Ok, service lacking professional standards and etiquette. Prob would not go back.
Food was bland. Very expensive to not enjoy!
From the moment we were seated at the table, our server was below par. She knew we were disappointed with our table, as we had requested a river view (not a parking lot view). There were plenty of tables available on the other side where we would have had a river view. She didn't care. She didn't know how to answer any of our questions about the food. She brought out 4 out of the 5 dinners. The other dinner was sufficiently behind which meant the other diners felt the need to wait to eat. She was obviously not trained or poorly trained. Just for your information, the ravioli dish is an extremely small portion for the price of $22.
The food was sub par. The service was terrible. We should have known when 70% of the tables were empty. Waitress couldn’t wait for us to leave. She doesn’t have to worry we won’t be back.
Was celebrating my birthday and had terrible service. Definitely not what I was expecting. Food was good but server was occupied by other tables and hardly paid any attention to us.
We had a reservation for 8:15 PM. We arrived around 8:05PM. They were already closed! Lights off, doors locked, CLOSED. A woman was rolling silverware at the bar and yelled out "We're Closed". We drove across the bridge to enjoy a nice dinner and wasted our time and gas for them to not even be open. They could have called and informed us since we had a reservation, but they didn't. The hours of operation should be updated so this doesn't happen to others. 1st impressions usually warrant a 2nd chance, but we won't be dining here at all. Laziness or incompetence is the only way I can fathom why this occurred and neither of those are good enough excuses that would make me want to come back.
The food was very good. The service was average. There was only 1 server working all the tables inside and out. We were starving as we had been at a Trade Show working all day and asked for bread and the server informed us she wasn’t allowed to bring the bread out until after we ordered and would bring it with dinner. I found this odd and rude at the same time. I want my bread now and before dinner (that is what I was thinking). I ordered Veal Marsala and was told they were out of Veal which I found unacceptable. It wasn’t that late in the evening. Overall, I would go back because the food was good.
The restaurant and location are great. Service was good. Food was terrible, mostly inedible (we are very forgiving diners, and even we couldn’t eat most of it). Some food was clearly spoiled. Only the dessert was made fresh, everything else was just reheated. No bread was served with meal or beforehand. Bill was $100 for three of us after an entree was taken off.
We chose this restaurant because they offered souffles. The chocolate soufflé was okay, though a bit too sweet. They gave you complimentary garlic knots that were swimming in garlic pieces. My son ordered the lobster ravioli and the sauce covering the ravioli was so strong that you couldn’t even taste the ravioli. They allowed him to trade it in for something else and his subbed fried calamari was excellent. I ordered the seafood pasta and I ate only the pasta and sauce as the shrimp had a funky taste and the mussels were mushy. We would not return to this restaurant.
Sat outside, as requested. Great view. Service and food was exceptional.
The fettuccine alfredo was good for the price! It was more than enough to split between myself and my guest. The service was okay, there were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant and they doubled as hostesses. We didn't have to wait very long for our food. Our server did disappear for a little bit of time, but we weren't in a rush. Decently priced for the cuisine and location!
Food was excellent. Service quick and attentive. View spectacular!
The ambience and service was very nice, but the food was poor. It seems like they can’t make up their minds if they want to be an Italian, Spanish, or Middle Eastern restaurant. My husband ordered the Paella, but it was only steamed rice with seafood on top, nothing like Paella. The Calamari was a very small portion and was dry. The Pasta Carbonara was more like a Kraft Macaroni and Cheese pasta with Bacon bits sprinkled in. It’s a shame, because it is a really cute place with a wonderful view.
I agree with other reviews I read which noted the bar noise from next door. It really takes away from the ambiance this restaurant could have.
Fantastic view, easy parking, great walking area across the street.
We wanted to celebrate my wife’s birthday and one of her favorite restaurants is Bella Roma in New Albany. We recently learned that Bella Italia was owned by the same family so we decided to give it a try. We booked a table for 6 on the outside which has a spectacular view of the river. Our waitress welcomed us and informed us that she was the only waitress working. It was her way of saying, be patient, and we were. In the end. she did a great job and we were amazed out how she covered the whole restaurant. The food was very good and what we expected because of our experience with the sister restaurant.
The downside for me, and the reason I may not visit again is the noise from the bar next door is terrible and just about ruined our evening. The outdoor experience of this restaurant is completely ruined by its neighbor. So sad.
To start this off, I must put out there that this restaurant had little COVID protocols in place. We have eaten out at restaurants in Louisville which all had strict COVID protocols in place. It must an Indiana misfortune of medical negligence. We won’t be returning to Indiana for eating out. Had the red pepper soup which was very nice as a starter, husband had stuffed mushrooms which he loved. I wanted the veal marsala which they were out of veal but would have liked to been told that as we were presented with menus instead of having to go over menu again for another choice. Bad hostessing and management IMOP. The wine was ok. We both ordered the seafood with marsala over linguini. It was ok. The shrimp and calamari was overcooked in it and having to pry off the tails of shrimp while getting our fingers filthy With Marsala sauce didn’t sit well with us. The garlic rolls that accompanied the meal were not very garlicky. The size portion of entree was good. We ordered dessert chocolate mousse for hubby which came in the form of cheesecake like consistency and form, way to heavy to be called a mousse. Someone there needs to look up the definition of mousse. I put in for grand mariner soufflé when we put in our appetizer orders as requested on menu for enough time to make. When my soufflé came out it looked good, when spooning into it the top and sides were edible but the rest was way undercooked. I had to send back. They apologized and took it off our bill. Needless to say we won’t return.
4 of us recently went to Bella Italia for a Saturday early evening dinner. We had a reservation and were promptly seated inside upon arrival (we gave up our outside dining so that another group without a reservation could be seated). This was during the Covid-19 craziness! The menu had a variety of Mediterranean dishes (Italian as well as Greek /Lebanese.) We ordered Baba Ghanoush as an appetizer - it was tasty and came with soft pita bread. Plenty for the 4 of us. Between us we had Lasagna, Chicken Marsala, and then 2 of us had the Eggplant Rollantini - breaded eggplant wrapped around soft cheese. All of us agreed we had excellent dishes. We also shared 2 greek salads. There was enough of my greek salad to take home for seconds, and the same with the Eggplant Rollantini and lasagna dishes. My husband consumed ALL of the chicken marsala! We also had dessert, Tiramisu and Cheesecake. Both were excellent. The Tiramisu was made at Bella Italia as was the cheesecake. Excellent flavor for both. We all agreed we would return to try more of the dishes!
We love the food and the excellent service. This restaurant never disappoints,
We started going to Bella Italia at least once every two weeks. It's a little out of the way for us, but it's always worth the trip. We originally started going here for the great pizza and we've expanded into the Italian entrees.
You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and our favorite server is Richa, but all of the staff there is good.
Give this family run establishment a try, you won't regret it!
Great river view. Food was great.
They are following CDC guidelines.
Diamond in the rough in terms of food quality and ambience. Will certainly revisit. The lobster ravioli was very good and the Caesar salad was large enough for two. Great spot for a date.
Some hiccups with service but would try again because of the food/location.
Second visit great experience both times excellent food and service and great view
Just dinner with the family and it was incredible!
Went for Valentine's night, it was a smaller menu which was disappointing. The service was great. The atmosphere and view are very nice. Our dinner was good but didnt match the price we paid for it.
Was very disappointed with Bella Italia. I chose this restaurant for my husband and I to go to Valentines dinner specifically for gluten free options and a new place to try. They did not disclose that they had a limited menu for Valentine’s Day that only had 4 options, none of which I could eat. We left and could not get seated anywhere else, so our evening was ruined. Wish I could have tried the food.
Highly understaffed and undertrained.
Nice restaurant.. Good atmosphere... However, they changed their menu which was a definite turn off. If we would have known, we probably would have went elsewhere. The food was good though considering.
Was under the impression that it would be the entire menu. When table was RSVPd there was no mention of a select menu.
Also very drafty near windows makes for unpleasant meal when it is chilly out.
We went without refills and being checked on most of the meal.
The amount of food for a $25 entree was a disgrace. 5 lobster ravioli... you have got to be kidding!
Food did taste good just wished you received more and was attended too more.
Ambiance was very nice. A small cozy place with live music on the Saturday we were there. Our server was great. Food was great. 4 ppl had fettuccini Alfredo and one had spaghetti with meatballs. I had chicken kebabs and all were really good. Everyone cleaned their plate. We will return.
I was disappointed in the food's taste. I am Italian and it lacked flavor. I had the
Lobster ravioli and did not taste anything in the ravioli, it was bland mush. The sauce was better. My boyfriend had the marsala and it didn't taste fresh at all. Sorry to say, I would not recommend this restaurant.
Awesome as always! A family feel restaurant that everyone can enjoy. Great food an ambiance.
We were visiting from out of town & looking for something new to try. There was only one server, but she did the best she puked under the circumstances! We will definitely go back!
I wish I could leave a review but the restaurant wouldn't honor our reservation that was made online through OpenTable. We received a confirmation and everything. Our family showed up and were told that the owner/manager requested to "turn off" online reservations and apparently they never followed-through to verify that was the case. When I requested to speak to said owner/manager, they said they were not available. The hostess offered nothing but, "I'm sorry" There was literally no where to consider as it was New Year's Eve and without a reservation, we weren't getting in anywhere. It left our family in a bad position for something to eat. Perhaps the owner/manager should've been more aware of whether or not their request to not accept reservations online was actually confirmed in order to avoid a mishap like we experienced. They've offered NOTHING to try and make it right, either. At this point, we wouldn't even consider visiting again due to their lack on customer service and ability to manage their business with regard to reservations!
The food was very good and the ambiance was great. My veal parm was delicious and beautiful night time view of downtown Louisville!
The service has much to be desired! The waitress acted as if she wanted to be anywhere else , but there. She took forever to approach our table to take our order. Needless, it was very busy and was inexcusable. She didnt explain the nenu well and didnt offer any recommendations. Low level and energy. Didnt follow up after she served the food and didnt offer to refill our water.
I know this place is better than this , as this was my 2nd visit. If it was my first time, I would not go back and would not recommend. Disappointing!
My favorite food is Lasagne so I rate every Italian restaurant by that and it was excellent. It is now my favorite place to get it. My husband had Chicken Marsala that was very good and chicken was tender. My sons had Alfredo with chicken. Was also very good. Their bread is the best. Not salty breadsticks but round soft inside, crispy outside with very good spices and served with marinara sauce. So good we asked for another round! It will be my go to for now on!
All 4 of our party ordered different meals and liked each and every one
Food was very good. Served hot and very pleasantly appealing. The server was pleasant and interacted with everyone in our party. The only complaint was the food was a little overpriced on some items.
Food was very good but expensive for type of food. Pasta dish was $19, but salad an extra $8
Garlic knots are great
Caprese salad rocks
Entrees to die for are baked ziti and Carbonara
