Beehive Ratings and Reviews
Overall, the place is fun, but I don't think I'll be returning for a meal again. I made a reservation and that didn't affect being seated quickly. I still had to wait for the parties in front of me to be seated. The waitress was clearly covering too many tables. She was good at her job, but we felt it was hard to get a hold of her because she was always at a different table. They charge for bread and butter, where most civilised restaurants give that complimentary- like it's actually on the menu as an appetizer. We ordered the scallops and the salmon. Both were overcooked and I found that the meal didn't satisfy me (less than 5', 100lb, tiny appetite), let alone my boyfriend. For the quality, the meal was way over priced.
BUT the drinks were great and the music was awesome. I would return for a cocktail and to listen to music, but not to eat.
Good food and wait service! This was not our first time so we knew what to expect as far as noise level. However, the after work bar scene on a Thursday night is very loud. Our table was close to the bar and we were glad it was large enough for us (2) to sit side by side. Otherwise, we would not have been able to have any conversation at all. Overall good vibe and good food.
I’ve dined here several dozen times and it used to be astounding. Over the years the quality has decreased. This most recent time was for Valentine’s Day and I don’t know if it was bc it was a fixed menu churning out dishes for quick turnover or if they’ve just gotten lazy, but the menu was in inspiring and the meals were over cooked. I love the beehive but I’ve been very disappointed in their kitchen the past few times. I gave up when I ordered a “chocolate mousse” and I received a hard chocolate cake the size of my shoe that I could stick my fork in and it stayed standing. I would absolutely go for a drink and great jazz in awesome ambiance but until something new happens in that kitchen I would recommend going anywhere else for the money you are gonna Spend.
We had come once before a long time ago but it was later at night and very chaotic and noisy, so we wanted to try it for actual normal dinner! They do have live music quite frequently so if that's not your thing, inquire ahead. The server was very laid back and friendly and easy to relate to, and the food was very good! The farro salad appetizer was our favorite! We would like to come back again to try more of the menu!
Went to Beehive on Friday night at 7:30 for a date. The place was packed, so glad I made a reservation. We sat upstairs and the waiter accommodated our request to sit near the balcony to see the band. We ordered mussels and bok choy for apps. The mussels were delicious. We ordered the lamb and cauliflower curry for dinner. The lamb was good but needed a side. It was almost a la carte. My date enjoyed the curry. Good wine menu and great ambiance.
Service was friendly, responsive and timely. One diner had a crack in a beer glass and the maitre d responded right away, apologized, fresh drink, and free hors d oeuvres . the broken glass did not hamper our night. Nice Blues, not too loud, we could still have dinner conversation. Good good option. I will go back. Men's room needs to be cleaner
On a date and management came over and blamed us for something someone else did and told us we had to leave immediately. I tried speaking with them explaining I was unsure what the problem was since I had seen nothing of what they were explaining and why it was they were so angry. Said it’d been a problem the last two hours and I was extremely confused since we were sitting at a table having dinner. We left to not cause any problems. However, after being treated as such, won’t be back. Food was good, no room for dancing but good band as well. Just upset we were accused of things we didn’t do and our night was ruined.
Awful experience. Tables are too small. It was obvious that the food is prepared in advance and everything is under a warming light. Food was lukewarm. Scrambled eggs were rubbery. Hash was lukewarm. Server disappeared we were sitting at the table with dirty plates for at least 20 minutes before someone cleared the table. We asked for the check and the waitress was
Gone for ten minutes and had to be flagged down to take our credit card. Will not go back. Very disappointing
We went for my husbands birthday. We called in a reservation and told the staff it was a special occasion. Our tables were directly in front of the stage. It was impossible to talk or hear each other. The music was fantastic! The food was very good, although we all would have like larger plates, the portions of food were larger then the plates they were on. Our food kept falling off into the table. Our waitress was great. Her name was Sarah and she was friendly and attentive. She answered all of our questions and gave great recommendations. I wish we were seated away from the stage, but now we will know that for next time.
TL;DR Extremely dissatisfied with the service and food, so much so that I will not be returning.
Ill start off by saying that I loved this restaurant a year ago, and thinking it would be a perfect spot to take my girlfriend for our anniversary, couldn’t have been more surprised and disappointed.
Nothing personal against our waitress, but we were pretty POed: 1) she spilled our drinks on us and didn’t apologize for it, claiming “surface tension” was the problem 2) waitress didn’t check in on us after our food was delivered, especially since there were things to be desired with the food (we had to call her over through other employees a couple times) and it was barely even 6pm, nowhere near peak hours 3) the manager was unapologetic and made a poor attempt to console us, literally couldn’t even muster an apology for our dissatisfaction 4) I couldn’t explain to myself how this offensive reel of scantily clad, dancing women being projected onto the wall next to us made sense as a part of the restaurant’s decor - it was repulsive and tacky, the owners couldn’t find anything else that fits the apparently prohibition-esque style of the restuarant?? 5) and on top of everything, the food just wasn’t very good.
Also, what restaurant makes you pay for bread and butter as an appetizer??
My meal was 'okay' for the price. My food arrived cold and the wait staff was absent. He corrected the situation when he finally revisited the table well after my meal was served. I have been to Beehive many times and this was the first I was very disappointed with both the food and most importantly in the service industry, the customer experience. I will revisit but will not rush back anytime soon.
I was shocked and appalled at the conditions at the beehive. It was a cold January night and they sat my party right near their "curtains" downstairs. You're a successful restaurant in Boston, please invest the $100 to build doors so your customers aren't freezing while they eat your overpriced food. I have taken many family members, friends, dates, and coworkers here and I can say I will never take anyone here again or recommend it to anyone. Food was ok service was decent minus our waiter spilling marinara sauce all over my cousins white shirt.
