We had made reservations for our party of five. The atmosphere is fantastic- You enjoy delicious food while listening to soft, live jazz in the background. It's there but not so loud you can't talk with your party. The eggs Benedict was perfect as was the burger with gorgonzola and bacon- cooked perfectly. And our server was was gracious and accommodating. I recommend this place to all our friends who come into the city.
Everbody from the hostess on was very friendly and made it fun to be there. Our server, Bobby, was exceptional. He was knowledgeable and helpful when ordring. When there was a mistake on my order he took care of it promptly and without any fuss. There wee others helping to serve and clear tables and they obviously have been trained well, asked if I was "still enjoying" rather then saying "Are you still working on that?". My husband's meal, the bohemian special was very good. The fries were differnt but also very tasty. My omelet was ordinary. I gave them 4 stars for ambiance only because it was a jazz brunch and when we first sat down the tro was awesome, then they took a 45 min break.
I was considering a Brunch Cruise around Boston, but had already seen most of during a segway tour we were on the day prior. The live jazz musicians was what caught my eye about this restaurant. But when we got there, it was more than expected. Very friendly staff, and they know what they're serving. The appetizers were nothing like the normal appetizer (try the Mediterranean Platter). Then the main courses....WOW! The quantity and the quality. I would love to go visit this place again.
The food was amazing as well as the ambiance (which I feel like is sort of obvious here). But, the most exceptional part was that we were 20 minutes late to our 5 person reservation & the hostesses were so kind and accommodating!
Great service, great ambiance and really creative food. We were worried we would not be able to talk. We had good music and good conversation!
Came here on a Sunday morning for the jazz brunch with my husband, my sister and her boyfriend for a special occasion. When I made the reservation I requested to be seated so we can see the jazz band, and we were sat right in front of the band! It was a little loud sitting directly in front of them, but we didn't mind since we came for the jazz! The atmosphere is awesome. The service was great, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were delicious. The bloody marys were spicy and strong, exactly what we like. The french toast was heavenly, and the sweet potato chorizo hash melted in your mouth! I would go back in a heart beat.
Best Bloody Mary I have had and the hanger steak and eggs were delish and a great hangover remedy after hitting the Petty concert the night before. We were seated right at our reservation time and the service was quick when we sat but tailed off a bit as it got busier. We had to wait for the check for more then 15 min and the AC in the resturant was not working that well (maybe hotflashes from the hangover.) All in all a great spot for brunh. Well done.
Upstairs, downstairs, outside. No matter where you are, Beehive is the best restaurant/club in the South End. This night, the mushroom and shrimp risotto was the pick. Romantic, yet lively, outstanding service, great bartenders, terrific jazz.
The aesthetic quality of the meal here is substandard. Taste is ok. I was shocked when I ordered the Japanese salad and was served a very sloppy pile of iceberg. Has the chef been to Japan? Food there is all about the beauty and taste. The main courses were just ok.
This restaurant seems so 1985. They wouldn't survive in most large metropolitan markets.
taste food good, like food i did, drinks were just ok, too sweet
Took my wife here and both of us had the braised short ribs after the lamb/cheese appetizer. My wife had the maple bread pudding for dessert and really liked it, I had the mixed berry cobbler that was also very good and quite large. Food was good, ample quantity and the service was great. As mentioned by other diners they do like to turn the tables quickly. We didn't feel rushed but as soon as a plate was consumed it was cleared from the table. They had a young lady singing and the noise level was fine. Not sure how loud it would get with a full band. We will go back.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had!
I've been wanting to come here for quite some time and was disappointed. I've been impressed with their dinner, but Sunday brunch was absolutely disappointing. That is almost what they are known for and I was very surprised. The hostesses were nice, but once we got to our table we were rushed from the second we sat down by Kate, our server. She gave us a few seconds to look at the menu then came back and didn't want to answer any questions for us. Once we place our order took our menus, and I had asked for one back so a guest of mine could order a drink. It was almost like she couldn't be bothered by us. Every request we had was turned down. At the end she dropped our check because "we're setting the tables for dinner". This was at 2 pm.
I had heard that this place was good and wanted to try out myself. The food was delicious and our waiter was very nice. Great food and live music. I would definitely go back.
Excellent food with live music, very attentive service. Great for all ages, young and old. We had our 5month old granddaughter with us; plenty of young couples present. Great outdoor dining as well.
Had a great table with view on the stage where live music was played, loved the cocktails. Food came rather quick and the table had been reserved again so we where ushered out at some point, maybe you should tell people when reserving. Overall the services was very nice and we had a great night.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary. We appreciated the good table by the music band. Other than that, i must say i was disappointed with the food and service. The waitress was not attentive. Every time we look up, and trying to call for service, she is rushing somewhere else. She interrupted our conversation, and came to ask us how everything was as she was conveniently servicing the table next to us.
The food was a big disappointment. The steak was over cook when we asked for rare. The short ribs was terrible. Over cooked and not tasty.
cute spot in a nice location. got great ambiance - love the decor plus the live jazz. we decided to go with the restaurant week menu. the food was okay, limited selections but that was expected. the winner of the whole dining experience was definitely the atmosphere. will come again to try brunch and maybe a larger group for a chance to try other dinner menu items.
Two of us went to beehive for dine out boston. We had an earlier reservation so the outdoor seating was great (no heat lamps that we saw). We got the soup and lamb appetizers, I really the lamb and it was a large portion. For entrees were also large portions (steak and short rib) & the short ribs came with great sides. For dessert we got one each of the berry cobbler and bread pudding. The berry cobbler was great and homemade whipped cream. The main drawback was an employee (guessing buser) kept coming to check on us making us feel like we needed to eat faster even though there were many open tables around us (many I mean 3-5 times per course & we were not at all slow eaters- much quicker than those around us). Overall I would recommend it!
Great food and great live entertainment! The service, from the hostess to the server to the manager, was excellent!
