Bella Mia Ratings and Reviews
We went in on a Monday night before a show, and the restaurant was quiet and uncrowded. We were seated immediately. The service was attentive and friendly and we were served quickly. Good start!
The food was quite good and we were very satisfied with the overall experience. This is not amazing place that will change your life (good luck with that in the theater district!) but it is quite solid and a good value for the area and for a pre-theater meal. If you're looking for a nice meal in the northern half of the theater district, I recommend Bella Mia
I made reservations for 5:30 at 5:30 I showed up I got seated to my table and I had service right away the food was fantastic the waiters were fantastic you couldn't ask for anything better the food was cooked you couldn't ask for anything better than this we topped it off with dessert cheesecake and coffee we finished our meal and we walked over to the theater to enjoy a play but I must say one of the best restaurants I've been in in the last 14 years
La comida fue muy buena y el mesero que nos atendio fue muy atento. Celebramos año nuevo en este restaurante y sin duda valio la pena. A pesar que estaba lleno nos hicieron cupo por la reservacion que oreviamente habiamos realizados por este medio.
Bella Mia took great care of us! We were going to an 8PM Theater show (Springsteen On Broadway!) and Bella Mia was perfect! The host (owner?) took great care of us, and we got to the show with plenty of time - it's just a 1/2 block from the Walter Kerr Theater. Thanks to Bella Mia!
The food was delicious. The pizza was good but the pastas that we ordered were even better. The only issue we had was that we never got a designated server so we had to flag down a random employee anytime we needed something. That being said, they took good care of us when we did flag them down and the food came out promptly which is a benefit for those people headed to Broadway shows.
6:15 reservations and a show at 8pm. After we were seated, it took 20 minutes for a waiter to come to our table to take a drink order. After we got our drinks, the waiter took our appetizer and salad order. We put our dinner order in at the same time because we were going to a show and figured it would save time. We got our appetizer and salad in a timely manner. 30 minutes later we had to ask the waiter to check on our meal as it was getting late. He came back with our meal and it was cold. Now it’s 7:35pm They offered to heat it up but we now had 15 minutes to get to our show so we asked for the check. A classy place would have comped the 2 drinks and appetizer and salad. Not here. $50 bill and off to the show starving. So disappointed!!!
After making a reservation weeks in advance we were told at the door that there would be a long wait due to unreservationed guests who were already seated. As we had theater tickets and had an hour window in which to eat any wait would cause issues. The reservation person did get us seated within 20 minutes but our waiter pretty much made us feel unwelcome. He was rude beyond words. He told us we were the ones wasting time by not ordering quickly but there was no way that we would be able to get an entrée under a half hour.We decided to simply get a caprese salad to speed things along after asking the people at the next table (which was practically in our laps) how long it took to get their meals and was told at least 45 minutes. The salad had no flavor and barely any balsamic on it at all. We were about to walk the check due to the total unattentiveness of the waiter, when he magically appeared. Needless to say we did NOT tip and would never think to visit this establishment again should we be in New York.
We ate at Bella Mia after a Broadway performance. One of our favorite menu items is Nonna's lasagne. I enjoy that item so much I find it hard to order anything else. Other members of our party enjoyed their orders equally as much. The restaurant is convenient to Broadway and, for the most part, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely a find in a busy area.
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous authentic Italian meal this evening. The wait staff was friendly, accommodating and right "off the boat". The Olive oil and Salmuni e Formaggi was to die for as were our meals (Orrechiette Pulglise and Capellini Primavera) I truly enjoyed my dinner and was extremely excited that I was able to have a conversation in Italian with real Italians!! Our only complaint is that the bread was not real Italian bread, but rather basic rolls. Oh...and the cappuccino was amazing!! Better then mine!!
The noise level was so quiet!! The service was non-existent. The food was invisible and tasteless. There was no ketchup on the tables The waitress was kind of a stiff. Oh wait.. the restaurant was out of business. So we went to Becco and that was delicious.
I made a reservation at this restaurant about a month ago. It has always been our favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. We went the night of our reservation and were amazed to find that the restaurant was closed and was being turned into a Cuban restaurant. I received no call or email to let me know this. Thankfully, we were able to find another place around the corner that had a table available since we were pressed for time having a show to attend that night.
Pietrasanta is a wonderful restaurant, due in part to its delicious food, and in part to its personalized service. The menu is diversified, with homemade pasta, and many other great choices. They have an excellent prix fixe menu for both lunch and dinner. The wait staff are pleasant and knowledgeable, and the owner, Pietro, is a delightfully charming man who makes the rounds, stopping by each table to make certain every customer is pleased with their meal. They are moving to larger quarters in May 2017, close by, with the same access to the Broadway theaters. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!
Pre-theater dinner and restaurant looked like it had potential but fell short of my expectations. Started with sautéed artichoke hearts which sounded good on the menu but were breaded and soggy. Opted to have pasta since the menu says it's made fresh in house. Really didn't taste like fresh pasta to me but it was ok. Some of the clams served with it were loaded with grit /sand and were inedible. Service was ok. Probably won't go back.
Pietrasanta is easy to walk by, but is a great place for dinner or a weekend afternoon. The wine list is affordable and the food is consistently good. The salmon and the seafood risotto were excellent with sizable portions. It's in a relatively odd stretch of Ninth Avenue, where there are mostly bars, but I recommend the visit.
I was looking for a new restaurant for pre-theater dining a little out of all the hustle and bustle. The restaurant was comfortable, service was excellent, very friendly and the food was great. Gnocchi was deliciousness my husband loved the Bronzino.
I would recommend!!
We have been going to Pietrasanta for many years, the food is consistently good, the staff is always friendly and helpful, the cost is reasonable for a quality NYC theater district dining experience. I guess that is why they have been there for several decades. We'll be back!
Great food and service, perfect for a pre theatre meal. We were asked as soon as we were seated if we were going to a show and what time. Authentic Italian, pasta was excellent. Tables very close together so would not recommend this place for an intimate evening!
