Sat outside for Sunday brunch. Good food, great service.
Steak Frites exceeded expectations. The 7 leaves of lettuce for $8 was a little disappointing. We took a carrot cake to go and that was outstanding. Definitely will be back.
We arrived early and were seated in the back where it was quieter. We started with the Duck Confit Poutine.
All had Steak Frites cooked to various states of done. Roger L, our server, was excellent in serving and in wine recommendations. One of us had the duck fat fries, another the beef tallow. The others had regular fries. The guys preferred the duck fat; the ladies the regular.
Two had ice cream deserts,one with a candle of course; the others had the carrot cake and the strawberry short cake.
It was a marvelous dining experience.
My service was exceptional, from the hostess to the waitress to the bussers!
Sadly, the worst part of the experience is their speciality. My wife and son’s chicken were desert dry, the lamb skewers had more fat than meat and my Keto salad came in “first” with good not great steak (cooked well, generous portion, somewhat flavorful) and the rest lettuce, with a couple of tomatoes and small mozzarella balls. The drinks are great, the service was very good and t he ambience was also very good, but when the main product is substandard-especially at the high cost - well, hence my low rating.
The Steak Frites was a simple plate of mediocre (at pre-cut - what am I, 6-years old?) rib eye, and undistinguished fries didn't add up. Expectation are high for a meat-centric kitchen. You've got to do better than that to get me to return.

Made a reservation and arrived at 8:00pm was told by the hostess that they only had 1 server for the entire restaurant and that she was currently waiting on a table of 15 and training someone else at the same time so it would be an additional 45 minute wait. We then were seated outside at a dirty table.. This restaurant is poorly managed and the service is terrible.
Manager came to the table and wanted to see our reservation and then stated because it wasn’t made prior to 12pm that they were not obligated to accommodate the reservation...
I thought the point of opentable was to make a reservation/call ahead for time spots that the restaurant shows that they have open seats available?!? We made our reservation over an hour prior to when we arrived, I don’t understand why there is a problem if they are showing and confirming that they have availability... The manager even stated that he should not have allowed reservations for the day due to staffing.. WONT BE BACK

The 4 of us enjoyed our fabulous lunch. I told them how delicious the lamb burgers are and I have one every time I dine. We all had lamb burgers and everyone was pleased. The goat fat fries were also a winner

Great spot in JLS for brunch and breakfast. Not for vegans or vegetarians, as this place is focused on delivering quality meat products from their ranch in Marin. I'll be back, and I would recommend to those looking for a nice spot in Oakland - Jack London.
The usual great food and setting.
Our server was spread thin and slow to take our orders, deliver good. Main meals came out luke warm and things like extra bread and second drinks were forgotten. All in all the food was “ok” found the meats to be very fatty and tepid. Salad lacked spark and was served with meals not before. Definitely not good for a birthday celebration. Would not recommend.

The food is outstanding and the service continues to be even better.
Waitstaff was inattentive. We watched our waiter tend to silverware while waiting for over a 1/2 hour to order in a near empty house.

My husband is a meat eater and said that the tallow NY was the best steak he had ever eaten. Service was good and food was outstanding. Parmesean Chicken was tender and very tasty. Bac MacN Cheese was delicious. Definitely a place to revisit.

Really enjoyed taking time with friends.
We had a birthday dinner outside on the patio Sunday. The meal was delicious & if my husband hadn’t picked out the most expensive steak from the butcher shop, the bill would have been more reasonable. We got what we paid for & had a lovely night. (Next time we’ll try happy hour, when the burger is 1/2 price, just to offset Sunday’s expenditure.) Our waitstaff was attentive & friendly. Great location & they validate garage parking. Will definitely gladly go again.

I have eaten at Belcampo in Larkspur quite a few times and was excited when they opened in Jack London Square in Oakland. I have now eaten at the Oakland location a few times and have brought numerous friends there. It is a great space in a great location. I like that there's a good butcher shop right on Jack London Square. The food is generally good. Good salads, burgers, breakfast entres, and the duck confit poutine is a favorite. For these reasons, I will continue to refer others to try this restaurant.
On my most recent visit, I had friends visiting from out of town meet me there because they requested a steak dinner. We ordered the Butcher's Dinner. Selected our cut of meet and asked that it be prepared medium. The restaurant was not busy but it took an eternity for our food to arrive, even our salads! When the meat arrived, it was charred black on the outside and cooked almost well done. We were disappointed that the preparation had spoiled a great cut of meat for which we paid a premium plus the per person fee. It also was not a night of great service from their wait staff. I understand that anyone can have an off day, but we waited forever for drinks. When we finally received our food bus staff started coming by to ask if they could remove our plates and other staff were bustling around us preparing to close the restaurant. We arrived between 7:30 and 8. Though it took awhile to order and a long time to get our food. So, it was a pricey, unsatisfying experience. We left convinced not to return for awhile and feeling that Belcampo would not be a good choice for steak.

Delicious food, ambiance and wonderful happy hour option...highly recommend the Belcampo burger...juicy, flavorful along with the yummy fries!

Brunch was great. The service was wonderful, both the staff that took the orders and those that brought it out. I took one star because the drip coffee was overpriced- it was delicious, just overpriced. The entrees and dessert are fairly priced. I had the steak and eggs- totally worth the price. I had them remove the Hollandaise sauce because I do not like Hollandaise, but I sampled my wife's and it is a very good Hollandaise.

The food is prepared very well.
Really good food, cocktails, and service, and the prices are on par with Bay Area restaurants (a bit high). But beware of the desserts. A small scoop of homemade ice cream and a cookie is almost $10. They’ll try to ask you if you want to add this to any other desserts, so keep in mind you’re basically paying for another dessert. The desserts themselves are just OK.
Specifically chose this place for brunch because my friends follow a keto diet. Once they read the menu and saw pictures on Yelp, one ordered a cheeseburger WITH bun and the other ordered french toast. Neither had regrets...

We had a very nice evening. Place was a bit noisy so the older you are, the harder it may be to hear in dining room. The bar did not seem so noisy. Staff very nice.

Complete waste of money!!! Black Angus has better steak and food. Very disappointed in the quality of the steaks (ordered a rib-eye ordered both to be cooked medium but they were medium well to well-done... and they were served already sliced up in slim strips on the plates so the cook should have been able to see that they were cooked improperly. Definitely won't be back.
The bar and wait staff were perfect! The burger was ordered well done and came rare. Sent it back and the re-cooked the patty and put it back on the same plate. When it was returned all the veg was soggy as was the bun and the burger was still rare. The chicken cutlets were flavorless. How about some mustard sauce or gravy...salt pepper? The waitress tried hard but the kitchen failed big time! Hope she keeps all the tip! Everything else was fine.
Good place to take meat lovers. Others will likely not be impressed. The meat sourced from their own 23,000 acre farm at foot of mt Shasta. Ask the meat cutters for their current favorite cuts of beef, pork, lamb, chicken and charcuterie.

Visited twice so far. Great food, great service! Lamb meatballs are our fave. Great please for weekend brunch. Very friendly staff. Will return again for sure.

We ordered the a couple of steaks - medium rare. They were about $40 each. They were not played very nice at all. It was just a steak on top of a side (in my case it was carrots) drowning in some sort of sauce. It just didn't look very professional at all. Definitely not something I should be paying $40 for. They steak need more seasoning. But it was cooked right. Definitely a good cut of meat though. I wouldn't say it's worth it to get their steaks.
Go during happy hour and get a burger and beer. Those burgers are great and half off between 4-6.
I had the 100 day aged burger and the beef tallow fat fries. I will never be able to eat meat raised and prepared by typical commercial methods or fry my food any other way.
I was lucky enough to meet Anya Fernald and hear her story awhile back. I have her cookbook. The mortadella sandwiches are nothing short of a delicacy, yet simple to prepare. For convenience I have tried to substitute Belcampo Mortadella with that from other shops, but the flavor of the Belcampo Mortadella leaves no comparison. The sandwich recipe is on their website.
And then we have the fries. Everyone should be cooking with real fat. Both the beef and the duck fat fries are equally indescribable. They'll have you wanting to render your own fat at home. Not your's literally - duck, beef, etc.
I highly, highly recommend the Belcampo experience.
Bocanova, Belcampo’s predecessor restaurant was my absolute Oakland favorite, so I was predisposed to be critical. Unfortunately I was right to be. The food was just ok, and pricey. I tried the lamb meatballs starter, which I had heard good things about... meh. Then I had the St. Louis ribs, not something I usually order. Hard to cut the meat off the bones, but the collard greens and cornbread were yummy.The noise level inside was annoying too. Love the location, so maybe I’ll be back and try a different entre. Definitely going to sit in the patio though.
Amazing food. Decent service, although they were a bit busy and short handed at first. Overall very good though.
Poor service on a slowish evening. They never removed appetizer plates before the main courses were left. Steak knives brought over as an afterthought as we moved around our dishes to make space for dinner plates and waited around.
Marrow was good, but the steaks could have been better given the expectations of high quality meat... just drenching the meat in butter is not enough. Other sides ok, asparagus over cooked.
The waitress was trying but didn’t seem to have the appropriate support in terms of well trained staff.
High quality ingredients, relatively simple but well executed preparations, delivered with relaxed and gracious service. A good meal in pleasurable surroundings, if a bit pricier than it might be.
