Everything was great EXCEPT there was so much breading on the oysters and onion rings! The amount of breading was overwhelming.
Happy hour review. Good value: drinks, wings, raw oysters, pork belly. Fries alright. Wouldn't get again: fried oysters. Service was good, friendly bartenders. Weird collection of movies on the tvs: American history X, the Crow, Catch me if you can
I was surprised to see that with 2 pages of wine selections, only a few were available by the glass. Otherwise the food was good.
Service was great. Cajun shrimp and meal were spot.
I was very excited to try Beer & Claw the portions and flavors were spot on... I highly suggest they offer a combo sauce of the Cajun and garlic herb. I mixed them and they were awesome.
The only down side was service was a little slow even though we under every thing is cool to order
I would def come back
I can’t wait to return. So many delicious item came from the kitchen. My girlfriends and I were there during LA Dine week. For starters we enjoyed the ahi & watermelon salad, the wontons and the shrimp on ice for appetizers, I had the LobstaMozz, which was AMAZING! You have to love mozzarella as much as you love lobster. The Cajun fries and the lemon pepper fries were delicious. Dessert...Ohhh my goodness!!!! We had the grilled peaches w/ice cream...delicious, the strawberry cake...light and fluffy, and we had the bananas fosters cheesecake....ridiculously delicious. This is my new favorite dessert. I will end as I started...I can’t wait to return. Thanks Ricky for being such a great server.
Service was terrible, asked for my rib-eye well came out RED, potatoes that came with it COLD had to send it back and the response was “how long has it be sitting here”. Food did not all come out together. Won’t be going back
Huge portions! It was wonderful. I went for DineLA and got the LobstaMozz. Perfect
My good was room temperature to cold my dates food was very good. Service was good.
We went there because of Dine LA and was very pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing and plentiful. The service was top notch! Even though the restaurant was fairly busy, it seemed like everyone working there had a great attitude, was friendly and very willing to help and take care of the customers. The staff, from the hostess to the servers always had a smile and willing to answer any questions and help in any way.
Attentive service, good food, fair price. During a Dodgers game, the happy hour specials run through the e nb d of the game.
Excellent Food!!! Definitely will bring back Family And Friends!!!
We ordered the seafood plate. The food is too salty.
Our first time at Beer & Claw. Our dishes were beyond amazing, so delicious and drinks were just perfect. Our waitress was super nice. Excellent service. Can't wait to go back!
Went with my family of five. We asked a few questions about the menu but our waitress couldn’t answer some of them. Our appetizer came out when we were eating dinner. Salad brought out without dressing. Had to ask for it several times. We probably won’t go back again.
Food was great!!!
Bret experience in Passadena!
The garlic wok fried Dungeness crab was the best thing we ordered. The Cajun lobster boil at another table looked great. Everything else was just mediocre. The breading they use on everything from the fish to the onion rings is heavy and dry. Did not like it at all. The pork belly and short rib apps were super salty. Server was very helpful
Great food! We had Robin as our server. He was absolutely amazing! Great energy. Can’t wait to go back!
Were pretty disappointed on this visit. Have been here several times before and service and selections were good. This being father's day, and it still being fairly early I would not have expected them to run out of things, but there were many items that we wanted that were not available, despite the restaurant only being sparsely populated. Food came out in pieces. Calamari appetizer was very small this time, and a little over cooked. They had no oysters in any form, fresh or fried. Did not have shrimp mac and cheese.
Brought parents to celebrate Father’s Day a bit earlier. Loved the place and food, next time we will order no spice on the seafood platter. Overall great service. Worth going again ! Thanks to our server Samantha!
Great menu, good value. We will be back.
We had the best food. Our waiter was so nice, courteous, and attentive.
I have already told the Weston of Pasadena, where we are staying that they should recommend the Beer & Claw
When we walked in I was concerned as the place is fairly large but almost empty. I thought maybe it was because the Academy Awards were on (which they had on several of their many TVs), but I have driven by on a couple of other occasions and it was also rather empty. The place is well decorated and has several different types of seating areas. The furniture is a plain and simple however. Ordering from the beer list, we didn't realize that most of these were in a can. Discovered afterwards that the beers on tap were listed on the wall deep inside the restaurant. Menu selections were somewhat limited, and pricing for many entrees matched pricing for sandwiches which didn't seem quite right. Also sides were offered more for simple dishes than the expensive ones, which didn't seem to match either. Much to my surprise after all of the above, the seafood and sides were all very good. We will likely return and spread the word.
I was very disappointed in the food.
The place was not busy but the tables were dirty. Service was ok. Food was terrible. Absolutely bland. No flavor. Sausage tasted like medicine and I didn't finish my meal. Cocktail was also bland and tasteless and zero alcohol in it, while we paid full price for alcoholic beverage . I will not go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food was just okay. I had the cajun shrimp and crab with corn. Sauce could be better. I ordered something to go for someone else and the server gave me the wrong order. I won't go back.
SUPER super SALTY! bad presentation for food as well. seafood overcooked.
The seafood platter was over seasoned with salt had to return it to the kitchen. Once it came back, it was better, but still salty. The LobstaMozz wasn't that great either. The only thing I like about it is their fries. Our server was nice, but it's definitely not a place I will return.
The Cajun Seafood Platter is a great deal! Generously fed 4 adults, probably would have worked even for 5-6 along with appetizers. The other food, although generous portions, tasted only ok - Fish & Chips, DineLA special - shrimp cocktail, wings, ribeye.
Service left some to be desired but wasn't terrible.
Bonus: Playoff game was on and there were ample screens throughout the restaurant for viewing!
ABSOLUTELY amazing food. Restaurant week has become a real gimmick .... however Beer and Claw really delivered with the value of choices and EVERYTHING was tasty.... this will become one of my restaurant standards
The food was great as well as the service. We had a problem with a steak that was over cooked. We told our waiter who apologized and brought us another one that was great.
Good food and excellent service by our waiter. But food was too salty and the entrees came out before our appetizers did.
Great service. We had the Dine LA menu and it did not disappoint. Entree portions were generous. We'll definitely return to try other menu items.
Great value for amount of food, but the food was good, not great or memorable.
The drinks were great, well made and a normal price. We had the grilled short ribs and the grilled pork belly appetizers, and the short ribs were good but the pork belly was phenomenal. Well cooked with a touch of crispness and the seasoning was amazing. The garlic noodles with shrimp were good, but very basic. However, the Cajun seafood platter (with the Cajun seasoning; they also have a garlic butter seasoning) was absolutely incredible. I wanted to lick the Cajun sauce off of everything. And the seafood was amazing and well cooked. I definitely recommend going with a few people and trying a few things because the platter is definitely meant to be shared. I do feel like they were not prepared for the high volume of people, but everyone was very nice and I definitely recommend this place!
Restaurant decided to skip the 2nd course of two of our party, bringing their entrees out with the 2nd course for the rest of us. We received different stories from server and manager about the missing 2nd course--one said they ran out of an item (but nobody decided to tell us after ordering, and decided to move those people right to entree) while the other said it was prepared, but somehow never made it to our table (not moving with the timing of delivery). They later received their replacement 2nd course, while the remainder of the party waited another 30 minutes for their entrees.
Had a great time...food was excellent...
Service could've been a little more attentive.
The restaurant experienced a light night. I expected a spot for beer and Cajun style or seafood style food. Disappointing preparation of a shrimp dish which had very few shrimp.
Odd ambience with some unusual music, Asian type décor, and a menu that matched none of this. On a busier night, it might be an average spot to eat.
I recommend the many other places in the area.
This is the best seafood restaurant period!!!! We ordered the seafood platter for $88. We were 3 and still had food left over for another party. I disagree with customers that say “they could not order spice level”.... that is incorrect, you can order, mild, medium or spicy. We ordered the mild which was non spicy actually... the spice used for this is simply to die for... love love love
