Beelow's - Lake Zurich
Have been to this restaurant for dinner and the menu was far more extensive. That being said, the lunch menu was more a bar menu with the emphasis on casual dishes such as burgers and tachos. there was a good range of salads which I will probably try next time. I had the sirloin steak with fries ( which were very good) - I should have asked for the steak sauce on the side as it tended to overpower the flavor of the meat.
I am not a dessert person but they look pretty good.
Overall, good service and pleasant surroundings.
Monica was great. She could not have been more pleasant and professional. Thanks for the anniversary treat. Both prime rib and NY strip steak were best we've enjoyed in some time. WE WILL BE BACK.
The service was horrendous and the food was below average. I ordered the prime rib which was literally half fat. Not sure it how it went out of the kitchen.
Steak over cooked and we waited for everything. Appetizer seemed half the portion.
They clearly did not have enough staff.
When I complained to the manager the next day, he was actually rude and argumentative.
I've referred many friends and business associates here-never again.
This restaurant has declined in food quality and service.
The food as usual was very good! I did have to send the prime rib back because it came out a little too rare but it was fine the second time. The only problem was it took a long time to get a server to come to our table other than that it was excellent as usual.
We have been to the location in Highland Park many times and always had great food and service. We took my mom for an early dinner for her birthday and had an issue with three of the four dinners we ordered. My son’s cheeseburger was ordered rare and plain and came well done with no pink and had lettuce tomato onion and pickles/condiments. I ordered the rack of lamb medium rare and each of the chops were so full of fat I couldn’t even cut through them. My mom had ordered the blue cheeseburger and asked for the blue cheese on the side and her burger came with an inch of blue cheese on it. They remade my son’s burger and I changed my order from lamb chops to fillet. By the time our new dinners came back everyone else at the table was done eating and my sons second burger was sent back as well because it was well done again.
Food was cold, burger fully cooked when we order medium rare
we did not have a good experience at Beelow's. We had a party of six at 5:30PM and requested sitting in the patio. The table was along the wall and the individuals sitting on the bench against the wall had the sun directly in their eyes; e should never have been sitted there in the first place. We then were given a round table right behind the hostess's stand. The waitress we had was very slow in taking our initial drink orders, we had to request service and then it took a very long time before our orders were taken. When our food did arrive my wife's hamburger was on the wrong bun and we also did not receive the condiments we requested. My wife's hamburger issue was pretty quickly and we did get the mustard and ketchup we requested. When a manager came by to ask how things were and I said not good the response I received was that they were very busy and the staff was a bit overwhelmed. My wife and I recommended Beelow's and were quite embarrassed on Beelow's staff treated us, I doubt if we will be back.
Food was delicious, wine list selection was great, and service was on point!
This was our 5th or 6th visit to Beelow's. This time we were a party of 4. My husband's chicken marsala was excellent. He was extremely pleased with his choice. He has had this dish on previous visits here. I was disappointed with the crusted tilapia because the crust was overly done. The fish was good and not too dry. I ordered the tilapia because I've had it here previously and really enjoyed it. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good. (All 4 of us had the garlic mashed potatoes.) The wedge salads were just so-so. Iceberg lettuce could have been crisper. The other couple had one dinner that was meatloaf which was extremely good according to the diner. The other diner had one of the chicken dinners which was also very much enjoyed. Our server gave us excellent service. She was friendly and checked back with us numerous times to see if we needed anything. We had a pleasant experience.
Went for Mothers Day brunch... food was great and had an awesome selection. Server and ambiance was wonderful as well!
Had a great time loved the live music and the food is always outstanding!! Thank you, Craig.
Service was good, it was busy for a Tuesday. But the food was terrible. Steak way over cooked and burnt , and my sons ribs were so tough he couldnt eat them.
The $45 cowboy cut ribeye was ok, but definitely not worth the price no matter how it's marketed. I've had better steak from Sam's Club. Her steak was overcooked, but we didn't want to wait for a replacement. I really don't mind splurging on a good steak, but when I do, my expectations are higher. Overall my wife and I commented on how everything was average at best and a bit disappointing.
NY and filet were perfect. Everything else was mediocre to fair. Wedge salad had that "sitting in the fridge for two days' taste and the twice baked might've been thrice re-heated. Baked potato was good but very small. Prices were high. $140 for two should've been more memorable and satisfying. Service was excellent. Place was deserted at 7:30 on a Sunday night.
First time dining here, the food and service was great. Came here with a party of 10 people and everyone had a wonderful time. Will come again soon.
Excellent experience. Food was superb and the service was top notch. They truly care about their customers.
The food was fabulous, and our server and the restaurant manager were wonderful.
Great food and service!
Amazing food everytime i go there. Went with newbies they loved it
Steak was excellent but terrace was to cold to enjoy. It was 32F out side, cold wind came from gap.
The service and food are always amazing at Beelow's. Although an upper-end restaurant, they are wonderful with catering to children. They have a children's menu and will modify for "picky" eaters, they have crayons and coloring pages, and a toy chest from which to pick a prize.
I made reservations for 3 people at 6:45 on a Saturday night. We did not get seated until 7:20. There were many other parties who had the same difficulty and were upset. The host at the front desk said “It will be just a few minutes,” three different times during our wait. I would have appreciated more honesty about the actual time we would have to wait. Once I received my steak, it was overdone (ordered medium rare but it was medium well) but by that time I was so frustrated and hungry that I didn’t send it back. This is not a newly opened resteraunt do I would expect a better management of reservations and seating from them.
Great food and service. New chef has turned it up a notch Noisy in the patio, go inside if you want quiet. Everything is very fresh and its hard to beat a family owned local steak house. Highly recommended.
Service was great. Ribeye not cooked enough (came rare and back well done) but server was very attentive.
Overall the experience was very good.
I will be back for the great value!
A little expensive. Good for special occassions. I had the prome rib. I like it rare and it came out nice and rade. Nice large salad, huge bakes potato. Waiter waqs good - constantly refilling our drinks. I'll go back!
Our waiter was very patient with my slightly dotty mother in law which I really appreciated.
We have visited Beelow's several times over the past two years. Our server was attentive, and gladly made recommendations when asked(especially dessert). The steaks were equal to any found in mid-range spots in the city of Chicago. The ambiance is nice not high end, but nice. The only reason for this review is $$$. Maybe we have not paid attention, when we have visited with our group of six, but our meal was exceedingly reasonable. We two had several drinks each, shared app, salads/steaks/veggies, shared dessert, and coffee for $ 110.00. A very nice experience at a moderated price. Highly recommend.
I have dined at Beelows many many times. For a special occation or last minute decision to dine at the bar, it has always been an enjoyable evening. Great food and service. For the price, a terrific find !!!! Better than the more expensive resturants we have been to. Love it every time.
When we originally started going to Beelow's we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Love the idea that the owners are local. The past few times we've gone there however the service has been terrible. Regularly takes 2 hours to finish a meal. This time the food was not as good as usual either. Too bad...
Taking the time to make reservations was really worth it. We were seated as soon as we arrived while people waiting were told they had an hour waiting time.
My fiance and I are are foodies, I am a chef and pretty picky. Had a reservation, were sat right away and server came right over. Wine selection was good and affordable. I ordered the trio special of 4oz. filet, shrimp scampi and crawfish. The filet was the best part, scampi overcooked. I also ordered chicken tortilla soup and was quite disappointed. I had better tortilla soup at Fox and the Hound! The soup had too much tomato flavor, it needed more spice, maybe some sour cream and every tortilla soup should have tortilla strips! Ambience was boring, I could have been in a upscale pancake house. We eat out pretty often, enjoy going to new places. I don't feel the need to go here again.
HAD A GREAT DINNER. SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD.
Everything on the menu looked wonderful and it was very difficult to decide. The food we ordered was excellent. The server was knowledgeable. It was really, really good. Casual dining, good food, friendly service.
The food was very good, but alittle pricy.
My brother and I took my father to Beelow's for his special birthday dinner. From the moment we walked into Beelow's we were treated like a special guest. Our server, George was very informative and recommended several speciality items. The rib-eye steak was great and priced well for the size. Service was prompt, but not rushed. I will be returning to Beelow's and highly recommend.
Great mea. Everything tasted delicious. The negative - eat too much, no room for the deserts. Great appetizer selection. Not your average steak place. Definately need to go again.
I had a burger with Bernaise sauce. It was done perfectly with a delicious flavor. My husband had the chicken breats with garlic. It had an unusual taste that was not very tasteful. We would definitely go back aqnd try the steaks. It was a p;leasant meal without being rushed at all.
Always consistently good. Service is always good. just a little pricy.
The only complaint I have is we had requested to be put in a quiet area. It was my Dad's 86th birthday and he is hard of hearing. We were seated in the center of the noisy dinning room so that was not ideal. I'm not sure if there is a quieter area but that would have made the experience better.
