My boyfriend who lives out of state used his vacation time to come and visit me in Boston. We wanted to have a nice dinner somewhere near us for our last night together (which would be for a few months). We made a reservation at Beehive through Open Table, but called the restaurant beforehand and asked what time they stopped doing dinner that night to make sure we could eat. We were so excited to have dinner at Beehive, but upon arrival, we were not only told that we were not on the list, but that they were not serving dinner anymore. They were able to accommodate us because it was veterans day and the place was pretty bare. Beehive only had a short quick bite mini and just about everything on that menu had pork on it. The only thing I could get was the deviled egg and the burger because I could ask them to take off the bacon. The burger was small but tasted good. However, the deviled eggs were bland- we shared one and left the rest for the waiter to throw out. Our waiter, who by the way, was very tight-lipped and kept rushing us even though they were not closing anytime soon. We did not get dinner, we did not get good service, and the music went into a long intermission just 10 minutes after we got there. We are very disappointed and probably would not recommend this to anyone with high hopes of this place living up to its standard.
The Sunday jazz brunch is always lively and fun. The food is incredibly tasty, and they serve some of the best eggs I’ve ever had! My friend was visting, and I am glad that this was part of her Boston experience. Do make sure to book in advance for brunch as it fills up quickly.
The live music makes this outing worthy it. The service was great but we got a table next to a service center and the traffic and waiting staff standing next to our table the whole time left a lot to be desired. There should be some more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.
Brunch was amazing!! The food was delicious and music was terrific.
We enjoyed the food and the live music. Nice place for brunch.
Good ambiance but bad service, they lost my card without any apologies. Too much time waiting for the table whwn it was booked
Cool place. Great food. Cool live jazz band. I would go back again.
Perfect spot to grab a bite before a show. Food was amazing and the space was comfy with some nice live music.
Waiter tried to upsell and brought bread when meal came. Told us to order Brussel sprouts because meals didn’t come with a vegetable and they actually did. Also meal servers didn’t know how each steak was prepared.
Vacation in Boston
This is a wonderful place that a friend recommended and we loved the Sunday Blues!
Beautiful room and great music. Food is good but not outstanding.
Sat right next to the band, which was great but too loud for conversation. Great drinks, but food is overpriced for the quality.
Great location, fantastic food and good jazz at the Sunday brunch. When the band took breaks, however, the music played over the speakers a bit too loudly...so it was hard to have a conversation with my fellow diners; other than that, it was great.
Jazz brunch was unreal. The music was perfect and engaging without being a distraction from conversation, service was great, and food options were delicious. Great for groups, be sure to get there right around 10am when music starts! Busy spot for sure.
Great spot for live music! Limited menu, very eclectic - but overall good. I would definitely recommend this place for the atmosphere and the live music.
Great please. Staff was nice and accommodating. Would go back for sure
Some of the best dishes in Boston, especially the lamb!
Great music. Interesting place
Always love to have the live music playing while out for dinner. great ambiance and vibe. One of my favorites.
The Beehive is best known for its live jazz music (of varying quality) almost every night after 9:00.
My interest is the food which is really pretty good. There's the usual bar food -- burgers, nachos, etc. -- and also items more elaborately prepared. I had swordfish over delicata squash and brussels sprouts; a friend ordered skirt steak. Both delicious. Desserts are really good too.
Service was good and the place was not too noisy, a big plus for me.
I loved the restaurant: its decor, the ambiance, the food, the great service. It was a recommendation from a Bostonian friend and I will recommend it as well
They were out of the the menu item both of us wanted to order. Didn’t tell us until after we ordered. Otherwise a good time.
Amazing service and indescribable food, every time.
Went for Sunday brunch. Though we both ordered the same thing, our polenta was different consistencies. Mine was perfect, my brunch companion's was watery. We found that strange. The Bloody Mary's looked awesome but were not very good. They lacked spice and pizazz. Only two choices for dessert, neither appealed, so we went elsewhere. The music was great. The ambiance and vibe cool. Worth a check out, but I won't become a regular.
Went for Sunday brunch and had a wonderful time. The live music was fantastic and the servers were friendly and definitely added to the experience. Also the food was delicious.
Much bigger on the inside than you would think. Very old school vibe to it. I had the braised lamb neck, and it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place!
My love and I went here for our 2 year wedding anniversary, and it had a super fun and cool vibe! We were very close to our neighbors- not a complaint bc there was some other fun socializing that happened with them- and FYI if that’s not you’re thing and you’d rather have a more private feel. Food was incredible- super tasty! Our server was awesome, too:)
My aunt and I went here for dinner and we had a great time! Food was very good, but as with most food in Boston, on the more expensive side for what you get. The unique atmosphere is my favorite part of Beehive with the live jazz music. Thank you!
Always a favorite! love bringing people here for special occasions or visitors from out of town. Music and food are always unique and fabulous.
Great food, amazing ambience, attentive waitress.
The Beehive is a great find if you're looking for a spot in Boston to have a good time that is not inundated with college kids. The service is excellent, food is delicious and there are many options for drinks. The live jazz music is a nice touch and can be viewed from most tables in the restaurant. It's a great place to go on a date for a special occasion.
Surprisingly good food during a really fun burlesque show. Who knew?
The food was very good, however the portion was small given the price.
Had a nice dinner on Sunday with live blues music. Very enjoyable!
My friends and I are always thrilled with the dinners at Beehive, and this was no exception. In fact, I had a special seating request which, given the last minute reservation, I wasn't sure was possible to accommodate. Well, Beehive gave me exactly the seats I was hoping for, despite the typically crowded rooms of Saturday night! Of course, the food was spectacular and original, the music excellent... We had a great time, and I highly recommend Beehive!
Love The Beehive! Fantastic atmosphere with the live jazz music, great food and the service is very good! Would definitely recommend it.
The service, food and music (Jim Kelly Trio) were all fantastic!
To be honest, we were a bit disappointed after much hype around this place. We called to change our reservation and were given a hard time on the phone, then when we requested separate cheques - for a party of 7 we were told "yeah we don't do that here". We felt like we were being rushed out, although we were below the two hours that we were told that we had the table. We mentioned that there were two birthdays but they weren't acknowledged. The jazz music was great, hard to hear with all the people crammed in standing in the bar area.
My go to date night spot in the south end. You can’t go wrong if you’re looking for an energetic, fun time!
