Osso Buco alla Becco
Becco's signature braised veal shank with farro risotto tossed with green and goldbar zucchini
Wwnt during restaurant week. They offer a very generous meal. Oir server was right out of central casting for an Italian restaurant— totally enjoyed his presentation of the menu. Great pasta selection. Excellent salmon. I would go back again!
Wait staff was very attentive and helpful. Very courteous and genial. Food was excellent as usual. Always good eats and a good time. Highly recommend just for dinner or before a show. The earlier reservations the better. We went at 5 just as they opened and it was nice not too packed and no wait. If you like pasta check the website after 2pm the day of to see the chefs specialty pastas, you cannot go wrong with any of the food here
Becco is owned by Lydia and Joe Bastianich. Their dedication to the art of Italian cuisine is on full display here. In one sentence, this ain't no Olive Garden. This is as authentic as it gets.
It was Restaurant Week in NYC so we had the $39 three-course meal. We sat outside to take in the street scene on Restaurant Row.
My wife and I started with a Caesar salad that was fresh, crisp, and flavorful, as good as we've ever had anywhere.
Our second course was a mini version of their sampler of the chef's three pasta of the day. We received a traditional spaghetti with Sunday gravy, a rigatoni with a spectacularly flavorful Bolognese, and three artichoke ravioli that was, no question, the best of the three. Note that I called this a mini version of the sampler that they sell on the menu for $30. I could have had just this so-called mini version and walked away fully sated. I can't imagine what the full portion is like.
But there was the main still to come. I had a Chicken Milenese that was superb, and my wife had a pan seared salmon that was as perfect as it gets.
The staff was incredibly attentive, courteous, friendly and conversant, and worth every penny of the larger-than-usual tip I gave.
This restaurant is now officially my favorite restaurant in NYC, hands down.
If you go, I recommend the Chef's Three Pastas of the day. You will not be disappointed.
Initially leery of anything in the theater district, I was thrilled with the high quality food and service at Becco. We had a large party and service was top notch throughout. Even the two picky kids loved their pasta. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!
Excellent food, service and outdoor dining on restaurant row. Tim, Jose and the chef were first rate! Incredible value on restaurant week!
Visited for NYC Restaurant week. We ordered from the restaurant week menu and the food was excellent. Had chicken with arugula and tomatoes with a vinaigrette which was very good and a unique dish. I believe chicken was breaded with panko. Was very thin which I love. I hate thick chicken breasts. We also ordered pork chops with assorted sweet peppers and hot peppers sauce. Very tender and juicy and also excellent. After salad appetizer had the pasta trio which was ravioli with artichoke, rigatoni in a meat sauce and spaghetti marinara. All very good. Price was excellent for the quality and quantity of food.
Great food, always fresh and prepared to our liking - excellent wait staff; best chicken parmigiana ever!!
Exceptional as always. Terrific food and people!!
Always a high quality meal.
My boyfriend and I went to dinner with another couple and when he and my friend’s husband both held up their cards to split the check the server only took my boyfriend’s. Obviously that put us in an awkward position where we had to pay for everything and couldn’t really afford to. Becco is normally my favorite restaurant, I have been a regular for over a decade, and I recommend it to everyone… but looks like we can’t return for awhile since we were forced to spend more than we could. I’m just not sure why the server did that, it’s very upsetting.
Celebrating my Mom’s 81st Birthday! Awesome food great service
The staff, the food and the place was excellent. I highly recommend the short rib.
As always food was very good, the bread!! I love the bread they serve. The table was ready when we arrived. The only thing the waiter wasn’t very friendly, took long time to take our order and when he came i stead of send the order to the kitchen, when to 2 more tables to do the same thing ( 1 of the tables it was a party of about 10 people) but over all it was a good experience
The food at Becco is excellent. Two of us had the three pasta medley, one had chicken and one had fish. All our meals were prepared and cooked to perfection. Service was outstanding. The waiter answered all of our questions and provided opinions
Perfect dinner from start to finish! 😀
A great place. Great food! Excellent drinks! My white peach martinis to die for.
Superb! Great food combined with exceptional service makes this a great choice for any event.
The place Never disappoints! The 3 pasta specials is such a wonderful deal. Last night was a great combination. The service is wonderful - such a friendly pleasant staff. They really make you feel appreciated for being there. Really recommend making reservations. It is a well deserved popular place. And the front of house when you arrive, are wonderful. The current management is THE BEST!!! A couple of years ago, that could not be said, especially of the female manager. The management and staff, do check with you to see how everything is. IMPRESSIVE is an understatement. I still miss the Desert Platter for 2 or... And looking forward when they start serving lunch and especially open on Monday & Tuesday. THANKS Becco you continue to get Better and NEVER DISAPPOINT!
Tried the restaurant week menu and wine pairing. So good! So many great tastes.
Lidia’s son needs to call his mom for help. I had to flag down someone just for my cocktail??????
Then we ordered and parties of 6 and 8 were seated and nobody came back to check on us?
The veal was mediocre- I can eat that in Virginia…..the pasta special BECCO is known for included excessively soft potato gnocchi. No desert because nobody came to get my wine order or our desert order…
Call mommy for help….we will not be returning ever.
It was fantastic the host
It used to be excellent, not anymore. We were looking forward for the pasta, salmon and their awesome cheesecake. The pasta was good, but the salmon and cheesecake were big disappointments, the salmon was very salty, and the cheesecake was just not the same, it had sandy texture. Expensive for what it offers.
Went for the unlimited pasta ($29)which is always extraordinary---but were wooed by the Restaurant Week Menu ($39) that had a good main dish but also the pasta and antipasto we normally get. Wonderful surprise was a glass of prossecco was included. Normal high quality fare---good and reasonable ($35) bottles of wine and a nice outdoor street seating section where we could watch the world go by. Club a few doors down had live music that we got to hear at just the right volume from where we were seated.
This was our first return to Becco since the Pandemic started and unfortunately we were underwhelmed.
Our chicken Milanese was dry/overcooked with burnt edges and lacked the sherry sauce as advertised. The chicken parmesean was average at best and should be offered with a side of pasta.
The sauce on the chicken parmesean was good but was not plentiful.
We hope it was just an "off" night and that Becco will improve during Restaurant Week.
We took my grand nieces to Becco after taking the Circle Line cruise around Manhattan. We were tired, hot and hungry. We arrived a little early for our reservation, but we’re invited into the air conditioned bar area to wait until the restaurant official,y opened.
We were seated promptly and our server was helpful an attentive. The food we ordered was was wonderful!
The food was absolutely amazing. The wait staff were so nice and friendly. We loved the pasta tableside. It was so delicious. We loved everything about our experience. I definitely will visit Becco again.
Friends experience weekend with college friends
Food was excellent. Drinks were very good. Kids even enjoyed dimmer
Small but varied menu - something for every Italian taste. Food was fantastic, service very personal and priced right.
7 of us got together at Becco on Saturday night (7/17) and it did not disappoint! 4 had the pastas with salad - yum! I had the veal Marsala- awesome! My other friends had the salmon and the chicken and both thought they were superb! I have been to this restaurant many times - in fact I go there every chance I can when in NYC. It is ALWAYS great! Highly recommend!
My daughter and I had a wonderful meal while visiting in NYC. The food was delicious. Service was exact. There were so many different things I would have liked to try.
Great food and great service. Will definitely be back.
First time there fabulous
Got all you can eat pasta, was good but single dish might have been better. Good if you want to try a few dishes
Amazing all around. Way too much delicious food. Great people. Great space.
Perfect restaurant to go to before a Broadway show
Great selection of beautifully crafted Italian food
I’ve been a customer of Becco for years and celebrated many holidays there. However, I was greatly disappointed this visit. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and we’re not allowed inside the restaurant as “ they had to have their meeting “. We sat outside in steamy weather waiting for our table. Our server, Kathy A, wasn’t friendly, hurriedly ran off the nightly specials and seemed like she couldn’t wait to get away from our table! Dessert was ordered and three scoops of gelato were put on a naked plate with no “smear “ or attempt at presentation! Joseph was walking around and I wished he had stopped to ask how we were doing abs being treated. The food was excellent BUT service was very poor! Disappointed Lydia! One of your fans.
The sinfonia di paste is a must-do. Such a great value and amazing food. Also enjoy their $35 wine list. Great spot.
