Beehive Ratings and Reviews
First time at The Beehive and will definitely return. Met good friends and was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the live music. The menu is quite different but that was refreshing and the food was good. Staff and service were outstanding. This place is a gem.
the host was great but the table was small and awful(though there was enough larger tables, guess were lazy to clean it up), the live music was cool too. all tap beers were out of order, the food was overcooked, the waitress was nice at the beginning but then started to ask about "allset" cash change which is rude for restoraunt business, she has to bring the change and let me leave the tip and not decide for me what tip it should be, also she has to collect her tips after i am gone, this is basic etiquette. also circled the check in the tip suggestion place and wrote "thank you", i have a pic of that. totally unprofessional and rude, ruined our anniversary night. wont come back.
We picked the Beehive as we wanted a place to eat with nice live jazz. The food and service were very good. The music was not much of a factor - background at best, boring at worst. So, if you come here come for the food - not the music which is apparently not much of a focus for them
THE BEEHIVE IS LISTED AS ONE OF THE GREAT PLACES FOR LIVE MUSIC AND GOOD FOOD. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. THE BAND WAS AMAZING AND MY SON WAS TRULY IMPRESSED (HE IS VERY TALENTED AT MUSIC AS WELL AND WE WERE THERE VISITING BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC). THEY WERE THE ICING ON THE CAKE OF A GREAT MEAL AND AMAZING VISIT TO BERKLEE. MY SON IS SOLD AND HOPES TO VISIT BEEHIVE OFTEN WHILE ATTENDING BERKLEE. MY HOPE IS HE WILL GET THE CHANCE TO PLAY SOME THERE OR EVEN BETTER HAVE SOMEONE PLAY SOME OF HIS MUSIC THAT HE HAS AND WILL BE WRITING.
I had been to Beehive’s Jazz brunch, which is excellent. We wanted to try their dinner menu. Our reservation was too early, need to shoot for 7:30 or so. I ordered a garaham (so) Marsala veggie dish with paneer. Outstanding! Bread pudding was not the best I’ve had. My wife had their gelato, which was amazing. Overall, a few n place with great food.
FYI...A little chilly by the bar.
Definitely a very nice place to go to BUT the staff needs to communicate better (door guards and host) I had mentioned to the guard face to face that I had a reservation in 5 minutes and I was going to go down the street for a coffee, when I came back I was about 10 mins after my reservation because I had a good conversation I didn't want to interrupt. When I get inside the hist had cancelled and given away the table so I had to sit upstairs which wasn't bad but I wasn't happy about it at all. I didn't give the staff a hard time but I think communicating is important especially when you stand up feet from each other.
We've been here for Saturday Jazz Branch.
The food was great, music was cool, everything amazing.
Honestly, I didn't expect the music to be such great without any music charge.
Our kids also could enjoy both the music and food... that was the best part of our experience.
We'd definitely come back here if we could visit Boston again.
The food was great, our waiter was great, the host was not as great. There is an upstairs without a direct view of the live jazz music and we were seated up there. I'd say 75% of the reason we went to The Beehive for thanksgiving was for the jazz music. We asked if we could sit downstairs and they weren't rude, just not overly giving. Later I heard an older gentleman kindly ask if he could sit downstairs and they answered quite patronizingly "we have 103 other people coming in so we need to make sure we have seating for them as well." Written down--looks like a fine response-- in person it was quite uncomfortable. A simple "sorry, unfortunately we don't have open seats downstairs" would have sufficed.
Enjoyed a relaxing Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Arrived 10 min before our reservation time and were seated right on time. Music was enjoyable background. Food was great, service was pleasant. All around excellent special occasion experience in a beautiful area of Boston.
This was our first thanksgiving pregnant and we were excited to try beehive. However, the hostess that seated us left our experience tainted. We were seated far away from the music, the ambiance and near a cold door. When asked if we could wait for another table, she said this was the only option. However, 3 other couples were later moved when they asked (by a different host).
We will not be going back and given the value, it was very disappointing.
Not the type to leave a bad review but I would not recommend this place at all. The women at the front door made a joke that pertained to race, the waitress seemed annoyed and impatient when the menu isn’t clear cut at all, I felt rushed and towards the end of the night it gets very bar like definitely not what I wanted. Manager is nice drinks are strong are about the nice things I have to say about this place. Worst dining experience I’ve ever had.
Went for Saturday brunch, the host told us we needed a reservation or we could be added to a cancelation list, or sit at the bar. We were not added to the cancelation list but we went outside and looked on opentable and we were able to get a reservation for 4 people at 12 (it was about 11:50 when we reserved it). Went back in and we were seated right away with our new reservation. Thanks opentable!
We have gone to the Sunday Jazz brunch before and it was great. I booked on OpenTable knowing that it would be crowded. It has lost it charm and vibe. They seem to fall into the high volume trap -- they are popular but now its speed of execution. the food is not "done" or complete...the server was honest on recommendations on what to order. I was the only one that didn't take his recommendation -- was a mistake. They had a band but they seemed to be on break for the hour + we were there. Too bad!!
We arrived a bit early but were seated right away. The service from the time we entered until the time we left was excellent. The menu was quite varied and multiple styles. I had the vegetable curry and my wife had the chicken and both were excellent. There is a jice wine list and beer on tap is very good. We shared the bread pudding for desert. There may be other items on the desert list but as soon as I hear bread pudding, I don't pay attention to any other items. The Live Jazz starts early on Friday night so that was a pleasant surprise. We are looking forward to returning to try their Sunday Brunch. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.
Beehive has a funky decor and ambiance, which sometimes is a good sign and sometimes not. The food is fabulous. I would go back again and again! On Thursday night there was live jazz, not so loud that it interfered with conversation and quite good musically. Great place to have dinner before a show at BCA.
Don't go here! I want it all to myself! Seriously, we've found it difficult to get a table at Beehive and always leave wishing we went more often. Great atmosphere. Great service. Delicious and creative drinks and food. The jazz was wonderful. Hope to, again, soon.
