Becco Ratings and Reviews
We were running a few minutes late because of traffic but graciously seated right away. Service was attentive, but salad server spilled a little on my dinner companion and wine should have been served sooner. Good food, but dinner company's ribeye was tough (I tasted it and agreed) and a bit too charred for his taste...he talked to manager when she stopped by and steak was taken away with no fuss and replaced with a little pasta, which turned out making him happier. We were not charged for the steak and left happy and content. We like going to Becco when we visit NYC at the holidays and would go back! $29 bottle of Italian wine is a terrific value, and everything else we ate (seafood salad, veal parm, pasta, meatballs) was amazing .
Amazing, amazing, amazing! We were so impressed with this dining experience, we made reservations for a second night before we even left the restaurant. Real, authentic Italian food the way nonna would make it. Try the Symphony of Pasta feature... 3 pastas served table-side, all you can eat. The restaurant is always packed, and the pace is a little frenetic, but it just adds to the experience. Highly recommend.
The noise level was intolerable..I could not carry on a conversation. The food was not as good as I had expected..I had the three pasta meal and one was just spaghetti..couldn't it have had something in it other than a red sauce? Like mushrooms or peppers etc. It was terribly bland. The Ceasar salad was soggy..I would not eat there again..I have eaten there before and found the food to be better several years ago..it has gone downhill.
Given the reviews my experience was surprising. Maybe it was an off night. There wont be a follow up for me though to see. The food is just ok and the pasta (for which I guess they are known) was boring and undercooked in one case. The service was inhospitable, inattentive, unhelpful, annoyed, and generally horrible (this goes for the entire staff [server and support]). I think that most restaurants in this area are mediocre tourist traps and Becco does not disappoint on that front. If you want blah food and blah service before a show check em out.
Food was plentiful and tasty. Service was excellent but it is very crowded and noisy. We had the Caesar salad, three pasta plate, swordfish entree and a chicken with pumpkin risotto entree with two glasses of wine and a Bellini. Tab was $107 before tip. We ate here before a show and would return again.
we have eaten at a Becco many times. Food is always very good and value is good, particularly for NYC. Unfortunately, the restaurant was mobbed. While we were seated at a nice table, service for Symphony of Pastas was poor. I think the restaurant was just overbooked. We will go back, but definitely not around holiday time!
The food is always excellent and the daily three-pasta special meal is a great bargain, especially for this area. Definitely make a reservation. They are good about checking to be sure you can make it to the theater on time. Pleasant surroundings, though can be a bit crowded and loud at times. Service is friendly and efficient.
If y ou want quick seating, outstanding service and great food, come to Becco. One of the pasta selections in our choice of three was pasta, bacon and cabbage. The cabbage gave a unique flavor to the pasta. Gnocchi was another selection with our order..not a fan of gnocchi, but my son enjoyed it. The size of the gnocchi was huge
We had a great meal in the upstairs dinning room. Very close tables but adequate space. Food was absolutely wonderful. Service was initially slightly rushed but improved as the meal went on. Quick to give us menues and ask for our order but then slowed down. We had 4:30 pm reservations ( only ones available on short notice). Extremely busy and crowded on the first floor dining room on our way out at 6:30 pm. Food quality worth the tight eating space.
The ambiance was great. Employees were friendly and most professional. Molly, our waitress, was most attentive and helpful. Our dinner was excellent. We brought friends from SC and they were most pleased. We all plan to return. Thank you to all and Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas!!
Solid, straightforward food that allows the ingredients to shine. That it is well located in theatre district and well priced, with options responsive to all budgets, are added benefits. Perhaps not the high end food of other such options, nonetheless a comfortable and unpretentious choice
The meatball appetizer, complimentary caesar salad and tasting of three pastas was delicious.
My sword fish main cause was a little dry. It was served with some spaghetti squash. In my opinion, there was not enough squash served with the fish. The fish steak was very large.
Apple strudel for dessert was wonderful! Service started out in a prompt fashion but everyone was kind of losing focus as the night wore on.
we went here before a show, so only had 90 minutes. We had reservations and the place was packed. The staff were a bit unorganized getting us seated, but we got served and got to show in plenty of time. Great 29 buck wine list. The food was very good, especially for the price. We ordered everything from liver to different types of pasta and fish soup. Everything was good. In future would prefer to go and have a less rushed meal (but that our fault not the restaurant).
We arrived at 430 for a 445 pre-theater dinner reservation. After a cocktail in the bar we checked in again at 445. We waited until 5 pm to be seated and watched everyone coming through the door be seated first. We then were walked upstairs to a porch with 2 tables of 4 and one table for 2. I remarked that it was crowded and would be uncomfortable when the other tables were full. The waiter said yes, probably and walked away. We finally got menus and didn’t order until 530. The wait staff had to reach over heads in order to serve. I couldn’t even fully open my menu and read it without sitting sideways. The waiter said “we will make it work”. It just kept going downhill, the pasta was cold and the veal chop was fatty. I was looking forward to eating at Becco after enjoying one of my best meals at Lydia’s of KC. If she knew the conditions of which we were seated and how 9 customers were complaining and unhappy in that crowded area and that everyone complained about the quality of the food as well - I think she would be embarrassed. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had and one of the worst meals. The wait staff was if the rudest I’ve ever seen
