Food quite simply terrible. Having read other reviews now, it seems to be consistently poor

My wife and I enjoyed the Bedford Post Restaurant very much. The design and layout of the dining room is definitely upscale. Service was attentive yet relaxed/informal. The food was flavorful, fresh, well seasoned, well cooked, and inventive without being outré. Tables are well spaced and the room is not noisy.

Fail #1: We checked in at the hostess station and I gave my name. Later that day I got an email from Open Table, saying I hadn't honored my reservation.

Fail #2: The food arrived lukewarm, as if it had been pre-made and sat on some buffet table. Not impressed. It also wasn't particularly good.

Fail #3: Overpriced. Including tip, I paid $58 for two servings of mediocre eggs benedict, one cup of coffee, and a Virgin Mary.

Food was great but the service was horrible. We were told new management had taken over and everyone seems confused.

This is our third time at The Post Inn/Baldanza/FarmHouse and our first two experiences differed significantly. While the food has always been very good, the service has always left much to be desired. Given the recent transition we thought we would give it another try. The evening started out well. We were seated quickly at a nice table, we requested a quiet area which they accommodated and drink order at the table was served promptly. After that the evening turned south. After ordering our apps, pasta course and entrees we requested a wine list. Our waiter explained that due to transition they currently did not have a wine list and our waiter suggested we tell him what type of wine we like and how much we would like to spend and he would go to the cellar and pick something out for us. We asked to see a manager or sommelier and instead had another waiter come by. After 10 minutes a wine list appeared. The $400 wine selected was not decanted at the table nor were we provided an opportunity to taste it prior to being decanted. After our apps (which were delicious) we waited a significant amount of time between our next course. We were concerned that our pasta course was going to be served jointly with our entrees. We mentioned to our waiter who said he thought we wanted it all served together. How do you serve two meals at the same time? Our waiter assured us that he would have the pasta come out next and then entrees. After 10 minutes our concern was confirmed...out came our 4 entrees plus our pasta courses. Not having a wine list, the inability to properly serve/decant wine and horrendous service does not warrant the Relais & Chateau insignia. Our entire party truly enjoyed the food which was tasty and done to perfection, however, this was significantly overshadowed by the level of service. We hope the management team improves and trains their wait staff to provide the level of service expected for this beautiful property.

It's hard to use the ratings here because things are so uneven. We've eaten here multiple times and were very pleased for some time. The last two experiences have been disappointing for completely different reasons. Last time, the food was nearly inedible, but the service was good. This time, the food was absolutely delicious, but the service was awful. Seems like the real fault probably lies with management. No consistency at all, other than that the last two experiences have been so disappointing in one way or another that I seriously doubt we'll be back any time soon.

Everything was great. Love dining near the fireplace in winter. Salmon and duck were both superb and they gladly accommodated my request to switch sides. Love this place!

NON STARTER- NEW YEARS EVE -Hospitality Business not a business this place knows
Reservation 3 weeks in advance
We showed up on time for 9pm reservation
No one was at the maitre'd desk, no one recognized our arrival people some one took the coat before anyone greeted my wife and I and ten others-we waited 10 minutes for some one to recognize that we had a reservation and then other 10 until they tried to seat us in service area in the back of the restaurant, we asked for another table and were told it would be 7 minutes-we went to the bar -and witnessed more chaos after sitting at a 6 stool bar -the sweaty bartenders never recognized our existence or asked for a drink order after another 10 mins. we retrieved our coats and went home. On the way out , we commiserated with folks who waited 1/2 for table service, they had more patience than we had.

While we were seated right away and service was initially very good, it seemed to drop off precipitously after we ordered. We regularly needed to flag down a waiter to order more wine or ask for bread/water. Our waitstaff changed mid-meal, and this was all on New Year's Eve. The restaurant also ran out of a number of items on their regular menu affecting the tables around us. The music was also too loud and chosen poorly for a country inn setting. Not sure I will return or recommend to a friend despite the nice, upscale casual setting.

been here many times. This time was New Years Eve, and the service was poor. Oh well. We actually expect lousy service on New Years eve, it often happens that way. But the wine and food was terrific, when it eventually showed up. The waiter disappeared for long stretches as well. Very odd evening

For a restaurant that proudly displays Relais & Châteaux insignia on the menu -- they have much work to do:
- we ordered salads, pasta course and main course; it took 35-40 min for each course to come out
- we had bottled water for the table and every other time regular water was poured; after the 3d time we just gave up explaining
- burgers sounded great on the menu, but came out over-cooked, over-loaded with bacon and accompanied by really over-salted fries
- whipped potatoes (side dish for chicken) were equally over-salted

If you want a better meal, head to The Inn at Pound Ridge which is just 10 min away.

We've been before and have both read and experienced mixed outcomes. It was comforting to return to this beautiful restaurant and receive a well prepared meal, drink and service! Hopefully management has figured things out and will keep up the quality. We look forward to a return trip soon and we hope for more of the same!!!

very bizarre...we have been dining at the Post Inn since it’s inception and this time it was completely off.
For starters it was empty (only four tables filled the entire night). I wanted to a cocktail-they usually have a great bar menu for drinks-and they apologized and said they didn’t have one currently.
I wont bore you with details on food (ironically enough-isn’t that the whole point) but lets just say it was subpar.
Hopefully this was just an anomaly and not a sign that the place is slipping.

From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we should have known that the service would be terrible. We sat down at the otherwise empty bar in advance of our reservation. The bartender (only one for the entire restaurant) let more than 5 minutes pass until he apologized for the wait. When he asked for our order, we asked for drink menus. He told us they didn't have any as they are in between seasons. I asked for a list of wines by the glass, and he could not locate that list. Finally after waiting a few more minutes our friends arrived so we abandoned the bar and headed for the table. There, our waitress on numerous occasions forgot dishes and drinks, served one dish to one person and let many minutes pass before serving the rest of the table (one person ate their entire dessert before any coffee or other desserts arrived). We tried to order a bottle of wine. All of the wine is $100+, so when that bottle wasn't available, we expected the sommelier to make another suggestion. No sommelier appeared and no suggestions were made. Even stranger, when the bottle arrived, the waitress showed it to us but then left the table to decant it, leaving me to wonder whether we even got the bottle we ordered. She poured the red burgundy into the white wine glasses already on the table. We asked for red glasses, which she brought reluctantly, but then took away the half filled wine glasses (instead of transferring the wine to the new glasses). No one ever came by to refill our glasses. I don't think there was any manager on site all evening - we never saw anyone and certainly no one came by to check on our meal. I found it incredibly frustrating to spend that much on a meal when the service was so abominable. The food was very good, but unfortunately I cannot return to this restaurant nor can I recommend it to anyone.

The bartender was to busy to pay attention to us while we were waiting for the table. The waiters seemed to be to busy. We had to ask three different waiters to give us salt and pepper. My lobster pasta was not cooked enough with no lobster trace in it. My husbands venison was also not impressive. You cannot compare it with Campagna. For the same price we got wonderful dinner two days later in La Panetiere in Rye. In short: noisy, bad service and overpriced. We will never come again.

I was part of a corporate retreat at Baldanza at the Bedford Post and had breakfast and dinner there. I had the pancakes for breakfast, I thought they were good not great but the coffee was amazing. It seemed like the rest of my group enjoyed breakfast. Dinner took on a completly different vibe- much more polished. This was the second time I had dinner there and was please to see that the service and food continued to please. Really loved the butternut squash ravioli and enjoyed my rare ribeye. Will be back!

Our Party of 4 had dinner at Baldanza at the Bedford Post Saturday evening, we were greeted by a lovely hostess and taken promptly to a delightful table. The restaurant was crowded and it seemed that a large party was going on an another room but we felt comfortable. We heard the restaurant had 2 new chefs from Aquavit and Kittlehouse and were looking forward to coming. Happily the food not only met our expectations but exceeded it! For appetizers we shared the burrata, beet salad and the tuna for the table all were great. I had the halibut for dinner and loved it. In my opinion, Baldanza at the Bedford Post is hands down the best restaurant in the area.

It's so disappointing that this attractive and often remodeled property has failed to produce more than a mediocre restaurant for the past 25 years; other nearby locations have. The open farmhouse setting is far from country elegance by any definition, and table cloths would not be a sign of decadence. The squash ravioli was totally off, the butter more burned than browned, with an off-putting scent that easily overwhelmed the sage and whatever taste the filling might have had. The braised rib pasta was good, as was the salmon and the trout special, but when the fish is served skin up, the skin should be grilled to some crispness; Meyer lemon risotto was bland. Wine service was poor: a brunello selection was not available, but the suggested chianti substitution was far off the mark; fully a third of the white was left unpoured (and was never chilled as requested because it seemed the bottle was placed away from the table in a farmhouse-looking bucket with no ice). The chocolate desserts were good, even though the dessert menu card spelled one of them "MOUSE"--yes. Mickey would not be happy, nor were we.

Our go-to place for special occasions when we want refined low-key quiet luxury.

Rebecca was an exceptional waitress and the two hostesses where lovely and helpful also. A wonderful place for a refined meal.

*Need to fix: They need to add some simple snacks at the bar... it is an issue when you want to enjoy a cocktail on an empty -pre dinner- stomach. Doesn't fit such a high-vibe place.

We will be back!
