We were looking for a unique local restaurant with a good wine selection and live music at reasonable prices. The Beehive was an excellent choice. The staff were professional; our waitress was especially attentive, friendly and helpful. Our food choices were only slightly a letdown but the jazz line-up and dessert made up for it in abundance. The list of entertainment for the month was also impressive. Definitely a place to go to again and again for a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere.
We have gone to Beehive multiple times and this will be our last. Awful service and food.
We have a great spot near the stage. I do wish they played for longer periods. They would play (what felt like) a few songs then stop for while. During the periods when they stopped, there was no music. I would’ve enjoyed having them play longer! However, service was lovely and the atmosphere was great!
Our waitstaff is always super friendly and accommodating. The food is creative and delicious!
Love this restaurant! I've only gone for brunch, so I can't speak for dinner. But, the food is great, I love the love jazz and the staff is always friendly and attentive
My favorite place for ambiance, festivity, and exciting music while dining. Great for people watching too.
The food is always good and the waitpeople are delightful.
The service was excellent. The food was pretty good, I had the cheeseburger which fell apart, and I had to eat it with a fork and knife - delicious nonetheless. She had the steak which was cooked right and very tasty. The chips on the side of the burger were the best part. For apps we shared the caesar, cauliflower, and deviled eggs. The cauliflower I’d skip next time. A jazz band was playing and we sat upstairs right at the edge so it was great viewing and listening, while we were still able to chat. The seats were very uncomfortable. When we wrapped up we were still a little ahead of schedule, so we grabbed two seats at the bar which was sharp. The service was great though it wasn’t busy. We loved the experience, however I’m not sure we’ll be back often.
We started upstairs with cocktails until our band level table was ready. My Bloody Mary with a hot pepper and an oyster was spicy, briney and delicious.
On to the next dining experience; a cozy round table for 4 with a view of the jazz trio.
My avocado toast with a pouched egg was perfectly cooked. Husband loves the lamb burger and hand cut fries.
The beehive is my favorite restaurant in Boston. The food, the ambiance, the location - you can’t beat it.
Was there for dinner and Bruce Bartlett Quartet on 1.10.19. Excellent food and drinks, very much enjoyed the space, good sound and music was killer.
Excellent brunch, food service and atmosphere with a duo playing soft music.
Excellent grub and service with a nice vibe. The Bruce Bartlett trio was just what we needed that night.
Fun vibe! Great place for drinks and atmosphere.
Food was great!!!!!
Love tonight. Amazing time. Order the queen bee drink.
We always love Beehive, with the live music, excellent cocktails and great food choices, you can't go wrong. It was so festive for NYE, the bands were fun, and even when they're crowded, you don't feel like you're on top of other tables, plenty of cozy romantic space to just enjoy a lovely meal.
Food and music were excellent. Oxtail gnocchi may have been the best I've tried.
My party had tickets for a show next door. As it was New Years eve, at 9PM the menu switched to a pricey prix fixe menu, so we decided to eat an early dinner before the show.
We were seated immediately in front of the stage. Our waiter was extremely attentive, and took our drink and entree orders. Our food arrived sooner than I expected. I ordered the salmon, the other members of my party ordered the braised lamb neck. The salmon was well cooked on a delicious farrow mixture. The salmon portion was a bit small for me. The lamb neck was tender, and flavorful, though a bit fatty. The lamb dish was heavy and neither of the people who ordered it was able to clean their plate.
There is a deal with the theater next door that each two meals comes with a free dessert. We ordered two of the desserts, and two came out, but one was not what we ordered. The waiter offered to bring us the one we ordered for free (making for 3 free desserts), but we turned down his offer. The apple crisp is warm and delicious. The chocolate torte is a bit heavy.
While we were working on our desserts, the band started showing up on stage, and we left just as they started to play. The band sounded like one that I would like to hear, but not while sitting at the edge of the stage. A seat further from the stage would make for better acoustics.
Great venue we were sat in front of the stage but I did not like the fact that we were basically pushed to order food. We were there for music and cocktails. My bill was 250$ 320$ with tip. For four of us pushing god on costumers is no a way to have people enjoy their evening. My waitress was great but I did let her know that I don’t like to be bullied by the staff.
Food and ambiance was good. Was only disappointed that the diversity of the clientele has decreased from earlier visits.
We were there for dinner with our children to celebrate New Years. Everyone loved it!!! Fun ambiance, wonderful service and excellent food!!! We will definitely be back!!!
Really cool atmosphere. Service was outstanding and the swordfish was very fresh and well-prepared
Food and service were excellent. The coffee cake was delicious. I would also recommend the calamari and eggs benny. Drinks were a little pricey but good quality. It was a little loud but didn’t feel cramped. Would go here again for brunch.
We had a very good dinner and enjoyed the music. The hanger steak was delicious and my swordfish with roasted root vegetables was also delicious. No bread offered and no starch to round out the meal. We ended up getting the steak frites (fries) for dessert- that hit the spot. For the cost and parking hassle, I’m not sure we’d return for dinner. May try brunch
The food was overpriced and horrible. Coming from a foodie, I have eaten all over and will pay for a great meal. I have experienced some of the best restaurants in Portland Maine and I started to check out Boston's restaurant scene.
This was a huge disappointment, the food was disgusting, four glasses of wine were over $50 and the glasses were dirty.
I was embarrassed that I suggested this restaurant and that my guests had to experience it.
Biggest complaint: Our reservation was for 5 PM. We got there at 4:25 PM. We wanted to have a drink before we were seated for dinner. The bar was completely full and we were not allowed to sit at a table to have a drink. One of the woman in our party is seven months pregnant and Wepreferred that she sit.
We were told the tables were for people eating but nobody could eat until 5 PM anyway. Which is the same time we had a reservation. All of the tables in the entire restaurant were empty. I thought it was very rude and not good business to not let us sit for a half an hour to have a drink or two before dinner. We went elsewhere for our drinks came back and had the dinner; food was OK but could clearly tell it had all been pre-cooked and was only heated. Our waitress however was very good.
A rather strangely unfriendly greeting upon arrival with women behind the podium/ desk made for a tough start for what was otherwise a nice lunch. Cool vibe, the server was fantastic, the food was right on, live music.
My wife and I were visiting from NY and wanted a nice brunch spot. The music was great and not too loud, the food was incredible (best lamb I ever had) and the drinks were delicious.
Beehive was a good choice for brunch overall. If you want to go for the music make sure to request seeking downstairs as upstairs is very quiet and not ideal for listening to the live music. Food was good but not great.
Overall, the experience was good. The service was fantastic and thorough, and our server was very knowledgable and personable. The eggs Benedict weren't very appealing. The eggs did not have enough hollandaise sauce, and it lacked flavor. The live jazz music was a nice touch.
Great Food! yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The hostess was a little rude (telling us to get away from the door) when we arrived, however the server was great as were the bartenders downstairs. Food was good too.
As always, the ambiance is just the best. The place is authentic and so much fun. And we love the live Jazz.
Mostly good. Small selection of food on the menu and somewhat pricey. Waitress brought over a bottle of sparkling water unsolicited and charged us for it, but we had a great time otherwise.
Went to Beehive pre- theater and was so happy with our choice! Great meal, jazz band and fantastic service! Highly recommend!
Amazing ambiance with amazing food and service! Funky place
Come here for the music alone. If you're goal is to catch up with friends over a couple quick drinks and brunch food with live music playing, this is a great spot. If this isn't exactly what you're looking for, skim through the notes below.
There are a couple things that are a huge turn-off here - this Sunday was my second time at the restaurant. Most of it has to do with the service; it is down right terrible (I would all caps that if I wasn't trying to be polite).
You start off with the host at the door, who is stoic, impersonal and is most definitely doing you a favor by finding you a table, even if you reserved it. Next, our server forgot to put in an order for one person in our party. After that, she forgot to get us condiments, despite acknowledging repeated requests. Last, the cutlery that was brought to my side of the table was dirty - I would have left at this point had it not been for the company we were with.
We ate the Eggs Shakshouka, Roated Brussels Sprouts with Poached Eggs, Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and Avocado Toast.
While the food was ok, and the music was really great, parking is also tough to find.
Combine all of this together and I really can't recommend anyone come here. Unless you really want to hear live music, nothing else here is worth it.
Amazing food, live jazz, great cocktails!
We love the Beehive! I would give this 5 stars all the way, except they were a little slow on the service. We had to ask for our server after sitting for nearly 15 minutes. Water refills were slow, and general server attention was spotty at best. But the food, vibe, and ambiance were all awesome!
