Very mediocre food. Ordered shaved brussel sprout and kale salad and caesar salads and both were made with Kale, very little dressing and lacking other ingredients mentioned on the menu.
Salad Nicoise was below expectations with 2 slabs of cold tuna steak on a few leaves of lettuce and boiled potatoes.
No bread was served , then after repeated requests it was brought at the end of the meal.Inattentive service throughout.
A very ordinary lunch in a place that normally does better than that.
there is so many great restaurants in NYC, this one is NOT one of them. Food is mediocre. Beer is fine, but it's from Belgium, not NYC. I took my Swedish friend there for lunch and I was embarrassed.
Will never go back
P.S. Oh, and the bathrooms are awful! Shame!
We were so thrilled to find a restaurant that could accommodate a large group for my birthday (14 adults, 2 kids), but after dining there, it was clear why the place was empty: while the waitress we had was nice, the one of the servers did not look happy to be there serving us coffee. To add to that, even though I mentioned in my reservation that this was for a birthday, and that we would likely need a few separate checks, no one called to confirm anything or tell us that 1) having a cake would incur a $3 per person charge (even if we were providing the cake and doing the cutting ourselves) and 2) separate checks was apparently "impossible." The owner was not very friendly or accommodating, and blamed his staff for confirming that we could do separate checks when they really couldn't (which is ridiculous, considering today's technology and the fact that they utilize the same system that other restaurants use--that CAN separate the checks). The food was decent but well overpriced considering the quality and the service, so I will most definitely not be back.
What a great place! I reserved a table for a party. Everyone we met at the restaurant was so kind, helpful and gracious. The food was amazing as well. I would definitely recommend the Brussel sprouts and the beef stew. They also have an amazing selection of beers. All of my friends raves about how great the good was and how nice our server, hostess and manager were. I will definitely go back.
I was very disappointed that the Belgian Beer Café NoMad discontinued serving oysters. Not just happy hour $1 oysters but no longer is serving oysters at all. The food is quite good and the beer selection is wonderful.
Loved the waffles!
It was really nice. But the bathroom was in not good condition.
We had a nice dinner here!
Very very slow service. When we mentioned that we had been waiting for our food for 45 minutes, one of the managers told us it was only about 30 minutes. Awesome. We stand corrected.
Second time her and both times a delight. Very friendly attentive service. Beer, of course, is great but so too is the food. The burgers are enormous. The pork chop was wonderful. Splitting a couple desserts made for a treat. Would be good for business and a large party but very nice for our table of four.
Service was inattentive. Saturday night and one waitress for entire floor. Our order got screwed up. No apologies or care.
Brought a client there for lunch and service was not good at all - food was mediocre with exception of desserts.
I love the place. Food is high quality, service friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is unique but comfortable.
Very quiet on a recent Saturday night. Food was delicious. We tried 2 different cocktails and they were both great. Beer and sliders ap was yummy.
Have been to the Belgian Beer Café NoMad several times and really enjoy the food, oysters, beer and service. Plan to go back many times.
Found this to be a great place in Flat Iron district. Will definitely come back for dinner, beer menu, etc.
Burger was very good, the fries were over salted. Overall good for a quick bite.
My husband, son and I came for brunch yesterday. The décor is nice with touches of old-world and new. The best thing we had was the moules with a spicy Red Duvel and blue cheese broth. My husband had the waffles with fried chicken. The chicken was well seasoned and crisp but the waffle was a disappointment - it wasn't crisp and was bland. Perhaps the chicken should not be placed on top of it to keep it crisp.
The place looks great, they screwed up Mussels and it is a Belgum Cafe. other dishes were not what we ordered either.
During summer tourists season, they completely try to rip you off. Their food was ok, but the portion is only HALF of what they normally serve during off seasons, I know because I live in the neighborhood. And they try to up charge you with added items and even billed more then the menu price on some items. ALWAYS make sure you check your bill or you will pay more for sure. Services were terrible and slow.
We loved the place. Great service and the food was fabulous. We have particular needs in our food prep and the staff was very open and helpful. And we had the best moules in NY! We will definitely return.
Amazing beer menu and way above average bar food with a great atmosphere. The crispy Brussels Sprouts should be licensed as a narcotic!
Promptly seated. Service a little slow but good when provided. Food was great and overall a good experience and good value.
Great mussels! So flavorful. Goes awesome with their stellar beer list.
Table way in the rear close to bathrooms and music was way too loud and we had to scream at each other.
Food ok, service not very attentive.
Most annoying thing was loud and thumping disco music inns Belgian bistro. How about some French music played at a level so that adults can have a conversation???
Burger + beer!
Great location, great ambiance but the food was underwhelming. Tuna was overcooked, Mussels and fries were just okay. The service was excellent though and they tried to make up for it with free desserts.
Excellent service and delicious brunch menu
Very nice service and decent food on a rainy day.
We have eaten here several times-- and after work end of the week can be crazy busy at the bar.
Later in the evening is a bit more normal -- busy but diners, not bar patrons.
This visit was a Monday evening and it was relatively quiet- so easy to chat along and great service.
Despite it being Monday the owner/manager was present, and service was attentive. Great beer selection and approachable wine offerings for the non beer folk.
Our endive/ apple/ walnut salad was fresh and lovely, one tiny oops. No apple. Forgotten! We didn't complain- felt we couldn't after eating the endive and nuts.
We nearly always order the carbonade ( flemish beef/ ale stew) and they do it up wonderfully here. Rich stew, well prepared and a nice Belgium treat in Manhattan.
Awful service and food. Won’t go back.
We met up with another couple to grab a bite before seeing some live music and this was the perfect meeting spot. Great beer menu, great service, great food. Great space too with large windows and an open concept. Nice looking no bar with plenty of seats. Only issue that I had was the bar tender I had did not seem to know the beer I selected by name (a Belgian beer) and could not tell me anything about the Cabernet I was ordering for my wife. For almost 30$ for the round, was I wrong to expect this?
a wonderful addtion to the belgian food scene in NYC
It was a great way to start our Sunday. Everyone’s breakfast was perfect.
Great Place, excellent food just the service was a breeze t off and showed very little interest in serving a group of 8 people
When asked for beer recommendations, the waiter consistently recommended the most expensive choices. When mine arrived in a glass with a crack in it, he was nowhere to be found.
Good burgers and brunch. Mussels were awesome. Nice place.
the pretzel is amazing, the waiters are generally good, friendly and attentive. location is good for me. It's missing the polish that Markt had, but its good and especially chill off hours (3-5PM)
Having lived in Brussels for six years I can easily vouch that the Belgian Beer Cafe offers authentic Belgian cuisine and beer.
Very busy which slowed service. Menu had a great selection. Service was good, the wait and bus staff were hustling to keep up with business.
For a starter I went with the onion soup. It’s was okay. Not bad but really just average. I had the wild salmon which was amazingly good. Don’t forget to order sides. For dessert I had chocolate cake. It was sooooo good!
Overall a great start to a night out!
