About Bella Monica
Bella Monica Cucina & Vino is a family-run trattoria with recipes handed down from our grandparents. Our menu features Neapolitan dishes like gourmet thin-crust pizzas called, Flatbreads, Pasta, Seafood, Chicken, Local Pork & Beef dishes. Our tomato sauce is made just like Nana's. It's so good that we sometimes eat it like soup! Without a doubt, we serve the best cannoli you will ever taste! Our wine list features all Italian, hard-to-find selections that are a perfect match for our Pasta & Flatbreads.
We showcase local art on the walls and play a great upbeat music mix. You can dine al fresco on our patio.

Sundays at our Nana’s house were special days. It began when we entered Nana’s house and the smell of the ‘gravy’ simmering on the stove would greet us at the door. Nana would fly out of the kitchen to pinch our cheeks, give us hugs, and lead us to the table full of food saying “mangia, mangia”. Sundays with Nana were days where everything seemed to stop for family and friends; everything except for pasta. Aunts, uncles and cousins would trickle into Nana’s house throughout the day to take their places at the table. The day never seemed to end as we would sit for hours sharing the food.

Bella Monica Ratings and Reviews
Bella is without-a-doubt our favorite Raleigh restaurant. The food is always amazing and the service is always just right. This visit was for a birthday celebration and the staff did a wonderful job with decorations and well wishes. On this trip the group had the chicken parm, the vegetable lasagna, a chopped salad, and a gluten-free sausage and gravy. All the dishes were delicious. We all shared a tiramisu and a cannoli and they were both superb. Also, don't be afraid of the house red. It is delicious and pairs up perfectly with their red sauce. We are looking forward to our next visit.
The service was great, the wine good, the atmosphere great.
I ordered meatballes with sauce over spagetti - comfort food. As I started to eat the meatballs I noted them to be burnt on one side and should have sent them back. The sauce was excellent.
And of course the dessert was heavenly.
Great meal w friends, had eggplant rollatini for appetizer..perfect! I had pumpkin ravioli with shataki mushrooms, amazing, husband had beef ribs lasagne..off the charts he said. We are never disappointed, great service, friendly, engaging..what's not to love?
You lost me at the bread. I expected a nice crusty Italian loaf but some square fluffy thing was presented sitting in oil with pickled purple onions on top. Then Caesar salad with roasted red bell peppers? Calamari was a few tiny pieces swimming in pesto and beans. Final insult was eggplant parm which was spaghetti with piled slices of sautéed (not breaded) eggplant (chewy peel on) covered in mozzarella cheese. How is that eggplant parm? Top with very slow service and very noisy place. Dinner for two $133 wish I stayed home with a stouffers frozen entree would have been better.
Food is consistently outstanding, with seasonal and special dishes daily along with their standards. I just had the pumpkin ravioli with brown butter sage sauce, porcini mushrooms, pancetta and candied pumpkin seeds over sautéed spinach. To say it was amazing doesn’t begin to accurately describe it. With their standard menu, their cannelloni can’t be beat!
Perfect date night with my boyfriend. So much so that we booked a large family dinner at Bella Monica the next weekend. The lasagna is a staple and I jumped out of my comfort zone and tried the shrimp scampi — all paired with wine. The best Italian in Raleigh hands down.
We have been to Bella Monica many times. It's become our "go to" restaurant in town for great gluten free options. The staff is very attentive to our needs - we can trust them completely to ensure that there is no cross contamination. And the food is GREAT!
I took my elderly friend here for her birthday lunch, and told the restaurant that it was her birthday. They called here to get her name, and surprised us with a chalk-drawn sign on the sidewalk, along with some sparkly birthday cutouts on the table and a complementary cannoli. We both enjoyed our lunch sandwiches, and the fun.
The stuffed shells were excellent. The lobster ravioli special was good but consisted of four medium size ravioli for $20. The bread was just so so. We wanted gelato for dessert and they only had pistachio available. He wine was very good. Our food arrives hot and in average time. Our waiter seemed a bit disinterested. After I told him I would want another glass of wine as soon as I finished the first, he never bothered to come back and check. He brought our bill without asking if we wanted to see the dessert menu. Anyway, I would go back if I happened to be in the area but would t make the trip from Durham just for Bella Monica.
I have wanted to try Bella Monica for many years. How wonderful to find that they have stood the test of time and were even more wonderful than I had hoped. My 15-year-old granddaughter, who is very particular about her food, came along and enjoyed her manicotti immensely. What a wonderful authentically Italian meal! So glad we finally tried this superb restaurant!
We are regulars at Bella Monica, but our last visit was below average. We were seated by a loud family with screaming kids but were graciously moved after asking the hostess. Granted - we made reservations a little late that day. Our food took 1.5 hours to arrive. Although we love hanging out, that wait was a little ridiculous, especially for 5:45pm arrival. There was a large party in the back, so perhaps that was the issue. Our waiter was great, so don't think that was the problem. Maybe not enough help in the kitchen? Anyway, we'll be back but just wanted you to know. Thanks!
