About Bella Monica
Bella Monica Cucina & Vino is a family-run trattoria with recipes handed down from our grandparents. Our menu features Neapolitan dishes like gourmet thin-crust pizzas called, Flatbreads, Pasta, Seafood, Chicken, Local Pork & Beef dishes. Our tomato sauce is made just like Nana's. It's so good that we sometimes eat it like soup! Without a doubt, we serve the best cannoli you will ever taste! Our wine list features all Italian, hard-to-find selections that are a perfect match for our Pasta & Flatbreads.
We showcase local art on the walls and play a great upbeat music mix. You can dine al fresco on our patio.

Sundays at our Nana’s house were special days. It began when we entered Nana’s house and the smell of the ‘gravy’ simmering on the stove would greet us at the door. Nana would fly out of the kitchen to pinch our cheeks, give us hugs, and lead us to the table full of food saying “mangia, mangia”. Sundays with Nana were days where everything seemed to stop for family and friends; everything except for pasta. Aunts, uncles and cousins would trickle into Nana’s house throughout the day to take their places at the table. The day never seemed to end as we would sit for hours sharing the food.

Bella Monica Ratings and Reviews
My girlfriend and I had a terrific meal at Bella Monica. Wasn't sure what to expect since I hadn't been in a few years, but the service was excellent and their lasagna was some of the best I've ever had! Try to be seated in the main dining area though or on the patio; we were on the side of a back hallway and the parade of severs and the hostess past the table every 30 minutes was distracting to conversation and enjoying the meal. All in all, definitely recommend!
I tried the chicken balsamico, and really liked it. My husband had his favorite chicken Parmesan. We dined with friends who enjoyed one of the flatbreads and we all sampled the bruschetta. I loved the crab and my husband had the basil and tomato, which he liked a lot. Eating on the patio in the winter months is not optimal, however. This time we sat in the front on the open end—without the plastic sheeting. The heaters work pretty well, but you need warm clothing too.
Every visit is a 5* experience in every way because you can't compete with perfection in the Bella Monica kitchen! Being gluten free has always been an exceptionally challenging ordeal until the Monicas came to town. The baked eggplant parm over polenta is to die for with their sauce that's not acidic or sweet - PERFECTLY in-the-house-made Italian as it should be as all menu items are! Other diners had regular chicken parm and regular eggplant parm both served over spaghetti. Neither offered the other a bite and had nothing to take home. Portions are enough to share and the menu is so diversified that ordering something different every visit is such a gastronomic treat! This is our go-to favorite lunch/dinner Italian spot since 2000 and for great reason. BRAVO and GRAZI!!!
We have been Bella Monica lovers since their opening in 2000 and it's only become more loving as the years pass. It's the BEST AUTHENTIC ITALIAN we've encountered since leaving upstate N.Y. (Albany) 22 years ago! The gluten free menu is an absolute blessing for those of us who suffer from Celiac Disease, and the regular menu is so varied that my spouse tries a different item every time we visit. We've NEVER had a complaint about ANYTHING and we recommend EVERYTHING!
Initially, we did not get off to a great start - we went there especially for my spouse to enjoy the shrimp scampi - there is a new menu, and the scampi was not on the menu - the waitperson, was cordial and accommodating, and the chef was able to provide the requested entree, eventhough it was not on the menu - my wife has a dairy allergy, and while there are excellent gluten free options, dairy free in italian cooking is not an everyday occasion. The manager stopped by as we were eating and assured us that, if they had the ingredients, and the methodology, that they could accommodate the need. A really great meal - our thanks to the waitperson, the chef and the manager - you did exactly what one would expect for customer satisfaction. You might want to add spaghetti, meat balls, and gravy back on the menu, without having to go to both the appetizer menu and the entree menu. We recommend and will be back - too bad they do not have a location in Cary!
Normally we love Bella Monica--it's our go-to Italian restaurant, but our meals the other night were exceptions. Wheat penne pasta--ingredients were good, but wheat pasta, no thanks. Biggest problem was with the salmon. Overcooked, dry, tomatoes shriveled. Looked like it had been under the heating lamp for far too long. Considering how long it takes to get into this place, very disappointing. Hopefully just a one-off and not a change in their operations.
Food was excellent. Portions for some dishes are a little small. Lobster Ravioli was very good but would expect more than 4 small raviolis. I appreciate the value of presentation, but the individual raviolis could have been a little meatier if you are only going to include 4. At the very least, it could have been described as such by the waitress serving a 6' 4' 24 yr old young man.
Waitress was delightful otherwise.
First time at Bella Monica. Unique wine list with what appeared to be 100% Italian wines. They had half glasses of Amorone (expensive wine--so the half glasses made it tryable). Another first. I am thinking this is a restaurant where the customer needs to be willing to experiment. We both liked the flatbreads--great selection of toppings. Bread plate was excellent. I thought the Shrimp Scampi was a little on the dry side and too much garlic for my taste. Very friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. Will go again and try to find our favorites--this time will check out the wine list online.
For the very first time i felt my salad was over priced for what was on the plate . A caprese salad which I’ve had many times there was way too small for 9.99 . Three pieces of dollar size tomatoes with small size mozzarella cheese and four pieces of basil.
I will think twice before I go back and eat that salad.
What a pleasant and delicious surprise! My daughter who lives in Raleigh highly recommended Bella Monica as the place to go for Italian food. I booked a dinner reservation for my husband's birthday. Our family had a wonderful time celebrating his special day together while enjoying the amazing appetizers, entrees and desserts.
Brittani completed the experience with her excellent service!
We’ve been here
Multiple times and everything was great in the
Past. I order the chick parm every time I come and the
Presentation was different this time. The chicken did not appear breaded and the entree had way too much sauce. My wife got the eggplant parm and was not satisfied either. I feel like the food quality has gone down since last time I came. Not sure we’re going to return
