Show your Mom how special she/he is to you. We will be offering a special 3 course Tasting Menu, in addition to our a la carte menu. We will also be open for dinner that evening if you can't get in for brunch.

I liked the pasta selection. The swordfish was tasty. Also, the aioli that came with the asparagus was magnifique.
Food was good, but service was cold and awkward. I was celebrating my birthday and wasn’t even told “happy birthday” from my server. Wine is kept too warm.
We haven't been to Bellanico for awhile (our loss), but returned for lunch on 4/2 and brunch on 4/8. Both meals were excellent. If anything, the food has improved in our absence. Of special note was the duck confit dish I had for lunch. A perfectly cooked leg and and thigh--crisp skin and succulent, fall-off-the-bone meat, served with farrow and an unctuous sauce bursting with meaty flavor. A crisp asparagus salad completed one of the truly tastiest meals I've had in a long time. At both of our recent meals, all the guests were equally enthusiastic about the meals they enjoyed. WE'RE BACK!
We really enjoyed the weekly tasting menu at the pan-Italian charmer Bellanico on a busy Saturday night. It was clear from the happy diners at tables near ours that their enjoyment was equal to ours. Both my partner and I went for the $40, four-course menu and $18 wine pairing, and everything was tasty. In particular she liked the lumache and mussels (note to Italian speakers – in this case lumache are not snails literally, but tube pasta shaped to resemble snails), and our flank steak was delicious and cooked as ordered. The dessert was a perfect salted caramel panna cotta, perhaps not a traditional dish but delish nonetheless. The wines were very good and went well with the dishes. They hailed from Spain, France and of course Italy. My only knock would be that the noise level was a bit elevated and the tables, European-style, were quite close together. I imagine a weekday dinner would be a bit less hectic. Still, it was a delight, and service was tops.
The four of us had a wonderful evening. Our server was extremely attentive and helpful. The food was fabulous!!! As always. The dessert was unbelievably flavorful and unctuous! Chocolate and marscapone cream. To die for. The pork and polenta was so flavorful. Really rich and not over-seasoned. Just perfect.
This place is always at the top of our list of favorite places to go. It is friendly, an easy environment, and the food never disappoints. Five stars!!
Great service and fantastic food
Bellanico was wonderful as usual. I brought out-of-town friends and we had excellent food and Prosecco. Attentive waiter. Low ambient noise. Easy to get to neighborhood restaurant.
Lovely small restaurant with a nice lunch/brunch menu. Perfectly cooked and seasoned pasta dishes. Excellent service. A real find in the Rockridge neighborhood.
good neighborhood restaurant. we had a quiet table which was nice. i did enjoy the wine tasting flight selection.
We enjoyed Bellanico. The food is truly Italian comfort food.
Warm and pleasant environment and service.
Nice location, parking found on side streets.
Pasta cooked to perfection, but sauces are lacking (to hot/spicy (and too much of it) on the tagliatelle, too bland on the gnocchi, too heavy on the malfatti.
We enjoyed the Florentine meatball with parsley pesto.
My partner returned to Bellanico for dinner on Sunday. We have been there several times before but wanted to try it again. As was true for the other meals (lunches and dinners) the restaurant did not disappoint. Some familiar Italian items were on the menu (Swiss chard malfatti, brown butter, sage and grana padano: roast chicken) but there were also new, inventive items that we enjoyed. The hand-crafted burrata appetizer was prepared in a new way and was, as always, wonderful. My partner had black rice arancini telefono which was witty and delicious. My cocoa casarecce pasta with beef ragu was very rich, but scrumptious and her tagliolini was equally good. Our server was charming, attentive and didn't tire of our questions. Our table was in a rare, quiet area between the bar and the window. I should also mention that their flights of Italian wines are well selected. An enjoyable evening, we won't wait to return again.
Probably one of the most perfectly cooked thick cut pork chops i've had in a long time....juicy, tender not dry and composed nicely with other ingredients in the dish....table of 5 and 3 of us ordered the tasty pork chop and was wowed by it....the duck 2 ways was enjoyed along with the pork sugo....delicious! Highly recommend!
Excellent food for a great price. Warm, friendly ambience in a cute neighborhood.
Great little neighborhood gem. Went in with only the reviews and was so pleased. Food was outstanding and service was great. Did not do the set meal because there were other things on the menu we wanted to try. Great authentic Italian cuisine. Good wine list, mostly Italian wines to choose from. Cozy seating....we were right next to a couples on both sides. I would go again!!
Third time here, first time for lunch. They have onsistently good food and the service was great.
Disappointed. Service lacked any explanation of what was being served
i’m a fan of this place since they opened. i’ve never been dissatisfied.
The brunch was excellent. I had the smoked salmon over scrambled eggs and topped with arugula. A glass of prosecco topped off a great meal.
Great food and service!!
Awesome food, as usual. Late reservation, told on the phone as long as we arrived by 9:45 we’d be fine! Wish the waitress had heard that message!! Very rude as we arrived pointing out the late hour...pulled tasting menus out of our hands saying it was no longer available. I explained what we’d been told it would be offered to us and that we arrived at a time we’d been told would be ok.
Did relent and hand back the menu though in a very curt and unfriendly way. Continued this treatment throughout our dinner.
Sad bc our favorite neighborhood restaurant and second time with beyond bad service.
Come on!!! Lots of great waiters in the Bay Area!! Need to step it up Bellanicos!
Delicious food, many intriguing combinations. Exciting. Food reasonably priced and exceptional is the reason to go.
Bellanico just doesn't go wrong. It is a perfect small sized restaurant in the lovely Oakland Glenview neighborhood. Neighbors dine there regularly, but so do people who travel to it because it is worth seeking out. What makes it great is that the food is very innovative California style cuisine, the owner and management are friendly, knowledgeable, it is reasonably priced, and although it is casual dining, you always think it is special.
Excellent food. Attentive service without hovering. Very knowledgeable server. Great ambience.
Food was simply okay, wine flights, great! Small restaurant that has maybe one too many tables. Would recommend to try something new but wouldn't place any big bets on it.
This was my first time at this restaurant. We had the tasting menu. It was perfect. I will definitely recommend.
We've walked by this neighborhood gem for many years but were prompted to make a reservation after a glowing report on Check, Please. The food is quite simply wonderful. There is a lovely tasting menu for $40, $57 with wine pairings. Truly a bargain. Our only concern was the noise level (we're seniors and struggle to hear across the table!) and a glitch in the kitchen that delayed our entrees. Neither were enough for me to really blame anyone. To avoid the noise, I think we'll go during the week when it's not so crowded. The Italian wine list was very impressive, with our waitress leading us nimbly through. We'll definitely be back and plan to try lunch and brunch.
When we arrived the table by the front window we always request was way too cold and we asked if we could move. Despite the restaurant being only half full we were told that we could only sit at the bar which we did. Throughout our meal the restaurant was never more than half full. In fact, when we left there were nine open tables.
Each dish was fantastic. Every bite was beyond belief. We absolutely loved this little gem of a restaurant. Cannot recommend it enough. Service was impeccable also.
Creative tasty food. Diverse wines by the glass. Yum.
I have visited on and off for many years. Usually I sit at the bar, which is intimate with neighbors, but it’s the bar. This time we were seated between two other couples at the side-wall, despite there being 4-5 empty tables available closer to the door. Not sure why we were crammed in between others. The side-wall tables are about 4-5 inches apart which is VERY close. You basically have dinner with your neighbors at the tables on either side. Forget about privacy or an intimate conversation. The closeness of the tables requires the server to sneak up from behind since they can’t approach from the side, startling me on more than one occasion. The server was rushed and this energy was transferred to us. Not a relaxing meal. The server recommended a wine only to come back and say they were out of the wine. The “taste” of the wine by the glass was more of a whiff since only a drop or two was offered to taste. On the other hand, I very much like the half servings and the food is good. My advice to management would be to keep up the good food, calm down the servers (perhaps a nice glass of wine before duty), and remove at least one table from the side-wall to enable another inch or two of privacy. Not sure if I'll be back soon.
As a visitor to this area, it was nice to find this neighborhood gem...about 20 tables with a friendly vibe. Salad was large and delicious, with interesting vegetables. We enjoyed the Hanger steak, vegetables cooked perfectly.
We've dined here virtually since day one. Unbelievably, Bellanico's food now seems better than ever. Have been twice in the last two weeks (lucky me). In my view, Bellanico is serving some of the best Italian and Italian-inspired cuisine in the Bay Area.
Food was perfect! Service was great. One of the best Italian restaurants in the Bay Area!
Such fine food, service and wine. Wish I could eat here more often, but it does get pricey. Still an excellent choice for a special dinner with special people. I loved the risotto with nettles and funghi...just fabulous and a gorgeous shade of green! Other guests quite satisfied, too.
Love the wine flights/options for 3 oz pours. The tasting menu (4 courses) is really a good value. Sformato, tuna crudo, pastas are always excellent. Fish is always perfectly cooked. And desserts are not too big and not too sweet. Overall my favorite Italian place in the east bay. (If only parking were easier! 15 minutes of circling to park several more minutes away.)
We were there for Saturday brunch. All of our dishes were well crafted and delicious. Service was good but there were a few glitches that required second requests.
The host/manager was rude and dismissive. The food was the worst food I have had at a restaurant. The food was undercooked, under seasoned, and lacked creativity.
This is a very nice place but the food was a little overkill. I felt like every single dish we had was close, but too much. My favorite was the beet ravioli, a dish I had never had before but it was very good. Again, it was overdone by being doused in poppy seeds...maybe an entire tablespoon. The foie gras was ice cold and cut in huge, rich slices on top of tiny crositini. The steak was very mediocre. My boyfriend ordered a white fish covered inn prosciutto which we sent back for being raw. It was incredibly salty but he ate it and later got sick. The desserts were overbearing. I think the service and people are great, the menu just needs simplified.
Tasting three course lunch with wine pairings was full of flavor and artistically presented.
