Food was generic in flavor and very overpriced, seems like it is on the downhill.
Food was good, but our waiter seemed to forget about us. Three tables showed up after us and had drinks and appetizers before we got our drinks (which were ordered). After finally getting our drinks we asked to order. Had to wait as waiter had someone else’s drinks on his tray. Said he would come right back - came back 10 minutes later. Have been here before and the service and food were great - I suppose everyone has a bad night. Would come back.
Everything was good, the service was good with only one exception. The waitress was extremely hyper. Her quick movements were discomforting. Her service was always prompt
Birthday- Great food and great service!
The food, as always, was superb. The service was not up to the usual excellence. A number of times the server forgot to bring something we had requested to our table. In addition, the timing of our salad and entree was too tight, due to the forgetfulness of our server.
Food was meh. Caesar salad was dry and what little dressing was there was not good. Pasta with vodka sauce was bland. Had to ask for cheese just for flavor. Forgot husbands french onion soup. He said filet and lobster were fantastic, but was almost $100. Key lime pie was great.
Great service, food & ambiance!
The restaurant is outdated.
The reception was unprofessional and lacking overall.
Our server was very nice. Unfortunately, her professionalism and attention to detail was nonexistent. She had a strong cigarette odor.
Our table location was next to a door leading to the outside seating area. There was a draft coming under the door that completely froze our feet, and quickly made our food cold.
We have been to their other location many times, and had great experiences!
Our server Christina was awesome
Love Beelow's. Food is great and drinks are very good and not too small. The only issue is the service is sometimes lacking. But, always a good experience.
We and our friends like to go to Beelows for a quiet and tasty dinner experience at reasonable cost for the area. Oh, and did I mention there's free parking in the same Building so no need to get wet or frozen!
Mediocre visit. It was ok but nothing out of the ordinary. Went before a movie; 2 cheeseburgers w/ everything no drinks. Also split a wedge which was tasty but you could tell it had been sitting in the frig for a while bc the lettuce endcuts were brown. Blue cheese salad dressing very good.
Burgers were extremely bland. Just no flavor in the beef & there were no char marks that IMO adds flavor & what makes the meat tastier. Burgers sat on a ciabatta roll that was too big.
Disappointed bc a good way to tell if a restaurant is special or not is how they cook a simple hamburger—which is pretty hard to mess up.
All wait staff smelled like cigarettes
Excellent, but some of the staff was unprofessional and abrasive. Our particular server was very good, but one server was noisy and abrasive, and the hostess was dressed too casually.
Food was adequate but nothing to write home about.
Food, as plated, not as plentiful as price point would suggest. Diner still hungry following meal.
As always good and service excellent! Very warm and comfortable place to dine, even better we are less than 10 minutes away. Happy New Year Beelows staff!
Very comfortable, good food and value. Honored our reservation on time and we were able to carry on conversation without yelling. Thanks.
We had a large group dine here for a birthday / holiday celebration.
Our waiter was over-the-top obnoxious.
He listened to our conversations and then inserted himself into them and was making judgemental comments about a story we told. At one point he suggested he pull up a chair to our table because he had a similar story of his own that he wanted to tell.
This waiter was intrusive and made everyone feel uncomfortable. He sucked the energy out of our evening and made the entire evening about himself and not the person who's birthday we were celebrating.
Wait staff can make or break the dining experience. This guy upset a party of 9 who will not be coming back.
Everything was excellent
Our server was the best! He made our son’s birthday dinner special!
Dinner was delicious and was enjoyed by all 6 of us!
After serving drinks and taking our initial order, our server was no where to be seen. The order was wrong; we tried to tell the person busing the table but she didn't understand. There was no management. The food was thrown on the table. It was not good quality nor worth anywhere near the cost.
We love going to Beelows because your staff is super professional and friendly! Always a great experience.
We were a family of 12. The service was very slow. Our waitress was pleasant and had too many tables to
Provide good service. Food started service after 35 minutes of ordering. Food was warm not hot. There
Was shortage of service help.
We went to Beelow's for our anniversary dinner on Friday night. Everything was good except for our waiter. My husband ordered a vodka martini and 15 minutes later the waiter came back to our table and send, " I'm sorry but the bartender has never heard of a 'vacant' martini." Neither have we. By the time we got our drinks, the ice in mine was all melted. Same thing with the wine. I was finished with my wine by the time my husband's wine arrived. I ordered a second glass of the same, and it was NOT the same wine the second time. Just felt like we spent most of our time looking for our waiter. Oh, and when he handed us the check he said, " boy you guys can really eat!". I'm sure it wasn't malicious but a strange thing to say to people at a restaurant. The food was good. The atmosphere is good. We'll probably go back. Just don't want that guy again.
Hubby and I enjoyed another great dinner at Beelows. Their wine selection is great, with some Coravin selections as well. Service is always great. We had Chicken Beelow and the Beef Medallion Trio. Sides were Caesar and wedge salads, veggies and twice baked potato. We were stuffed and skipped desserts, but they have always been great. Highly recommend for and enjoyable, relaxing, delicious dinner!
Birthday dinner ~Only 1 dedicated waitstaff for the ENTIRE restaurant!! While he was great at what he did, (including cleaning the tables), their was only so much he could do to keep up! A few other 'management' staff walking around and seemingly uninterested is helping!!! All 3 of us were served lukewarm cappuccinos.....but did not want to bother our server as he was busing the tables...shame on Beelow's !
Had a reservation at 7:00. Arrived on time. No tables available. Seated at table in bar. Service there poor.
We asked for a quiet table because I have trouble hearing. It was our son-in-laws birthday dinner. We were seated in a back room and were the only ones in there. While still having cocktails before dinner, a group of 10 very loud people were seated in our room. None of the four of us could hear each other. It was awful! We would have asked to move but just then our dinner came so we stayed and finished it. When we left the restaurant, my wife talked with the manager who could have cared less that our evening was ruined. We have been regular diners at Beelows, both in Lake Zurich and Highland Park. We always want to support local restaurants. We will NOT be returning to Beelows.
Went to eat before a movie. Told server we were in a hurry and wanted to get an order in. He gave us menus and then didn’t come back. After 15 minutes we walked out. Never got our drinks and never ordered our food. Went to Potbelly’s across the street.
Our waiter was very attentive. My Beelow Chciken was quite tender and tasty.
the restaurant is a little pricey in my opinion xxxxxxx
We were happy with all phases of our meal.
It didn't live up to its legend, but it is worth a try.
We have been to Beelow's many times. If dining there last Thursday night had been our first time there we would probably never go back. Our server was awful. He was brisk and rude. When we sat down we asked him for gluten free bread and he said "no, we don't have any". Then minutes later showed up at the table with gluten free bread and no explanation. He just made us and our out of town guests very uncomfortable.
Our favorite server there is a young lady who wears a bandanna in her hair. She is wonderful.
Everything was excellent but.......I brought some out of town guests there and the biggest disappoint was the bugs that were flying around and bothering us throughout dinner.
Wonderful birthday dinner! Delicious food & even better desserts.
We had been there several times before. The steaks did not disappoint however the grilled calamari was bad. It was over cooked and tough. The sauce with capers was good but could not rescue the dish. The crab cake appetizer was super tiny compared to the steak appetizer. And both were just ok. The French onion soup looked old and my daughter did not care for it and she loves French onion soup. The horseradish had no heat. I recognize that there were many older patrons but they could consider 2 types of sauce then. Everyone loved their steak, filet, prime rib, and bone in veal chop, and the truffle fries are a must but then don’t get any more starch. The order feeds an army. Steamed broccoli was perfectly cooked (not to firm or too soft) the desserts were as good as the steaks. Key lime, flourless chocolate cake and the chocolate mousse cups. Over all it was good, a few improvements could have made it great.
Wonderful waitress and a great birthday experience!!!
Thank you for being part of my birthday celebration!!!
Went to Beelow's on Saturday after driving back from the UM v. UW football game to bemoan (celebrate) to outcome. Although it was very busy, we were seated promptly, had very good service, could hear one another and really enjoyed the food. Perhaps the next time we go will be able to celebrate a M victory!
