obsessed. Everything is so fresh and delicious!!!
Can’t wait to go back
Feels and tastes like you are dining in the personal kitchen of a Michelin-starred chef. The whole place is an open kitchen. Very intimate and very special - only about 11 seats.
One of my favorite restaurants and Chef D NEVER disappoints.
This restaurant ended up being not what we expected. The menu was a little pricey for us and the choices were slim. We ended up having two small plates that were very tasty but just less than we expected for the money.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, food and impeccable service.
Starters, main, and dessert were delightfully creative. The dishes were a wonderful blend southern inspired comfort tradition and French culinary technique. We also loved the cozy environment and conversations it fostered with the server and owners. Highly recommended.
Heaven on Earth
Food was superb. Love the intimacy of one large table for 12 guests. If you’re unlucky enough to sit near someone who
Is very loud that may be unfortunate but with that being said we met some lovely people and the evening was a success. Thank you to Lloyd for a delicious experience. We will certainly be back!!!
Fantastic food, lovely restaurant, very attentive staff.
Belle Harlem was absolutely fantastic! Everything we ate (mac and cheese egg rolls, chicken and waffles, brussels sprouts, roasted pork, brownie with homemade marshmallows) was incredible. I loved the intimate atmosphere--it was so cool to be able to chat with the hostess and chefs while they cooked!
I recommend everything about this place and will definitely be going back soon!
Just a wonderful experience all around.
Would recommend to all my foodie friends.
Great food! Great staff! Great conversations! Had a amazing time and we will definitely come back.
Very fun evening with creative comfort food cooked superbly right before your eyes. The chef and sous chef maintain banter with the 12 diners while prepping and cooking your meals. The server/wine steward/everything else person was charming, informed, and very efficient. The three were a real team and all were engaged with the diners. A totally delightful evening!
The food was amazing!! Small and intimate place. Great for couples.
Belle Harlem is outstanding. It’s unique approach of having two seatings in essentially an 8-10 person restaurant is really fun. The layout allows you to watch Chef cook! It’s an intimate and wonderful experience. The food is to die for and the service is impeccable. Go ASAP!! It is a true gem!
Dined here tonight with friends. This was the best culinary experience I had in forever!
First: the intimate setting was great for conversation. I came here with 3 other friends, and, even though the space is small, it never felt crowded, and we could speak at a normal (to sometimes loud!) volume.
Second: the ambience was fitting. The music was definitely smooth R&B, which was a conversation-starter in itself!
Third: the staff was inviting and attentive. I know there are only 12 seats in the entire place, but it felt like we were our own table. I do not remember ever having to ask for anything. Glasses were replenished, plates were taken away frequently (and we ordered a lot of food!), and our waitress constantly checked in on us. The chef, who was really personable and warm, was very gracious and genuinely flattered by our compliments.
Last (not at ALL least): THE FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We shared almost every menu item, and were amazed at almost every bite. The flavor profiles! The freshness of the ingredients! The play on textures of many of the dishes! The presentation! And the perfect execution! I wish I could give this place 6 STARS.
Come to Belle Harlem. You will not regret it.
On a whim, we made a reservation for Belle. I was interested in a good dinner out in a small restaurant. Thank goodness I made a reservation, because the restaurant is very small. The smallness of the restaurant, and the closeness of the kitchen, only improve the experience!
The food was wonderful, the people creating the food and the experience are fantastic, and the other patrons were fun to talk to you. This is a must try restaurant whether you’re local, or visiting from out of town like me. I’m told the menu changes regularly, so I won’t describe the food, but everything was created by such purpose and creativity you will not be disappointed.
