Bella Costa Ratings and Reviews
I like restaurants to be punctual ... especially when you've booked your reservation a week or more in advance. We were seated possibly 15 minutes late, which isn't that bad considering we got a place at the bar and had fun listening to the piano music. It was packed being it was Valentine's Day, but then we ordered fried calamari for appetizer and we did not get anything until 8 p.m. We were both starving, by this time. We did get some bread & oil earlier, but I did not want to get full on bread. So by the time our entree came, we were full from eating bread since everything came so late. If you go here, make sure you eat an hour before going or you will be too hungry waiting for your meal. The seafood rissotto was very good and their calamari. We just wished we could have eaten it soon after the time I made for dinner which was 7:15 p.m.
This was our second visit to Bella Costa.
It is pretty equidistant from western MA and Cape Cod.....and hence, a good meeting place for old friends. The food is well prepared and quite delicious. The small plates are an excellent value....and very plentiful.
Bella Costa is indeed a hidden gem. Don't let the strip mall location deter you!!
Service was friendly. There seemed to be a lot of regulars and they were greeted by name and asked how family was doing, etc. The crowd was an interesting mix of people who seemed to be mostly from the local area. A bit loud but we could still hear the live piano. The fried mozzarella was mozzarella sticks. My eggplant parm was extremely average. I think my husband liked his seafood dish but his bananas foster was covered in extremely strong alcohol which did not burn off all the way. He had to eat around it.
The restaurant was very busy, they did their best to get us in on time, but we had to wait about 20 minutes. They comped us two appetizers, which they didn’t need to do, but it was of course appreciated. The mussels app was great as was the calamari. Entrees were good, all the pasta great, but the paperdelle was a tad over done. All in all a nice evening and we will be back to Bella Costa
We reserved a table for two at 5PM Saturday using OpenTable. When we arrived at restaurant the gentleman at the front desk was on a lengthy phone conversation telling the caller that "they" couldn't be seated until 8:15 PM, but could be seated away from the piano in the quieter rear room. When the phone call ended we announced ourselves and the reservation. We were led to a table adjacent to the piano, directly across from the front desk and the drafty entry. We asked for a different table and were accomodated in the rear room which was otherwise empty except for one table. While I was washing up, my wife, alone at the table, was questioned by the desk gentleman as to whether we really had a reservation. The waitress was polite and efficient. The Cioppino was not exceptional (the sauce was apparently added to separately precooked pasta and sea food, as it didn't fully cover either). We won't return.
We have eaten here many times, the food is always excellent as is the service.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the area, and I recommend it strongly!
In addition, the serving is quite large, always enough for lunch, the next day.
The employees are quite amiable.
We went here for dinner with a couple of friends. The food was all very good and came out at a good pace. The bar was a little slow, but it was a Friday night so the bartender must have been busy. We all got different food (pasta, steak, chicken) and all enjoyed our meals. I had a veal dish with handmade pasta which I really enjoyed. They sold us with the dessert tray, we couldn't say no.
It was very warm in the dining room but that was probably because it was unseasonably warm outside and it is difficult to control the temperature with the random New England weather. The parking lot is kind of a nightmare. Thats the only thing that truly annoyed me and my friends.
We will be back to try other menu items because we had a hard time choosing and they have a good variety.
We've been to Bella Costa a few times and it never disappoints. The service is always excellent and the food delicious. The small plates offer a great value (with fewer leftovers), though the full entrees are reasonable too. Two of us ordered steak salad with medium rare steak and it was done to perfection. Our waitress steered us to a delicious (and - again - reasonably priced) house wine. She was attentive without hovering. The restaurant was busy but still quiet enough to have a wonderful conversation with our friends.
Also - we very much appreciated being seated right away when two of the four of us arrived 15 minutes before our reservation.
Finally, I have a soft spot for Bella Costa: on my first visit, my wallet fell out of my purse and I didn't notice till the next morning. I called Bella Costa in a panic, although it was long before their opening time. A kind person answered and reassured me that the wallet was there and I could pick it up on my way to work. They refused the tip I was more than willing to give them.
We were surprised at how good this place was. It’s tucked away in a strip mall in Framingham but the food was very good classic Italian. The service was good and it’s a cozy place. Basic good old Italian fare. The special house chicken dish was very good and portions were perfect.
Annoying server interrupted our conversation several times for a drink order. She was incapable of observing that we were in the middle of a discussion and didn't wish to be asked if we would like drinks three times in six minutes.
The calamari was far too salty, a couple of bites and we couldn't tolerate any more. The homemade pasta was quite good, but it and the veal that it was served with were drenched in a tomato sauce that tasted like it was poured straight from a six gallon drum of industrial food service sauce. It was terribly acidic and bad tasting. It makes no sense to go to the trouble of making homemade pasta only to serve it with something so inferior. My son (who devours everything) pulled the leftovers from my refrigerator, took a couple of bites and declared it the worst sauce he's ever had. (I feel it's my duty here to disclose that I am Italian.)
There were several wines available by the glass, which is nice. The room was pleasant and warm, with live piano music.
Met some friends for dinner. Loved the seared scallops on yellow beets. Veal saltimbooca was delicious, although I could not finish I enjoyed it the next day for lunch. Very relaxed atmosphere. We did not feel rushed at all. Staff was very attentive and personable. Will definitely go back.
The piccata was not good. The sauce was really thick and goopy vs creamy or wine based with lemon. The sauce was in the consistency of pudding. They should really look at how this is prepared. The Oreo dessert was yummy. The kid's pasta was very little/skimpy for the price. Noodle are cheap and so were the portions.
They sat us right next to the door and it was freezing for our entire meal. There were plenty of other seats that were open.
Service was ine.
