This was rated pretty high so we wanted to give it a try. We were doing steak and got a large bone in ribeye and ordered it medium well. We waited about an hour for it to come out when it did it was presliced and was cooked medium rare. I told the server right away and we worked out to just send part of it back since I actually don't mind the rareness. However, when I took the first bite the steak was pretty much room temperature. Since it was presliced it only took a few minutes to have the slices back to the table. It came with brussel sprouts that were hot but we're severely undercooked. Also came with mashed potatoes were good and added a little warmth to the steak while eating so I guess the potatoes were the best part. I later heard several good comments about the resturant so maybe my incident was isolated. Would have been more consoling however if the floor manager would have seem to care a little. 2/23/18
Made reservations for lunch for two and a dog, notified once we arrived that I should not have made reservations and outside seating was first come first serve. Luckily the hostess found a table for us. Once we were seated we were completely ignored by the wait staff around us; after 15 minutes and we didn’t even have water. I approached the hostess about our lack of a waiter. She said he was attending to a large party. Another waiter did bring us drinks and menus, but still we waited. After being at the restaurant for 50 min. With only water to show for it, I asked for the manager. We did get food with to go boxes and the manager did cut the bill in half but I was sad about our experience as this was a mother daughter vacation and our first visit to Savannah.
Amazing brunch hands down! Normally, I frequent Crystals or B Mathews that are staples in Savanah but, it was the day after St. Patty's and there wasn't too many places that weren't booked. I came across Belford's on open table not realizing it was right in front of the candy shop in City Market. Needless to say the service was top notch, the relaxing view was great, and most of all it was the best brunch we had in a long time. The chicken and waffles with gravy were superb. My boyfriend got the pork belly and eggs with grits, he's not a fan of grits but once he tried those he thought they were the tasty grits he has ever tried. There was the right amount of spices and tangy sweet flavors to complement the southern fried food that brought it all together. Highly recommend!
Usually love Belford’s, however this was ridiculous. They sat us because we had a reservation waited thirty minutes and no one saw us. Got up to get someone over to our table and they brought us water and then did not come back after 15 additional minutes we decided to leave. Tables were empty everywhere and after walked out and spoke to hostess she said they were out of most of their food. Why sit us if you can’t serve us, we would have much more understanding.
Had dinner on St. Patty’s Day in the midst of 500,000 enthusiastic party participants & our reservation was upheld, the restaurant was in order & we did not feel affected at all. The staff was pleasant & accommodating.
Fantastic food! Excellent service! Fun atmosphere
We went for brunch that they didn’t have. Our meals were more like appetizers and every single piece of flatware, plate ware, and service ware we had was dirty. Disappointing overall.
Outstanding server, huge portions, delicious food, and the bread was awesome! (I’m not a big bread eater, and we ate two loaves)!
The service was very good. The food was tasty but over priced. My husband ordered their 14oz ribeye for $46. I was appalled with the price to meat ratio. I had their duck, which was good but a little undercooked and very big pieces.
We went for our 14th anniversary. We were seated quickly and greeted in a friendly manner. That's where the positives end. Once seated we waited 15 minutes for our bread, our drinks were often empty. If that wasn't bad enough it got worse. My husband ordered the Salmon with Shrimp and I ordered a Ribeye Steak barely well (just past med well, not quite fully well). While I know my request can confuse some chefs a good chef should have no issue. When our food came I cut into my steak to find it bloody. This was a good medium steak. We advised them of it not being done and asked to make sure it didn't have pink. When it was brought to me again (my husband is done eating, don't want his to get cold) it was still all pink inside and bloody when you cut into it. At this point we asked for the check and left. You would think a restaurant of this caliber would have a chef that can cook a well done steak. I recommend going elsewhere.
We had the she crab soup and crab cakes. The soup was rich and delicious, and the crab cake was the best I have ever had! Our waitress was polite and helpful with ordering, and also very personable. Thanks for a great experience!
Food was fabulous! Try the 'BLT'...She crab soup...and the Crab cakes. Wonderful!
We picked this restaurant because it was close to our hotel on a rainy night and were happily surprised at how good it was for a tourist heavy area. My GF needs were addressed well and I was thrilled with the GF options, including she crab soup, which is not been able to try elsewhere. The red snapper with homemade sweet potato hash was a great dish. Husband loved both the seafood chowder and seafood linguini. Service was a little slow for a Sunday evening without much of a crowd, but that is my only criticism.
Very good restaurant. Loved the ambience. I would eat there again.
Don't understand the very few less than positive reviews. The food was exception, the baby kale salad with bourbon infused peaches and pecans was wonderful, the BLT stacker was very creative in taste and presentation, and the red snapper was amazing. Everything was perfectly seasoned and prepared. Our waiter, Josh, was funny and very attentive and responsive to all our needs. I almost forgot to mention the peach cobbler, a perfect ending to the evening.
Great experience. Our waiter was just amazing. Food really great. Red snapper was amazing...
I always get treated well here on my night out by myself. However, this time was a bit different. I dine alone, and I felt maybe I was a little bit dismissed. There were a lot of larger parties, so maybe it was just busy. I certainly didn’t get the same amount of attention as previous visits. Also, please PLEASE add more seasoning to your steak that is costing me nearly $50! They’re always cooked well, but a little more salt would go a long way. I was going to stay for dessert originally, but chose to leave due to the circumstances. I will return. I hope it’s better next time, as this is the place I come every time for my “me” night out. Food is always delicious.
We were in town to visit SCAD and looked for a nice restaurant and thought we would try Belford based on their menu and reviews. We were not disappointed at all!!! Stephen was our server and he was fantastic! The food was absolutely deliscious and the atmosphere was very comfortable and very fun! We will definitely visit again the next time we are in Savannah!
Our service and dinner was excellent, the ambiance of this restaurant is fantastic with the history behind it. I was a little disappointed that my reservation was not there but they were very accommodating for our dinner.
Food was excellent along with great service. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful
Waiter was over booked and unresponsive. Food was uninspired and the meal was nearly $300 for not much. But the service in general killed the vibe.
Great Food! Excellent Staff!
The food itself was good, one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had. We were rushed through the entire meal, though. We were still enjoying our appetizers when the server told us our entrees would be out shortly. We asked not to be rushed but weren't heard as our plates arrived much too soon. Our over-present server was too busy sharing personal anecdotal stories anyway to bring the correct order in the first place. (There were only two of us at the table with a simple, uncomplicated order with no special requests.) Told us he "picked up the wrong plate" but he clearly entered the wrong order in the first place as it took rather a while to recover. (Ten minutes maybe?)
We were also visited by two other individuals during the meal. A host and a cook both asked if everything was alright. I had no plate in front of me when the cook stopped by while my boyfriend did. The cook would have continued to breeze by had I not actually spoken up to mention my missing entree. The "visits" to the table were excessive and seemingly just a formality. We went to dinner together to enjoy each other's company but it was more of a front-row seat to a circus.
Food was great, service was excellent, atmosphere very good, our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable of menu and wines!
My husband and I took a trip to Savannah and we love it.We triedBelford and loved everything about it. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. I loved the decor and the romantic atmosphere.
We will probably be back in Savannah in the future and we would come back for dinner ag
Nice dinner, great crab cakes. Service was good, protein good size but the side portions were light. Reasonable prices for nice wines- recommend the French Chablis.
I had the crab cakes and my husband had the filet. We also shared the fried green tomato stack. Everything was fabulous, food, service, etc.
Bad experience! The steak was good, but all seafood entrees were too spicy (3 entrees of 4 at table). It was so noisy you could not talk! The bill at the end was so badly botched that a manager had to sort it out and that took 10 min! No offer of any compensation like a drink or dessert! Would not recommend!
The food was excellent. I had the crab cakes and my husband had the pork rib eye. Everything was cooked to perfection. We sat outside which was nice. Our server was not great. He got the order right but was missing a lot of the time. We ordered a bottle of wine and it took awhile to get to the table. I used to work in a restaurant and that could have been the bartenders fault but we had 6:15 reservations and they definitely weren't busy. I would eat here again and just hope we got a better server.
Great food, great service, right amount of staff interaction; highly recommend it!
Our server was wonderful and the food was phenomenal! Highly recommend!
Loved this restaurant, great atmosphere amazing food. The crab cakes were world class and the Steaks just incredible cook perfectly and distinct aged beef flavor. Amazing
Brunch with the Grandkids:
We had the brunch menu, Excellent. Braised Pork Belly with eggs and grits; Chicken and waffles with sausage gravy; Bacon and gouda omelet with Gouda Grits. Our waiter was excellent, particularly with the added burden of training a new waiter. Also, don't miss ordering off the regular menu as well
Excellent brunch atmosphere and dining, highly recommend
The atmosphere and food is good here. My only suggestion would be to put salt on the vegetables. There wasn't an ounce of seasoning on the spinach, brussel sprouts or haricot verts.
When I first arrived I was greeted by a hostess and the manager on duty. We were promptly escorted to a table. Received menus quickly. Appetizer was great- we had the BLT stack. Dinner was good, the cut of meat was excellent. On the way out the manager remembered it was my birthday & told me to enjoy my night- this is definitely the best choice for a steak while downtown!
We loved the Savannah charm and the food was exceptional.
The location in the heart of the historic district and its comfortable outdoor seating space means that visitors of all descriptions will often fill its seats, but Belford's has not allowed these assets to lower their standards or permit the presentation of mediocre fare to a captive audience. The Savannah dining standard is high. The Belford offering is more than competent.
The food is amazing and the service was great! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone looking for a great meal and romantic evening for 2!
The valentines menu was excellent, with options for every pallet. I enjoyed the filet and lobster, while my fiancé had the crab stuffed salmon. Due to the special occasion, the noise level was a little above quiet but was not an issue.
