Terrific Italian food @ “always” Becco’s. Consistent and Delicious always!!!
We were very pleased with the 19.99 lunch special. Waiting staff was excellent
Awesome! Service and food incredible!
Food was excellent, service was great. We had reservations and were seated in a very timely fashion.
My favorite NYC staple. We come every time we visit from Austin!
The value is exceptional and the food and wine selection is superb ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was looking for an authentic Italian restaurant and we got it! The ambiance was quaint and lively. We were seated promptly and and quickly attended to. We ordered the pastas of the day with our entrees, super delicious and fresh! Will be on my favorite spots in NYC from now on!
This place is a finely oiled machine. They are brilliant at moving people through so they can make it to their theaters on time. We made our reservation via Open Table and the night before someone called to confirm our reservation and our show time. The place was mobbed when we arrived at 6:20(ish) but we were seated by 6:30 and out of there by 7:45. Now, the bad news. I am vegan and thought I had found some decent vegan options on the menu before we went, but I was sadly disappointed. The only true vegan option was a delicious Insalata Mista which I inhaled. There was absolutely nothing else on the menu, so I asked for pasta with oil and garlic and that is what I got, an uninspired pasta tossed with too much oil, garlic, and for good measure, they threw in some broccoli. My husband had, what looked like a nice chicken parmigianna. If I was not a vegan, I am sure the food would have been fabulous. It sounded fantastic, but it would have been nice to have had at least one or two fancy things to choose from off the menu. In hindsight, I should have ordered a double of the Insalata Mista and skipped the greasy pasta.
Family visiting from out of town.
Pointless making an online reservation, having it confirmed the day before, and then waiting a half hour to be seated (7 pm for 6:30 reservation). Awful, second floor table facing the front. Cramped and uncomfortably seated on a very slanted floor. Food service was slow too, and 1/3 pastas was cold. Used to be better quality food. This native New Yorker wasn't impressed an is unlikely to come back again.
Food is always terrific and the selection of $30 bottles of wine is impressive!
Good food. Strong service. Good pre-theatre
dining. Large portions.
Crowds are big and dining room is large so a fair amount of food preparation is probably done in advance.
Pre show dinner.
All smiles and friendlyness ended when we gave our waiter only a 20% tip.
Very unfortunate cause we enjoyed our meal.
As a vegetarian Italian is typically a safe bet. Options for vegetarians at Becco we’re minimal. Had the bottomless pasta. Honestly, for the price it was certainly not worth it. Ate a little because I wasn’t fond of the sauces. Paid a lot. Wouldn’t recommend.
Loved it. While I'm not a fan of noisy restaurants where you sit 8 inches from another person and evesdrop in on conversations all night long, including overhearing the next table complain heatedly to the poor waitstaff, the food was awesome.
You start out with a bread basket that made me throw caution (and gluten) to the wind. Crispy, crunchy breadsticks, salty focaccia, briny olives, a cheese spread covered in a nice olive oil. We were hungry but not THAT hungry but the basket disappeared.
We both got salads. I ordered a Caesar salad lightly dressed and the kitchen assumed that meant I didn't want cheese on it (hmmm. Lightly dressed just means don't saturate it in salad dressing, right??) . My husband ate the market salad, which he enjoyed. It had a selection of beans in it. No one at our table (or the tables on either side of us, ate them.
My husband ordered the lamb chops. Two lamb chops would have been 4 somewhere else. Sure, the bones could have (and should have) been frenched as they were just unwieldy and fatty and the picture would have been nicer, but they were done perfectly and over a group of possibly a bit overcooked veggies. I ordered the salmon, which was yes, the best salmon I've ever eaten, and it came over roasted brussels sprouts which were equally good.
For dessert, we got the ricotta cheesecake (which had an odd flavor, but was edible) and the chocolate mousse (but we declared the cheesecake the winner of the night).
Considering the number of people cramped in the small restaurant, the speed with which tables were turned (really, does every restaurant in NYC attempt to turn tables hourly??), and the menu, I thought they did an awesome job and would recommend. Now, I have to continue detoxing myself from the gluten fest.
PS - waiter was incredibly good.
Id been looking forward to returning to Becco disincentive the first time I went. However, this visit was disappointing; so much so that I won't recommend it to anyone nor return again.
Our Server Gabriell, rattled off the specials so quickly we had to ask repeatedly what they were and she appeared frustrated with us for it. When asked the price, she "couldn't recall" and never provided it to us.
My veal was subpar and the ricotta cheesecake, that was outstanding on my first visit also left me yearning for the cheesecake of my first visit. My friend had the pasta trio. After waiting a prolonged period of time, she had to request a server bring some pasta to her.
We felt rushed, ignored and were disappointed in the food.
Delicious... Osso Bucco was amazing.
Went last night to celebrate my birthday. We had a cocktail then shared an appetizer. The food from start to finish is wonderful, however the staff is even better. My husband had a non food related problem. Just as our main course arrived he had a severe hiccup attack. It came on suddenly and he couldn’t swallow and was choking . This never happened to him before and he has no food allergies. He left the table to go to the men’s room. After a short time our waiter realized something was wrong and asked how he could help. I just asked for the check because by now we didn’t know where he was. A lovely woman who I assume was the manager accompanied me to the front. I had already paid the check but she told me she was voiding it and removing my husband’s dinner. It was not expected but a what a wonderful gesture on their part. We will definitely be returning in the near future. I apologize for not getting everyone’s names so they could be properly thanked.
One of our favorite restaurants, never disappoints, we arrived early after a Broadway matinee.
My partner and I had the daily specials, I had the fish special which was bass over lentils, and my guy had veal piccata, both delicious, we started out sharing a wonderful shrimp appetizer from the menu. Looking forward to returning
I love watching Lidia on my local pbs station and I love recreating her recipes. Unfortunately the food was ok. The service was good and very geared towards the theater goers schedule., which I appreciated. The value would have been ok if I got what I expected from the Bastianich Family. I will stick to watching Lidia...
Make sure you make a reservation. We got seated on-time and they got us out under 2 hours, without making us feel rushed. Nice atmosphere and great service. Patrons are loud and excited, most going to a show afterwards. So don't plan on the atmosphere to be quite and intimate. Instead it's a happy and excited atmosphere. Food was delish; I got the 3 pasta dinner and hubby got the steak. We were both happily satisfied. Had cappuccinos instead of dessert, it was delicious.
I have never had a lunch at Becco's. Quite a different vibe, much less crowded, quieter, great value. We had the burrata, always excellent, and I had an arugula and calamari salad as a main course--light and refreshing. My companion had salmon, perfectly cooked, and nicely presented. We shared a slice of cheesecake--one of the best in the city in my opinion. Service was timely and courteous. Very enjoyable.
Pre-theater dinner. Good food. Outstanding service. Nice ambiance. Incredibly good value. Wife and I each had the three-pasta special, shared a bottle of wine, I started with a glass of prosecco, and we each finished with a capaccino. With a slightly better than 20% tip total came to under $140. Can’t be beat!
I really enjoyed the food. What really put both my boyfriend and I off was the service. I can't drink alcohol , my boyfriend doesn't drink alcoholic beverages when around me to respect the fact that I can't drink and not make me feel left out. I'm not sure if it was because we didn't order alcoholic drinks, but the server was treating two older women next to us waaayyy better than us. They would serve them faster, clean up the table in between servings of foods and drinks. Meanwhile, he left crumbs on our table, why couldn't we get the same service? and ignorned us for the majority of thr evening. It's such a shame, because the food is absolutely out of this world... the service however killed it.
Becco is a very well run restaurant and always busy. The first floor is tight and always busy with customers walking thru as well as workers doing the same. So it's noisier than the upstairs seating. I'd give that area much higher ambiance . Food and service were excellent
The food was wonderful we are fans of Lydia from channel 13 so going to her resturant was a big treat for us.
Decent, not anything special.
We had dinner here on a Sat night. Had a 8:00 reservation and were seated right away. The tables are tight together and it is noisy. Our waiter was an older man with a heavy accent which made it very difficult to understand what he was saying-people at other tables mentioned it also. I ordered the salmon, which was very good. My husband ordered the chicken parm, which he also said was very good. He told waiter right away that he has a seafood allergy-we were given Caesar salads with our meals-waiter failed to mention the anchovies!!! He also seemed to have an attitude that he just ordered a soda to drink! As soon as we finished our meals, my husband wasn't feeling good, needed a bathroom. Not a fun ending to dinner. Would not return.
Great for the theater crowd no...we were seated on time. Food was served in a timely manner without being rushed
Awesome! We love eating here! The pasta is always great!
Excellent NYC restaurant! Great food and excellent value. Service was excellent!
We always enjoy this restaurant before attending a Broadway show. The service is incredibly attentive and the food very good. Great for families looking to have a special night in New York.
Fabulous food, fabulous wine. The staff is very attentive and polite.
The food was excellent. The polenta with bacon was fabulous (if I had a bigger stomach I would have eaten the whole thing). The calves liver was "almost as good as my mother's". The octopus was glorious. Let's discuss the chocolate mousse cake. Please don't be on a diet when you go.
The waiter recommended a wine from the $31 list and it was marvelous.
If I can organize myself enough to call a few days in advance I'll be there for every theater date.
A must every time we are in NYC. Perfect place to go before the theater.
Really vibrant atmosphere in this authentic Italian restaurant. The three pasta main was great and my Lamb Chops were superb.
Nice wine too!
