Bedford Social Club - Roanoke Ratings and Reviews
We had the Date Night Special on Thursday. Had reservation for 5:30 and requested sparkling grape juice instead of wine in the reservation, which they had ready for us. Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was very quiet at 5:30, with the volume gradually increasing as the night went on, but still remained quiet. Will definitely be returning to this wonderful, local Bedford restaurant.
The date night deal is wonderful. You get an appetizer, two salads, two entrees, and a bottle of wine to share for $50 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The service was good although a little slow. The restaurant is quite loud and does not have a children's menu. We loved it!
Thursday night is date night. The menu provides a wide range of good choices for red meat eaters or seafood lovers . There are some choices for vegans but not a wide variety. There are good deals on wine, appetizers and desserts. We had great service although when we dined at 8:15 the kitchen was out of some entrees and all potatoes. Our waiter even cooked bread for us after they ran out.
We went to the Bedford Social Club for the Couples Date Night Special and we were not disappointed. For $50 we shared an appetizer (chicken potstickers with asian dipping sauce) which was excellent. I had the squash soup and my husband had a salad (both very good) I had Tilapia and my husband had the ahi tuna and we were both pleased with our choices. Dessert was a shared slice of a delicious pie and we had a bottle of wine. For $50 you can not go wrong. We were there early so the restaurant was quiet. Our servers were efficient and friendly and parking was on street and convenient. We enjoyed our "Date night" and will definitely return again.
You can't go wrong with an evening at the Bedford Social Club! Our most recent visit was on a Thursday and we took advantage of the Date Night special. As always, everything was great, especially the service. My wife's steak was broiled perfectly and exceptionally tender, while the Seafood Wellington was nothing short of exceptional. This is without question our favorite restaurant in the Smith Mountain Lake area and would recommend it without hesitation.
The food is really good but forget about conversation. My husband and I have had dinner here several times and we do enjoy the food but be prepared to yell at each other if you want to talk. Service is friendly and good----not great. Wine list is decent and affordable. All and all we will try again as the menu is interesting. Also, the "date night" special is a great value!
Wonderful experience! Normally we enjoy a quiet night out but the Bedford Social Club may have changed our minds. A lively, everyone know everyone place; it gives you a feeling that your at "Cheers." The wait staff was great and made us feel at home right away. The mushroom soup was excellent and should be an automatic request for everyone. The stuffed pork chop was perfectly cooked and the grits served with it were fantastic. Don't be in a hurry, just sit back and enjoy the night (it's worth it).
I actually had two dates for Valentine.. My wife of 12 years and a long time friend who was in-town for business.
The setting was very comfortable - somehow encompassing both casual and upscale.
The food was excellent .... among us we had beef wellington, stuffed porkchops, and shrimp on grits (which my wife would fight over). Everything was delicious!!!
As far as the wine, I was the designated driver, so I don't personally know, but the ladies certainly had no problem draining the bottle.
The dessert options, which I also abstained from, seemed to be excellent, based on the snorting sounds of the ladies.
My possible only compliant (on a cold snowy night) would be that the men's room didn't seem to be part of the same heating system.
Bedford Social club has been a great place to go for a meal. They are always changing the menu to give you more choice. There staff is amazing - always, always very happy, polite, helpful, friendly efficient. attentive. I can't say enough about comfortable they make you feel while you are at the restaurant. The food is terrific and they will accommodate you special needs. If you have not been there just try it! You will fo back a second time and more.
I always thought this was an acutal "club" where it required a membership or something to come to. But it's not, and I am so glad!!! Date night deal is AWESOME, absoultely a perfect set up and the food is just ---- it's just..... --- I'm speechless!!!! WONDERFUL PLACE!! I will be back!
This was our first visit to this restaurant and the staff was just wonderful--right from the time we walked in the door. The menu had a limited number of selections--but plenty for anyone to find something they would like. The food was very good and plentiful. We left with a box--with enough for lunch the next day! We will plan to go back again and take friends with us!
The service was excellent, but we happened to be the only guests eating in the restaurant at the time (5:30 pm on a Saturday). The grouper was very good and also the strip steak; however the steak could have used more flavor. I added salt and pepper at the table and it improved quite a bit.
It was my wife's birthday. She loves lamb and was happy to see it on the menu only to have her hopes dashed as they were out of the lamb. She ordered scallops and I ordered a medium rare strip steak, both with asparagus and a wedge salad. We also ordered the cheese fritters to split. The fritters were overlooked with no cheese inside. My strip was well done and was sent back for another. The replacement was cooked right but was full of gristle. The scallops were the lone star of the night. Both entrees came with greasy stir fry as they also ran out of asparagus. We skipped dessert and left our one and only visit to the Bedford Social Club disappointed.
Ate there 2 nights, both were great. If you go for a special occasion and let them know when you make your reservation, the menu has your name printed at the top. All of the food was very good, service was spot on, without being overbearing. Decor is more of a art deco for me, but I am old school, still has the old metal tiles in the ceiling. A top flight restaurant in a small town.
