Belford's Savannah Ratings and Reviews
Me and My husband was on a tour earlier in the day, and the tour guide suggested Belfords for dinner. We were so glad we listened to the tour guide. Reservations were easy to make and later that night we celebrated our 20th anniversary there. Awesome service, ambiance, and food.
On a trip to Savannah for the holiday. We were looking for light lunch and cocktails. Didn’t even think that at 6:30 every where we wanted to go would have a 30/40 minute wait for the lounge. Put our name in at a casual dining place with a 20 minute wait
Took a moment to look at OpenTable ... saw Belford’s could take us immediately!
Best decision ever! Damian, our server, put us at ease. Drinks in hand we ordered our light bites! The food was so good we ended up ordering entrees and desserts too!
It was a wonderful evening! We were thrilled with how our entire evening worked out
We were inside and there was a dog on in the table right behind me practically eating off the owners plate. The hostess wore clothes too small, her belly was hanging out of her shirt over her pants and her cell phone was falling out of her front pocket. The service was incredibly slow. For a place that is so expensive, one would expect better atmosphere.
The preparation of the food here is top notch. My whole table had the kale + bourbon peach salad, with the award winning appetizer crab cake for lunch, and were not let down. The crab cake definitely ranks as one of the best I have ever had - big chucks of crab, not overpowered by salt or seasoning. Really excellent.
The restaurant and food was terrific. We unfortunately arrived right after the brunch rash which slows down the service someone. Our waiter was still very gracious and try to expedite our meal and the best way he could. Definitely would return! Dog friendly and that gets five stars.
I ordered the house specialty, scallops. Small plate with only two. One was cooked properly and the other was not. They brought back the same scallops only slightly browner but still raw inside. Fried green tomatoes were good, as were the crab cakes and the shrimp with pasta. Staff seemed inexperienced but competent. Overall I expected more based upon website hype. Rather "touristy". Not Fine Dining as stated.
Disappointing dinner. Service was expected, but for a steakhouse, the steak was blah— I could make a better steak at home. Not seared enough. And my friends pork dish was raw in the middle—yes I said pork. Considering the price, I expected better.
If you can’t make great steak, you have no business calling yourself a steakhouse.
Unfortunately this visit didn’t live up to our last visit a month ago. Last month we would have given it 5 stars across the board. We took our family for what we described as the best filet mignon they’ll ever experience. So our group ordered 6, two medium and 4 medium rare. The two mediums were done correctly but the four medium rares were either well done or medium well so we sent them back. The second attempt resulted in 3 rare and one that was literally raw (or Pittsburgh if you prefer). Sadly we won’t be going back anytime soon. So disappointed after our anniversary date the month prior.
It was my birthday and my husband wanted to treat me to a nice night out while we were visiting Savannah. He discreetly asked the hostess when I went to the ladies room if they were able to do anything special for my birthday, like bringing dessert with a candle. He was assured that even though they typically don't do that, they would make sure it happened. It didn't. He was rather upset even though I told him it was not that big of a deal to me. If we are back next year, he will be taking me to Ruth's Chris instead. I still enjoyed my meal and I thought our server was excellent.
We were a party of 4. Two were celebrating birthdays. Everyone had some kind of steak. The dinners were quality steaks & excellent but my fillet mignon was served cool. But, everyone enjoyed their dinner.
However, I was disappointed that a dessert was not presented as a bday wish.
Our server was pleasant and did not rush us as we requested.
My wife and I went to Belford's for my 40th birthday dinner. We had a reservation. When we arrived (on a Monday evening), the restaurant had a decent crowd but open tables. We were taken to one and stood as the hostess cleared it while we waited. Several servers passed by and after about 10 minutes, one finally stopped to ask if we'd been helped. We had not. He said he would be back and returned a few min later to get a drink order. She had water and I ordered a beer. about 15 min later, he returned (I could see the bar from our table and it was not super crowded either.) He began to pour the beer, walked off with it and then returned to joke about the foam. I asked him to just set it down. He left and returned a few minutes later to bring a plate of bread (which was cold) and take our order. He thanked us for our patience but mine had already worn thin. 45 min after being seating, we had our grilled romaine salad appetizer and asked for another bread plate. It never arrived. Soon after, our entrees arrived. Reordered drinks and it arrived about 15 min later. We were almost finished eating. The food was delicious but for the prices (over $100 for two of us), I expected better service. No member of management ever came to greet us, ask us how everything was, nothing. Our waiter kept saying they were short staffed with a large crowd. While there were many occupied tables, there seemed to be plenty of servers. However, I believe that if this were the case, a manager should've known this and offered his own apology. (In such a restaurant, I think management greeting is customary anyway, or should be.) The ambiance and location were great and the food was very good. I hoped for better service. I would still recommend Belfords for the location, ambiance and food. Hopefully we just came on an off night.
This place has potential but we were very disappointed in our experience... I indicated that this was my girlfriends birthday but the staff did nothing to acknowledge this occasion. The waiter was very nice but too busy to get us drinks. We went to the bar to get our drinks.
Overall I would not recommend this place.... The food was okay but the service was inferior. Service is key when going out!
